RabbieBurns Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 got a bebo and a facebook. dont use the bebo much anymore since everyone seems to have jumped on the facebook bandwagon. Dont really use it much to be honest. Sign in maybe once a week to have a nosey at everyones business. is it just me or am i completely missing the point of twatter? "I just took a dump" "i just had a bowl of soup"
webman Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Although I'm on FB, MySpace and Twitter, I use MySpace the least. Twitter is whatever you make of it, it can mean and can be different things to different people. Some use it like what RabbieBurns quoted, but to others it's a good way of finding people with mutual interests (TweeterTags) and keeping in touch/updated with mutual friends and groups you're members of.
mikeymike Posted March 13, 2009 Author Posted March 13, 2009 i think facebook is great for catching up with old friends and seeing how they are doing, ye cant see all the fuss about twitter seems pointless to me
webman Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 (edited) Facebook adds Twitter-like functionality ... http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/03/05/facebook_mimics_twitter/ Edited March 13, 2009 by webman
DSapseid Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I use FB myself. I use it a lot to talk to friends on the chat functionality rather using msn.
Guest richard_s Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I used to be a very active MySpace user until they deleted my account I have a Facebook account now but don't use it all that much.
Theblacksheep Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 (edited) None, If people cant be bothered to phone or type an email then are they your friends? I've lost count of the amount of people bitching about people on their 'friends' list they wouldnt say hello to in person. Edited March 13, 2009 by Theblacksheep
Edu-IT Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Facebook and Twitter for me. MySpace and Bebo are too customisable for my liking, in terms of themes, and it gets to the point where people make their pages unusable. Unless MySpace has changed it's site recently.
john Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Facebook here and obviously don't forget the Edugeek group!
webman Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 None, If people cant be bothered to phone or type an email then are they your friends? Er, yes...
Sylv3r Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I am on Facebook and have a twitter account but I think I need to have an hour or two to sit down and work out what its all about.
russdev Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 The key in twitter is the network and you only see the power once built your network up and got number of people who follow you and they follow you. Once at the point just ask a question and then see what it is about. Russ
garethEds Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Bah humbug but they are all a waste of time. GJE
rad Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Facebook, but its pants since it changed the other day
originofsymmetry Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Bebo and Twitter for me. Don't bother with Bebo much but check out Twitter several times a day.
rh91uk Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 More of a Facebook guy myself and do the odd tweet now and again
jamesb Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Facebook myself, though I'm currently in the process of migrating away from that to Live Spaces.
Hightower Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I have a FaceBook account but haven't signed into it in about 5 months! I'm just so busy I don't have time to keep in touch with 'friends', and any bit of spare time I get isn't going to be wasted looking at people pointless profiles - "Oh look, Johnny boy is getting married - didn't care 5 years ago when he last made the effort to speak to me, why should I care now". If I want to socialise, I'll go to the pub.
elsiegee40 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I have accounts on all because we are trying to round up former pupils and staff to celebrate the school's 90th birthday. However, I really don't use them for personal stuff at all! Email does me fine! 'The staff room' seem to regard me as some sort of technological wizard for creating the accounts ... wish they were as impressed by me sorting out their various technological problems!
DMcCoy Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 A blight on the planet and the end of western civilisation as we know it. No accounts for me
Gatt Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 FB and Twitter myself - Do have a MySapce but never logged into it since i created it...
sidewinder Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 facebook (actually use) and myspace (no real reason to have it anymore) bebo is for kids Twitter i just cant be arsed with, no matter how much everyone says its powerful, i dont want people 'following' me, no-one cares what im doing throughout the day, and i dont care what anyone else is doing either. Load of crap
