kennysarmy Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 Hi all, My Huwawe P8 lite 2017 has only 16gb internal storage and is starting to limit what I can keep installed app wide, there is a microSD card fitted for photos etc, but still the internal storage keeps alerting me that it's almost full I'm on giff-gaff, as is the rest of the family. I'm looking at what I've can upgrade to, research is pointing me to a Moto G6 plus. Has anyone got any views? Not looking to pay more than £250 and I'd put camera quality up as one of my main requirements. I play golf once a week and do like to take course shots and videos. Any input appreciated.
ICTDirect_Dave Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 The VKworld S8 gets good reviews online. It's cheap enough that I've considered buying one as a backup https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vkworld-S8-6-18-9-Full-Screen-Octa-Core-4G-LTE-Fingerprint-Smartphone-4-64GB/273509411464
3s-gtech Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 The Moto G6 is highly rated as a camera phone.

Andycat Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 The Moto G6 is highly rated as a camera phone. My daughter has the Moto G6 PLAY variant, and this has massive shutter lag, so stick away from this particular one.

LeMarchand Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 @bossman suggested the Cubot range on a similar (non-camera specific) thread: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/general-chat/196389-new-phone-time.html#post1678967 They're on my list for when my phone needs to be retired. Though maybe by then someone will have released a phone that runs W10 "full fat" version. 1

Andycat Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 Well that's annoying Don't know if it affects the whole range, she's got the cheapest one, but it's insanely slow!
3s-gtech Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 My daughter has the Moto G6 PLAY variant, and this has massive shutter lag, so stick away from this particular one. Yup, that's noted in the reviews - it's quite different to the regular G6.

ICTDirect_Dave Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 Not such good comments here https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vkworld-S8-5-99-18-Smartphone-Black/product-reviews/B078QS6LTV They're the first couple of bad reviews I've seen. Interesting that there's only the two reviews. Still, this chap seems to like it.
rogerdnixon Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 I've got the Moto G6 Plus and it's got a good camera. Much better than my old Nexus 6.

rogerdnixon Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 None at all that I've noticed. Its about £250 atm.
LeMarchand Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 This review marks camera quality as a bad https://www.review-hub.co.uk/cubot-x18-plus-review/ I looked on Amazon, and I'd suspect that the camera is OK in decent light but not so good in low light.
TechMonkey Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 Looked at the Nokia phones? We have got a batch of Nokia 5s that have been solid. We are looking at the 5.1 now and have got a Nokia 7.1 for a marketing bod who wants to take photos and video. The 7.1 is just shy of the £300 so the 5.1 maybe the way to go, at around £150. 5.1 review

mikkydoos Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 The Moto G6 is highly rated as a camera phone. I've got the G6 Amazon version. Camera is ok but not amazing. The G6 plus has the best one in that range and its good.
steveg Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 I've got the amazon version of the G6 as a work phone, also got my dad and my daughter one too. Def worth going for over the non Amazon version, as it has twice the storage space. I've found the camera to be pretty good, and heard no complaints from my dad who takes a lot of pictures. They do occasionally reduce the price on it, think I paid £199, so whatever phone you go for may be worth waiting till black Friday? Steve
Localtechie Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 Original Pixel would be my shout - Great camera on that.
chrisakak9 Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 (edited) you can also move the apps to the sd card (apk files not app data). you might also be able to simply extend the memory as adorable storage https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/help/how-to-extend-storage-using-sd-card-t3614396/amp/ have you considered rooting the phone and using link2sd to move everything to sd? MkII Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 Sammy S8s are going for £250+ refurbished from resellers right now. Great camera plus removable storage.
