I used to do a lot of walking, green spaces and/or general exploring, between 5-8 miles at a go. Good exercise, good for your mental health, and ideal for a Sunday so you're at least mildly pooped by bedtime :) Sadly I can't really do it at the moment due to health issues, but I'm working on it.

I used to do gym once a week, but currently lapsed. I kinda loathe it, but also, after a good session you can feel great afterward, it's a great stress buster.

Since I reduced my hours earlier in the year, I've been keeping moderately into the art scene, and taking advantage of being able to visit galleries on a weekday when they're quieter. Some of them have been baffling, but some I've found generally enriching, if I can get my head into the right space. Loving the Impressionists, lately!

Did you know that golfers typically live longer than non-golfers.

Glad I'm not the only one that likes to spoil a good walk by lugging a set of clubs round with me :-)

Me too, alongside music making!

Gaming, chatting on discord, walking, learning piano, taking photos, go out on my motorcycle, reading, crochet, house diy... Sometimes I think I have too much choice.

Tabletop gaming (Bolt Action, Warhammer etc.) mostly, including the building & painting aspects of them - currently building/painting another Sherman for my Free French force and a Stug III G for my Romanians. That and TTRPG (D&D, Starfinder, Shadowrun etc.).

Means I mostly stay out of the Mrs' way around the house, which she seems to appreciate.

I generally get myself out in the countryside, do some hill walking and a lot of nature spotting. Apart from that I'm keen on neolithic history (which ties in nicely with the first two options) and visit many sites each year when I can.

I must find an inside activity to do and am keen to start on watch repair and maintenance, but need to free up some space in the house first as I'll need a dedicated desk and places to put tools. I do a bit currently, but really want to learn how to strip them down and repair them properly.

It's strange that the smaller the hobby the more space you need!

That will be a nice hobby. I really liked watching watch repair videos on youtube - absolutely fascinating.

I see stuff like that on the Repair Shop, and it really is fascinating, as well as very satisfying. I'm not sure I'd ever have the patience or dexterity to do what any of those guys could do, though!

Painting Warhammer [40k] miniatures. Not very wife-friendly, though: for some reason she's not that bothered about my hand-painted space monsters. We have an allotment now, too, which is mainly my OH's hobby that I help out with.

We'll shortly be taking up parenting, so I think that's probably my free time block-booked for the next decade or so.

Me too. The Nekkid Watchmaker, as well as a few others are my go to. Another thing I need to do is to buy the more pricier tools. This can add up to a small fortune when it comes to spring winders and various presses etc. but is something I really want to learn as I have more than a few watches as well as a lot of ones in need of a service and some minor repairs I'd picked up from a local auction house for a few quid. Many of these are Swiss but had for about £10 each as most are not working.

I go out walking/birdwatching. I’m always on the alert for birds… so the walk will always involve birdwatching even if I don’t take my binoculars.

To be honest it’s just taking an interest in nature generally. Bugs, mammals… plants have the advantage because they stay still [emoji3] I relax by being surrounded by nature [emoji4]

What a great thread! So nice to hear from fellow edugeekers about what they do outside of geeking! For me, I guess number 1 is sport, mostly racket sport. Have very slowly chilled out and haven't broken anything in a very long time! Currently quite a lot of tennis and padel tennis, plus a once a week badminton and squash. Table tennis in the garden if it ever stops raining. Previously, pool and snooker, occasional darts. When the lungs allow, mountain-biking in the mud and slopes of my surrounds. On holiday, really keen wind-surfer. Recently paddle boarding. A smidge of sailing. Fairly regular at cooking. A fair bit of DIY and still struggling to let the pros do the work as my standards are sky-high. Getting back to a little angling as one son interested. So overall, quite active which is a good job given the hobby I haven't mentioned which involves bit of beer and wine!

Oh, and one more - Lifelong learning - I'm nearly always signed up to a course of some sort or another learning or extending my skills in something.

I'm now really interested to here from the OP as to which of the activities mentioned spark an interest?

As in RV or light aircraft?

Light aircraft. Trying to do my PPL which eats up a massive chunk of money so have to do it over a longer period. Will get there eventually.

Making music or more to the point jus creating musical noise :-) . Most of my hobbies involved a PC (CADCAM, 3d printing, DAW, desktop video) which became tiresome as working from home 3 days a week so invested in some old and new synth hardware so not reliant on a PC.

Running, volunteering at parkrun and Jui-Jitsu regularly keeps me out of the house. I don't watch MSM so it is Netflix and YouTube when I'm not doing any of the above.

What music style do you make?

80's 90's electro/synth genre sound. Inspirations from likes of Depeche Mode, Ultravox, Human League, Gary Numan, OMD, Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, etc. :-)

But trying to learn the piano a bit too.

I like that sort of stuff.

Recently been listening to this which has a nice 80's influence to it...

Occasional gaming, Nature and Landscape Photography. Walk the dog. Recently starting to get back into Model Railways. have a smallish board with track but have started to use free software to make a decent plan then build it. downside to this is cost, UK N gauge scale is not as cheap as it used to be!!

Sleep is my biggest thing outside of work!! I do a bit with the camera now and again, but main hobby is vintage vehicles, in my case old fire engines. Rebuild, restore, look after, maintain, then take to show, but all working. In fact out next weekend near Malton at a country fair, nice big lake to set into for the weekend.

What I spend most time doing is gaming, but I enjoy a lot of 'making' activities; mostly things like electronics and engineering/woodworking, but also general DIY / fixing things, including the cars. I've never been a particularly active person, so as little exercise as physically possible!

I used to be heavily involved in archery and airsoft, and would like to take them up again, just need to actually pull myself together and do it.
