elsiegee40 Posted March 26, 2020 Posted March 26, 2020 I didn't know this clapping the NHS was even a thing. Heard some fireworks going off around 8, so that was probably why. I thought it was just scally kids. While I was walking to the shop earlier today, I noticed quite a few kids had drawn pictures of rainbows and stuck them in their windows. Is this a thing, too? It certainly is. The rainbows are there for other kids to spot and count on walks 1
StevieM Posted March 26, 2020 Posted March 26, 2020 It certainly is. The rainbows are there for other kids to spot and count on walks Then I'll try and remember to count them next time. 1
hardtailstar Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 It certainly is. The rainbows are there for other kids to spot and count on walks It's not always rainbows is it? Lots of my friends last week were putting teddy's in Windows. Not many clapping in my area but I think that's because many are old and don't use social media. Was video calling friends at the same time so could hear all their cheers etc. Saw lots of posts calling people to do it next Thursday too. Hopefully that'll catch on and more people will be outside clapping.
LeMarchand Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 It's not always rainbows is it? Lots of my friends last week were putting teddy's in Windows. ??? Probably means something else entirely. Probably not good for social distancing either! I heard the applause ("Clap for Carers" isn't the best slogan...) being talked about on the radio in the next room, but at no point did they mention when and how to do it - so missed it as I assumed it was going to be a Facebook thing. That said I was working to 1900h, as I had a long lunch to do the weekly shop, and getting dinner ready around 2000h. 1

FishCustard Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 Not exactly surprised given how many people in Westminster seem to have been infected. Symbolically it's interesting but given that he's otherwise healthy and reports only mild symptoms it's of no real consequence. Now if a certain other world leader happened to contract it, that may be more interesting... 2
Seb1780 Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 Does Boris read EduGeek? Once again (in his twitter video) he mentions "teachers and all those who work in schools" - we're getting some recognition 1
mikeprice Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 For anyone cycling around at the moment - road.cc have come up with an idea of how far behind another cyclist you should stay https://road.cc/content/news/how-much-distance-should-you-leave-cyclist-ahead-272229#comment-form

FishCustard Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 (edited) Is the huge official machine, Boris? Is the government being tested, or do two ministers have the equivalent of mild flu? Typical political journalist hyperbole. (Note - I'm not downplaying COVID-19's seriousness generally, just saying that these two people appear to have very mild disease) Edited March 27, 2020 by FishCustard
ICTDirect_Dave Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 Johnson and hancock have both been tested. You'd have to imagine there will be more tests now. Let us hope they pull through quickly as Dominic Raab has been designated as the Minister who'll take over if Boris is incapacitated for any length of time!!
CHiLL Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 For the moment, he's leading the government from home, so there shouldn't be much change unless his health seriously deteriorates. I reckon there will be more tests, however it'll start with the government and health workers. I don't think it will change for us normies, not for a while yet anyway.

CHiLL Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 ..... Hah. My cat is like that, she doesn't know what to do! Though cats are experts at social distancing, so maybe we can learn something from them!
mikeprice Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 (edited) Coronavirus scammers are accusing people of breaking the rules and trying to take their money Only to be expected I suppose Edited March 27, 2020 by elsiegee40
mikeprice Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 Went out for my government authorised cycle ride this afternoon FAR fewer people out except hear houses - my route goes past a local beauty spot (it has a great view across the Mersey to the chemical factories - you have to define the word 'beauty') and last time I went past the car park was full - today it was empty looks like people are behaving!!
