plumyeti Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 Looking to get into some different hobbies other then binge watching Netflix after work. What do you guys do in your free time to relax?
chris_uk Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 Recently got myself a drone - https://www.instagram.com/drone.chris/ Great for getting me out, shame the weather has been so rubbish recently.
pooley Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 I run long, it's the only time I have to myself and the only thing i'm 100% selfish about. 2
5tu Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 Recently got myself a drone - https://www.instagram.com/drone.chris/ Great for getting me out, shame the weather has been so rubbish recently. Awesome pictures @chris_uk. The Mini 3 Pro has been on my Amazon wish list for months and you might just have given me the encouragement I needed! 1
MrRedd11 Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 I edit videos of me and my friends gaming! It kills a fair few hours and in years to come when we all don't game as much, we can all look back on "the good old days". 4
Garacesh Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 Video games and painting Warhammer, usually. Or just chilling in voice chat with folks on Discord.
3s-gtech Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 Training - whether gym, track or just out and about, keeping fit. Does my mental health even more good. Fixing and making things - no end of broken stuff (not PCs!) to work on, mostly cars. Not as relaxing, but very satisfying.
Rob_D Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 Fly planes, keep tropical fish As in RV or light aircraft? For my own part:Mostly writing (I have 2 scifi books on amazon), and gaming (both computer and tabletop) - I managed to wrangle an invite to a D&D campaign that ran over most of last year and I'm hoping the group gets back together for another campaign in the future. If nothing comes of it, I might co-opt some friends and try my hand at DMing. The D&D thing also got me into painting minis - which is a great "something to do with my hands" while I'm binging netflix. Also a bit of 3d (computer) modeling, although I'm not great at it and mostly just use it to visualise stuff for my writing. 1
chris_uk Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 Awesome pictures @chris_uk. The Mini 3 Pro has been on my Amazon wish list for months and you might just have given me the encouragement I needed! 100% worth it! Drop me a message if you want to chat about it. 1
Davit2005 Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 (edited) Making music or more to the point jus creating musical noise :-) . Most of my hobbies involved a PC (CADCAM, 3d printing, DAW, desktop video) which became tiresome as working from home 3 days a week so invested in some old and new synth hardware so not reliant on a PC. Running, volunteering at parkrun and Jui-Jitsu regularly keeps me out of the house. I don't watch MSM so it is Netflix and YouTube when I'm not doing any of the above. HarryMonkey Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 I like to get out and about with my camera (I'm a member of the local camera club). I also enjoy model kits (Airfix etc). These have had to take a backseat of late as we have just moved and, for the 1st time in 10 years, have a garden which seems to eat up loads of time (and money)!
Popular Post DalekSec Posted May 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 11, 2023 I have 2 kids and a dog, what is this relax you speak of? 10
dhicks Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 What do you guys do in your free time to relax? Watching and/or taking part in various live comedy shows - a mixture of long/short improvised, stand-up and sketch. Rather dropped off during Covid, so do need to make more of an effort to get back into it a bit more.
Mako Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 Mostly gaming. Over lockdown I started Twitch streaming which I ended up affiliated.
RobD Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 I run (when I can), doing some thai boxing (basically involves 17 year olds beating me sensless) and BBQ (I love slow cooking a beef brisket for 8 hours on the BBQ)! 1
Popular Post dhicks Posted May 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 11, 2023 I have 2 kids and a dog, what is this relax you speak of? Place child on scooter, tie dog to scooter, shout "Squirrel!" and point down the road. Should keep both dog and child out of trouble (or, at least, out of your way) for several hours. 7
ITGuyNW Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 I attempt to get through my backlog of video games then fall asleep.
EssentialRug Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 I run, read and try (very badly) to brew beer occasionally. (Not all at the same time).
Popular Post Geoff Posted May 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 11, 2023 (edited) I sail my yacht. I also keep bees and I brew mead. The yacht and the bees do not like each other. So I try and flip between them seasonally. This means I do most of my sailing in the off-season (head south for the winter) Ideally when I have enough experience I will be able to do this properly and take part in the cross Atlantic flotilla. Leaving from the Channel in September and arriving back in March after hitting Jamaica at Christmas day. The bees will be sleeping for these months. My current short term goal is to get interrupted by a Teams call either when inspecting my hives or sailing my yacht and freak the attendees out. Edited May 11, 2023 by Geoff 5
Brax Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 I go to the gym minimum three times a week after work and go on walks as often as I can which really helps my mental. Other than that, reading, games with friends on discord, video editing, making games in unity. I'd like to get into mead brewing too seems super fun.
JMSJ Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 Mostly gaming and the gym but occasionally working on my car when needed
