It's weird having a machine telling you what you should be doing. Considering joining another gym too... try and hit it every day over summer... I dunno though.

I input any extra exercise into my fitbit but food? Nah, I haven't got time for that :) Edited by witch

I do... I can shovel it away, so it makes me think about my choices. Grab a spicy pepperoni stick instead of a chocolate bar etcs.

I'm back on my fitness pal to track my eating. I've had 3 days in a row where I am well over my steps and the 1hr of activity time Google Fit is telling me I need to do. So the robot uprising begins!

I ordered myself a food diary! Hopefully it's showed up at home today. :)

I've upped my steps and activity. Might join the gym again when we get back from camping.... or just tidy up the spare room and start using the equipment in there. I just need to move more.

It's 10.15am and so far today I've done 1295 steps. I don't think I've ever hit the magic 10000 in the two weeks I've had my Fitbit. I've ran out of excuses for getting up and going for a walk now. I go up and down about 30 flights of stairs every day though.

My motivation is Pokemon Go. I went out in the rain for an hour last night. I wouldn't have done that otherwise!!

I used to play Ingress. I wish I had my Fitbit then!

Haha same! I'm doing way more steps than usual thanks to Pokemon. It's a great incentive to get out and about.

On a different note, failed a squat for the first time in ages this morning :( Hit a single and thought i had a second one in me but i was wrong. Made a right racket! No harm done though, just have to make sure i hit it next time :)

Good god!! A couple of things stopped me from deadlifting heavy.... I used to get a bit of acid reflux. People since told me that was normal and it was perfectly normal to projectile vom when deadlifting. Also some ladies had to wear tena liners because it was "perfectly normal" to pee yourself when deadlifting. I didn't want that for myself!!!

Didnt he nearly die?

He weren't far off! He was due to be competing in the Europe Strongest Man contest straight after this but had to drop out for obvious reasons.

Fair play to him though. I don't think that record is going to be broken for a good while! Benni Magnusson was way off and he's generally regarding as the no. 2.

No he was fine. It's pretty common for the big guys to pass out after a massive lift. Benni Magnusson, Jerry Pritchard and Eddie all lifted 465kgs, for a new world record and then Eddie pulled the 500 for the win (Benni failed @ 500 and Jerry didn't try). WSM in a month's time might well see some bigger lifts.

I don't think we'll be seeing a bigger lift than that for a while. Benni looked ropey on his 465 and looked way off the 500. The only other that might get close is Brian Shaw, he's apparently pulled 480 or so in training but i still don't think he'll manage 500 anytime soon.

Looking forward to WSM this year though. Laurence Shailai(SP?) is in great form (showed that by winning the euros beating Thor!), Eddie is strong as ever, Thor is always a threat, Shaw is almost unbeatable in some events and then there's Savickas. It's going to be the closest it's been in a while this year i reckon.

Hi Guys, rather than starting a new thread, does anyone have a link to a decent stretching routing. As I get older, I wan't to keep flexibility up. Cheers!

If you want to stretch whilst improving your core structure then follow Kinetic Revolution 30 day plan. As a runner it really does work for me and has improved my form and running considerably.

I follow this most weeks, but when I am 'proper' event training then I go into the 30 day programme:

30 Day Challenge - Kinetic Revolution - Building Stronger Runners

James is a great guy and responds quickly in the Facebook group to questions etc.

has anyone ever tried the personal trainer route?

I've been out of action for 6 months due to an op going wrong back in febuary. was immobile for a month, severly restricted for another month and am still a week away from being able to do more than a brisk walk.

suffice to say, i'm a leeeetle out of shape (well, round is a shape i guess)

@davidcvs Yes, I have and so has @Joanne.

I paid for a set of 4 sessions when I could no longer do the high impact classes due to the arthritis in my feet. The PT was very good, he listened to my issues, he watched me perform various exercises and worked me up a plan which kept me fit and active. After the sessions he gave me a laminated printout of the plan and I went on using it without him. It really worked for me

I had a PT for about 18 months. Initially it was to train for Tough Mudder and then Power Lifting. A side effect of the training was weight loss.

My advice for what it's worth - keep it professional with them. I learnt that the hard way.
