My advice is to check with support, if they can fix it via the console. Then it depends on your setup if it's time to switch to Newport listen to support regarding that too. I haven't run the latest released version with DHCP but I have tested various Betas with DHCP and you have significantly better features in the new one.

You also need to enter IP addresses under Interfaces. FYI: Newport has a new way to enter DHCP if I remember correctly.

Not really an answer to your question, but wouldn't it work to let them log in via the browser? Normally, most apps are blocked in a school environment, as some use cert. pinning and then it's better to always let them use the browser. Another option is Smoothwall Cloud Filter which then has its own browser for the iPad.

The size itself is probably not a big problem, but it is the large daily changes in this category that mean that it can take a while to start up. Since most browsers today have this protection built in from the start, Smoothwall probably considered it unnecessary to have double protection in Cloud Filter. You don't have a firewall rule that blocks? I was wondering if you block UDP traffic on port UDP port 3478 (for WebRTC/STUN media traffic) The old setup was to approve traffic out of TCP port 5222 but if it is blocked it goes to TCP port 443 (HTTPS) Maybe you are blocking something with Layer 7? This is peer to peer... It has been working for a long time... However, I have not tested with the Cloud Filter extension and unified client, only the old proxy setup.

I doubt it's Smoothwall, but we'll see what support finds. It would be good if you could tell us a little more about your setup. Which operating system and browser are you using? What are your hardware resources? Are you also using Smoothwall as a Firewall? How is your DNS set up? Have you tried changing it? Very often the problem is a slow Internal DNS that is also used for external traffic or you use your ISP DNS which can sometimes be very slow. If you have just switched to Smoothwall, you should contact your Smoothwall contact, so that they can properly look at your needs. Maybe switch to Smoothwall Cloud Filter with Azure login?

You should probably elaborate a bit more on what your setup looks like. Do you have an On Premise Smoothwall? What system do you use for auth? How do students log in and out?
