We went microbit to start with here with my 14 year old. Borrowed stuff from school. We then moved to RPi and then he lost interest to his xbox/ps. :-( G

Evening all - thanks for the replies. This morning I spoke to the pupils who were interested and told them I had applied for the Warhammer Alliance packs. They were made up. We also spoke to our DT Technician, who is also a fan. He is making then a 6x6 board play area and we will be using the DT department as their 'safe to play' area - free from idiots who just make fun of them. Then, at 2:30pm the email arrived to say our Alliance kit was being prepared and we had been accepted. Not told the kids yet - that will be tomorrow. All the stuff I need for the Alliance part of it has been downloaded and I'll spend some time reading tomorrow. Not quite sure what I am letting myself in for. Gareth

Evening All - glad I found this thread. Where better to search than here. Anyway - a group of kids in school have been playing Warhammer during lunch times in the dinner hall. I have been watching them and asking questions. Really enjoying watching them. I felt sorry for them in the dinner hall amongst everyone with some taking the peeeee out of them. So I'm going to help them out by getting involved and providing a safer space for them in a classroom. I've also decided to get more involved and start playing. I have no idea of course. I have been a model train enthusiast for years so understand modelling, but this is out of my league. In a bit of cheek I wrote to Games Workshop asking for help and they told me about the Warhammer Alliance - which is a programme for establishments like schools. So I have applied for a kit. Has anyone else done this? Does anyone run a Warhammer club in school? Is it popular? Where is the best place for me to learn about it all? I just know the answers will be here. Thanks all.

Alternative years would be a great idea - like they used to do with the Motor Show. G - - - Updated - - - Another point - I was amazed at how many schools took pupils. I'm sure I remember many years ago that children were not allowed. All the ones I saw were well behaved, but I bet some vendors were taken for a ride with the freebies.

Some other things I noticed... 1. TES - Did I miss their stand? 2. Sad how RM, once a massive stand in the middle of Olympia reduced to a small square on the outsides. I agree that it was nice to meet up with some people. I did find one person on the Microsoft stand was a bit rude considering their public persona is of one of openess. GJE

Maybe it's just me, but I wasn't impressed by BETT this year. It's been 3 years since I last attended and there was nothing much that caught my attention. AI being the big thing but nothing amazing. What were others opinions? Am I alone in thinking this? I spoke to a mate who works for Adobe and was on their stand - he felt the same. G

Thanks everyone for the help with the BETT travel. My Dad and I were all good. The travel from the hotel to ExCel was excellent so all the advice given here was spot on. Really appreciated. Gareth

Morning, Some staff are moaning about a change to the logoff window where it now asks them if they want to log into a Microsoft account. Before I go hunting, does anyone know off-hand, the GPO to turn this off? CHeers Gareth

Yes I know, but I didn't fancy driving through or around London to get there. It's just easier to get there up the M4 which is a 3-4 hour journey from my house. I'm leaving at lunch time on Thursday. Hitting J3 will be better than trying to get through London at 5pm (I assume). I'm a novice at getting to London and would have preferred to go on the train but it's too expensive even when I add parking charges. An hour on the tube to the event will be fine. G

Hi @Steve101 - Yes I understand that, but we don't use inTune and if MDT goes then I need another tool for bare metal deployment. I cannot see us moving to inTune for at least two years. Gareth

How do you name your machines? One thing I like about MDT is putting the machines into the database and letting it build with the name. G

MDT isn't dead. Long live MDT :-) We are still using it to build 23H2 and 24H2 machines. Works a dream. G

Evening All, Does anyone know how easy it is go get from the Premiere Inn (Heathrow T2/3 Bath Road) to the Excel centre? I'm finally returning to BETT after three years. Travelling up on the Thursday, staying, parking and hopefully tubing it in on Friday morning. I've not idea what the route is etc etc. So any help appreciated. Thanks Gareth

So - further to other posts I've put on Edugeek, we had our pricing back from SmartDeploy and it's way out of our league. It's $12.32 per endpoint for 600 ($7,392) devices and $11.88 per endpoint for 700 devices ($8,316). This is Edu pricing. Maybe schools elsewhere can afford this, but it isn't ever going to be on our radar. I'll keep MDT going for as long as possible and when that dies I@ll look at the PowerShell version, and if that doesn't work - then I'll think some more. We are not due to go AutoPilot for a few years in the LEA yet - but an I right in saying that even this doesn't deploy and I would still need an OS on the computer to start the process? I'm wondering if I could PEXE into OSDCloud to get it all working - but how would I name machines? The one thing I like about MDT is naming machines via the database/MAC address. Cheers all, Gareth

I think Action 1 will be out of our price range above 100 devices - but for the remote staff laptops it's going to be fine. Just got to sort out the LEA firewall.

Excellent - I'm looking now, but for some reason it hasn't picked up the two desktops on my network. Guess that would be the firewall.

Evening all, Sat here evaluating the free (0-100 endpoints) version of Action 1. Seems really good and ideal for our 80 remote staff laptops that often do not arrive in school. Seems similar to PDQDeploy and PDQInventory (maybe even PDQ Connect). So - has anyone used this management software? I need something to monitor the remote devices. We have both PDQ applications running in school. Waiting for a quote to come through and if it's reasonable I might consider it instead of the PDQ offerings. Options appreciated. Gareth
