It's that time of year again! Halloween and bonfire night have come and gone, the shops are now full of tinsel and the TV flooded with perfume/aftershave commercials.

So it's time we stated this years Christmas thread.

Here you can post up present ideasand (if like me are hopeless at buying gifts) ask for ideas.

I'll start you off with this small (and cheap) gift from Nintendo:

I picked it up for £10 on Saturday but the price is now £13.99!!

It's an Amiibo carry case but is just an empty case (no partitions) so can be used for anything (small) really. And it looks smart!

IT'S NOVEMBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's the point. In one months time people will be panicking.

This thread is here to prevent that from happening and allow you get your present list sorted out without last minute running around.

I will try and maintain my tradition of not worrying about the commercial side of Christmas until Christmas eve. Thankfully most people are slightly more organised than I am, meaning I cruise into the town centre 1-2 hours before the shops close and obtain all required gifts for the next day with very few other shoppers to contend with. I've also found a lot of shops start their sales on Christmas eve, so it's a winner all round!

If you do leave your shopping until Christmas eve I can highly recommend going into M&S about an hour before closing. All of that very expensive food is going for a song!

Last year we took the kids to the Winter Gardens in Blackpool on Christmas eve as they were showing the Polar Express in 3d and was very cheap to get in (about £10 for all of us IIRC).

We left about 3pm and went in M&S. Got a £45 turkey for £10 and a whole boot load of desserts, nibbles, chocolates and other stuff which would have come to over £100 for less than £30 :)

I agree with DalekSec.

It really winds me up all of a sudden we are hit with a tsunami of Christmas ads. Watching TV last night I think we saw an advert from each of the big retail groups. And they all try to outdo each other on their 'productions'.

But I like

(one of many) of the John Lewis ad.

My anniversary with the OH is conveniently (or inconveniently) around the Christmas/New Year time so I'll be enjoying myself in a log cabin for a week away from children and all that horrible festive cheer. ;)
