  1. Hi All, Are any schools out there still using OMR machines? We have a school still using one that stopped working recently, and the school think it is to do with the latest SIMS update. All the usual COM port fun has been had, we've logged it with Capita who have asked us a million and one questions which is suspicious for them. So, do you know of any other schools with OMR machine issues after the Autumn release? Thanks
  2. The file you are looking for is FMSConnect.ini . Connect.ini is only for SIMS . the default database name is FMSSQL , that may help you find the DB. also look in the DATA folder of your SQL installation (eg C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.SIMS2012\MSSQL\DATA)
  3. Sounds like it, most likely there is a new version for SIMS Summer.
  4. Are you using the New or Old Admin interface? have you tried using the other?
  5. The schools we support who have moved from FMS have put a standalone instance of FMS on a laptop and kept that in a safe place, that way if they need to access it they can easily.
  6. Adding a contact is how I've added added external people to dist lists, just tried it in O365 and it's giving me the option. See Image
  7. The only reason the new FMS exists is because it's a re-skin of another existing Capita finance product. If Capita Education built it from the ground up no doubt the heat death of the universe would occur long before the lone developer locked in a basement in South-East England manages to get together a coherent GUI.
  8. Processing power is the big thing, even when rejecting / dropping packets it still has to process them in some way. As a pseudo-ISP we have switched over schools to a different external IP while asking the ISP to blackhole the traffic for a few days / weeks.
  9. Hi, not too sure if this would be helpful but what we do with our multi-tenant RDS is redirect to a mapped drive which is different depending on each school, the FMSConnect in Program Files looks like this: [FMSConnection] Redirect=S:\SIMS Trusted_Connection=No
  10. How did you take the backup of the current server? If not done properly it will lose all the Passwords for users. Edit: as FishCustard mentioned above.
  11. As Esteban said, a VPN would work best. you could set up a site-to-site VPN, allowing this and any other services in the future to be shared between the sites while keeping them separate.
  12. Hi, In the past I've just imported the Databases with DBAttach, but this can sometimes cause issues with performance.
  13. Hi LazyD. I work for an LA so we have done a fair few recently, with no apparent difference with settings / process. We have seen the issue on Windows 10 and Server 2016 std. I have a hunch it's to do with Microsoft moving to a more frequent release schedule of SQL. something to do with expceted version numbers and applied service packs but I've not had chance to test this.
  14. Hi LazyD, we are seeing the same thing. we've tried the same things as you along with Windows updates etc. It seems to be hit and miss; Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't. I'm installing another instance today and going to be logging a call with Capita if I can't get it to work.
  15. Capita strikes again!
