We have Aruba Central and push out the HPE onboarding app. This authenticates with their Entra ID (so only staff can get on) and then connects them. Seems the easiest way since all this CA Android stuff came about.

Yeah when we had the Cambium system we had zero complaints whatsoever, it was just that CtC came along and we had to jump ship. I am guessing the setup of having licence costs built into the hardware rather than an ongoing subscription has possibly hurt them.

We're on WS22 and no issues here.

There goes my plan to sell 45 access points haha

They want people to use the cloud version of Inventry but it then fails at even basic things such as setting autocodes.

I just have NOW tv now. If you cancel now and again you get better pricing, for example we watch a lot of sports and we get all that for £17 a month. I think in total was spend £30 for absolutely everything Sky. We don't even have an aerial now, we just use a firestick and catch up services.

Civica Cashless Catering - Biometric software installation
ITGuyNW replied to Theldron2.0's topic in Educational Software
Just an update on this to make people laugh. Been waiting since July 21st for the biometric installation to be completed and they're still troubleshooting issues. -
tv show BBC's Ski Sunday to end after nearly 50 years

Extremely disappointed in this decision as its these types of programmes that make the BBC unique. -
Microsoft Entra - MFA Registration Campaign
ITGuyNW replied to speckledegg's topic in Cloud Services
We have two policies setup to deal with this. We only allow MFA registration while connected to school, otherwise what stops someone not the intended user from registering MFA? We block registration out of school using trusted IP and we allow access in school without prompting MFA (currently). This means without MFA, they will always be challenged off site. If they weren't blocked, they would be prompted to set up MFA. This forces staff to setup in school if they ever want to access anything outside of it. -
So our migration initially went well, with SIMS and the SQL migrated to a VM. However. A week later, our Veeam backup failed with a "used by another process" error and now I cannot merge/restore back to the original parent. I've asked if we can get SIMS put back on the host instead of a VM. They make me incredibly uneasy.
-
Hi all Does anyone here use Hyper-V and Veeam together and encounter any issues? Our VM count has increased so I have started using Veeam to back them up but keep hitting issues, which now includes our SIMS server! After 2 or 3 days, backups will fail saying the checkpoint failed due to the virtual machine being used by another process. When I look at process monitor, it draws blank. What this also does is it creates AVHDX children which fail to merge with the parent properly. Anyone have any clue what the cause of this be as I seem to be going round in circles a bit.

Civica Cashless Catering - Biometric software installation
ITGuyNW replied to Theldron2.0's topic in Educational Software
As far as I know we are under contract (I'll double check) but apparently they no longer use trust-e but use Wonde instead and will sort it for us for the bargain price of £750 !! -
Nationwide Trust-E Cashless Catering Install
ITGuyNW replied to jj99's topic in How do you do....it?
three years later... I'm stuck wanting to install the SIMS Trust-e extractor. Any tips? -
Civica Cashless Catering - Biometric software installation
ITGuyNW replied to Theldron2.0's topic in Educational Software
Is this the trust-e installer stuff? We have migrated SIMS servers but they said we're not allowed to set it up ourselves and it will be a charge! -
Played through the recent 007 game. Pretty decent. I tried Lego Batman but it just didn't click for me.

We had a Cambium system throughout school on 6E but then we were eligible for CtC and it all got swapped out for Aruba. I wish we still had the Cambium system!! EDIT - If anyone wants to buy 50 access points I'm here..

Hi Yeah its all added. If a student is logged in for 30-40 minutes they appear. It's not every student either. It's like its going to sleep and either something is maybe timing out and retrying the connection or its crashing and restarting somehow. What version installer are you using? It feels like it started to show issues after the latest 2.10.1.999 update.

Was it just arbor? we seem to have had a few google and random website outages today.

Hi all We recently signed up for classroom.cloud however things are going a bit pear shaped. We keep losing connections to computers with "not connected". If a student logs in, it can maybe be 45 minutes before classroom.cloud kicks in (if ever). It's either crashing or in a stuck state. I have tried the various filter/service restarts/software reinstalls but nothing is being fixed. I have reached out to support but I find them extremely slow. Has anyone else experienced this?

Android 13 or 14 / Smoothwall / www.google.com
ITGuyNW replied to timbo343's topic in Cloud Services
2 year old thread revival I am testing BYOD and no matter what I do, gmail app will not sync when we use any Wi-Fi point through Smoothwall. Gmail website works fine, also the other items such as drive sync fine. I have tested this on Android 14 and 16. I have tried HTTPS inspection/Do not inspect/ validate certificate with no difference in result. Anyone come across this? -
Doesn't sound good. Our "migration" is soon and I am not looking forward to it.
