rwood10 Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 As the title says, Has anyone been brave enough to jump both feet in at the deep end and apply the update yet? If so are there any issues that anyone has experienced? Cheers
fiza Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Our local SIMS Unit are installing it for us at 4pm today.

WithoutMotive Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Our LA has it and will release it within the week. I'm hoping to install over Easter. I need to progress to SOLUS3 before summer but I don't think our LA are too clued up about it yet.
bossman Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Our LA has it and will release when they are happy with it, I will wait the arbitrary 3 recalls before applying hehe!
StephenHardy Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Went on yesterday at 13:20 - no real issues. Only failed on 4 out of 200 stations
StephenHardy Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Word of note however, if you have an earlier version installed on Windows 10, Solus wont recognise it as online until you delete the station in SOLUS and re-add to update it
kennysarmy Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 I've just installed SOLUS3 on the server and pushed out all the agents ready to have a go at using this new deployment method in the Easter Holidays. I asked our LEA if they had any updated instructions as they normally issue about 4-5 pages to go with the SOLUS2 updates, this was their response: We have not yet used SOLUS3 for an upgrade so have not produced a set of instructions as yet. I’m not sure it would need any anyway as all you have to do is “download” and then “deploy”. The rest is automatic. Should be a doddle then!
localzuk Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Our support team have delayed the planned rollout (due to happen this week), as Capita have withdrawn the SLG upgrade that would need to be installed. We're now getting it between 12th and 14th April.
clockend25 Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Got a re-release of the SLG update this morning.
localzuk Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Got a re-release of the SLG update this morning. Not enough time for testing to stick to the original roll-out schedule though I don't think!
matt40k Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Looks like @linkazoid has already found a bug - http://www.edugeek.net/forums/mis-systems/167439-spring-2016-full-release-2.html#post1437654
WithoutMotive Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Just had an email from our LA releasing it to us today. Might wait until the second week of the holidays before doing anything with it.
Atomic_Zombie Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 'Tolerance not met for target SIMS database' Do 'View Detail', click on the server and click on 'agent deployment log'. It should tell you why it failed in there.
clockend25 Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Yeah, it's because it's seeing the current version as 0.0.0.0 for some reason. A restart of the SOLUS agent normally sorts it, but not this time apparently.
howartp Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 We put it on on Monday; no problems discovered here yet. Haven't tested the bug mentioned above.
linkazoid Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Latest SIMS update on bug mentioned on the other thread. I have just checked the case and I can confirm that it is still open and escalated to our development team. I will keep you updated with any further progress. Other schools have also now reported this issue, so it has been escalated as a critical issue.
AJWhite1970 Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 Did ours last night, went on without a hitch other than SOLUS tried to install the patch before the major Spring update, a quick redeploy of the patch after the main update and it installed.
WithoutMotive Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Getting this done this afternoon. However, no confidence after an email from the LA SIMS Support ended with "Good luck!". What aren't they telling me??
Sylv3r Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Installed it fine at the start of last week. Obvioussly with it being half term I don't have any users on site to give it a full test.
FN-GM Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Got it installed on a primary and secondary. The students are not back yet but people have been using it ok.
bossman Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Installed last week when the staff were off, no problems to date smooth and quick installation on both server and clients, also updated FMS and discover too as this was a perfect opportunity, no problems to report.
