    Sun Storage 7110

BE CAREFUL if you unconfig the raid and then create a new config (as opposed to importing the config) you will lose all data. Butuz
  2. It confuses the crap out of XP DNS and generally just won't work properly. Also what happens if you end up with wired and wireless connected at the same time? Error. Butuz

    Sun Storage 7110

Phil I take it this is something Oracle has introduced into the Oracle branded 7110 firmware? My 7110s are still running on SUN's branded firmware and they accept and can use any type or brand of drive whether it be SAS, SATA or SSD. If you do not have an oracle support contract on your 7110 then I feel sorry for you as if you want to create a new support contract they will charge you in order to send an Oracle engineer out to assertain if your 7110 is able to be contracted i.e if it has been fiddled around with, which by the sound of it yours has. Expect the one of cost of this to be as much as, or possible more than the 7110 is worth, plus the standard yearly support contract on top. Oracle are soo nice to education customers. Butuz
  4. Fantastic work Dave. Great video too! Butuz
  5. Great thread. I've got a couple of projectors like this. One has gone really yellow the other pink! Nice to know for sure that it can't be solved by cleaning or a bulb change! Butuz
  6. Holy carp. I think this may be the game that drags me kicking and screaming back into PC gaming. Ive been out of PC Gaming for years and have been very happy with my Xbox 360. The amount I've saved on motherboards procesors and graphics cards has literally allowed me to buy a car Problem is, 64 player and even better graphics thant he xbox is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO tempting me :-) oh and an Edugeek platoon of course. 7. Please do. The more honestly people post on here the more ammo for the likes of us struggling to find funding Butuz
  8. From next year our ICT budget is going to be capped at 10k per year for new equipment and 1.5k a year for repairs. 400 PCs ~1000 users. We need to replace ~200 pcs ASAP as they are 6 years old.. I don't know why I bother getting out of bed, frankly. Butuz
  9. Non dell drive should be fine as long as its a 10k SAS drive. Make sure its the same speed (i.e 10kRPM). Try to get a 300GB but really size doesn't matter too much as it will just use the first 300GB of the drive. Butuz
  10. So. Here's a question for you. How much space / quota do you give your staff for their My Documents?
  11. That request tracker looks really good. Does it integrate with AD? Butuz

    Computer Tower Question!

Yes the forum is the best place for questions more people will read it. I recon the problem is to do with the Raid. If you don't want to use raid at all you need to go into the raid BIOS on boot up (usually CONTRL & M when it boots) and delete the raid array. BE AWARE THAT THIS WILL DELETE ALL DATA ON THE RAID ARRAY SO IF YOU ARE NOT SURE WHAT ON THERE DONT DO IT!!!!! Then you need to go into the bios and set the Motherboard Raid setup from RAID back to normal. This way you get up to 4 seperate normal hard drives rather than a RAID array. Windows 7 should install on that no problem. Butuz
  13. Yet another utterly blatant iphone copy that wont be able to be sold in germany. Apple lawyers at the ready!! Sir Yess Sah!!!!! Butuz

  15. It's old hat but in my opinion it's still the best/most useful Raid level out of all of them as it allows Raid 0 read speeds whilst still featuring good redundancy and a hotswap drive for extra assurance all the while making most use of your disk space. The majority of data on the majority of servers is Read. Therefore Raid 5 suits. Raid 10 / Raid 6 / Triple Parity Raid are all great as long as you’re happy to not be able to use 50 - 66% of your storage. All of these raid levels only perform well / have much more complexity / overhead on the Raid card too so lets hope you've stumped up the cash for a good one. Butuz
