I loved Fiendish Freddy! Great game. It came on the cartridge with Klaxx, Flimbo's quest and the terrible football game.

Yep that's the cartridge I had (Flimbos Quest was awesome as well). Used to love the games on cartridges because you didn't have to wait 5 minutes for it to load :) Had terminator 2 and Navy Seals on cartridge as well. Don't think I ever completed any of them, games where either a lot harder back then or I just sucked at them when I was a kid.

I had a Mattel Aquarius with 4K memory. Games which stood out were whatever we wrote for it as we had no cassette deck for it!

Acorn Electron - Mr Whizz, Chuckie Egg, Repton, Ghouls and Ghosts

Sega Master System - Alex Kidd, Sonic, Shinobi

Sega Game Gear - Sonic, Mickey's Castle of Illusion, and I had the adapter to play Master System Games in it!

Sega Mega Drive - Sonic, Altered Beast (easiest game ever), Streets of Rage II, Street Fighter 2 (which, on release day, I paid £60 for the game, and £20 each on two controllers with the necessary six buttons! That was a lot of money 25 years ago for a paperboy!!)

Sony PlayStation - Tekken 2, Bust-a-move 2, Spyro the Dragon (which my nine year old still loves playing!)

Sony PlayStation 2 - GT4, Jungle Party with the buzzers

Nintendo DS - My Sims Racing (although it was very easy)

Sony PSP - None really, that's why I don't have it anymore

Nintendo Wii - Ultimate Band

Sony PS3 - Little Big Planet, GT5

Only 1 & 2 though - it started to lose it after that.

Has anyone mentioned Sensible Soccer? Which I hold to be about the greatest football game I've ever played.

Just remembered Destruction Derby on the PlayStation 1, oh my days! :)

Heh. Great game, used to do the mode where all the cars would come specifically after you in the arena. fun times, couldn't last more than a minute at best usually

I usually reverted to reversing into people as that was the least damaged part of the car at the end.

I got that down to completing it about 1 in 10 times - never go into the 'crunch' at the start, switch to reversing as soon as possible and try and keep momentum so your front didn't get hit.

Is this some special edition of the megadrive specifically for games involving sorcery?

That would be awesome! But no, It's just me not proofing my posts

Not only do I remember it, I recently added it to my "games that I will probably never have time to play before I die even if I could afford to stop working today" pile along with Prisoner of Ice. They were on offer from GoG just before Xmas.

Intellivision, anyone?

Had one until about '84, when it died and was replaced by an Intellivision II, which lasted until about 1990.

Bought one again off eBay in about 2004 and played for a couple of years before moving to the UK and having to abandon it (didn't think I'd ever get it to work with the NTSC/PAL nonsense). Only console I've ever had, but played the crap out of it with more games than I can count. :-)

Here's my console history with the Game that was the reason I bought it.

Atari 2600 (Combat)

Sega Master System (Sonic)

Amiga 500+ (tons but mainly Microprose GP)

Sega Megadrive (Sonic again)

PS1 (Destruction Derby)

PS2 (Gran Turismo 3)

N64 (Goldeneye)

Xbox (Halo)

Xbox 360 (Gears of War)

Wii (Wii Sports)

Xbox One (Forza Horizon 2)

I Had a Game Gear and a PSP in there too but can't for the life of me think what game(s) I bought them for.

Did anyone ever set anything up for import gaming?

I had a wildcard for my SNES (only really for the earlier FF games) and a game converter (I think it was actually called a "Super Game Converter") for my Playstation to allow me to play such gems as Xenogears, Thousand Arms, Brigandine, Final Fantasy Tactics, Vanguard Bandits et. al.

Oh, and as for non-import, did anyone play/own Secret of Mana?

yes i had a Japanese megadrive as that could play uk/us/Japanese games as standard

snes had a convertor that took 2 carts one us/Japanese one uk. had some rpg that was entirely in Japanese (honestly cant remember the name of it now) and still managed to complete it with as far as i could tell every item slot filled

yes i remember secret of mana iirc its on wii (but not wii u )virtual console (which is a pain as though you can run that on a wii u the top up cards are different or at least you cant put points on a wii and use the remainder on wiiu/3ds)

I converted my Megadrive so I could play a JDM version of Hard Drivin' all that was involved was filing down 2 sections of the slot that you put the cartridge in to.
