Hi guys! We are looking to upgrade our current instance of DPM to the latest version of 2016. We will also be upgrading the OS. Just wondered if anyone out there has performed this upgrade yet, how did it go, what sort of issues did you come across. More importantly we are looking at the way that the new version of DPM handles storage. From what ive read you can create volumes now. Ive found information on creating new protection groups but how does it handle the exisiting replicas on disk that are using the older file system Vicky IT Technician Hatton academies trust

Hello, I'm trying to find a current MSI file for chrome so that I can create a package and push it out over CC4. There's got to be an easier way surely? the last time chrome was pushed out through MSI was version 75.0.3770.100.0 - is there a way of creating a package that auto-updates or is that wishful thinking? Worst case scenario where can I find an MSI file now for Chrome as it seems to push to an application file or to Chrome enterprise, which I am also curious as to how that would work with cc4? Any help would be appreciated greatly as I fear I am going insane lol.

I'm still rocking the 2003 forest and domain functionality. I was thinking of just raising them, do I go Forest then domain.. Does it matter? All 2012r2 DCs and a few 2008r2 members and 1 2008 server. Any troubles I should check for first?

Hi, So we've been having this problem where if a staff member is logged onto their classroom machine and has chrome open, they then cannot open chrome on their laptop or another machine. We have to close the first session so they can continue. Has any one else experienced this? I've brought it up with support but they say its a chrome issue. We are running CC4 over windows server 2012r2. Thanks.

Morning everyone, I've got a major issue with KMS here. Until last week, we had all Windows 7 clients (with Office2010) activated via KMS on a server 2008R2 DC. Well this summer we have rebuilt both our DC's and upgraded them to server 2012 R2. I am trying to set KMS up and it's not working My aim is to have a KMS server which will activate Windows 7 and 10 (as we plan to roll that out over the year) as well as Office 2010 and 2016 - which we also plan to roll out. Is there a KMS key which will activate Windows 7 and 10, and another to activate office 2010 and 2016? I know this is a big ask however we can't be the first school to do this... Thanks in advance. Regards Harry

Hi, We have upgraded our domain controllers from windows server 2008r2 to windows server 2012r2. Since upgrading we have been unable to take full backups of these servers. It does backup data and i can restore data however the backups fail. I receive this error: Has anyone seen this before. Backup- \\DC1-SERVER.xxxxx-School.local\System?State V-79-57344-33928 - Access Denied. Cannot backup directory and its subdirectories.

Hi Everyone, I'm having an issue with a 2012r2 server I've inherited. It started when I was trying to figure out a problem with VSS which didn't allow to take a backup. One of the suggestions was to unregister and re-register some dlls, however, now I can't re-register some of them. I get the following error messages - which are different for different DLLs. es.dll vssapi.dll The module "xxxxx.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found. Make sure that "xxxxx.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again. eventcls.dll Vssui.dll swprv.dll The module "xxxxx.dll" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80070715. For more information about this problem, search online using the error code as a search term. This obviously stops VSS from working. When I try to do a vssadmin resize for example I get an error in the Event Viewer: Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error calling routine GetProviderMgmInterface. hr = 0x80042304, The volume shadow copy provider is not register in the system. I've done quite a bit of searching but haven't found anything that I can use. I've done chkdsk with no issues and a sfc /scannow returned that "sfc windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them". I tried sfc /scannow in safe mode with the same result. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Theo

I have eight new Windows 2019 servers to provide desktop virtualization for students, upgraded from 2012. My AD/DC is 2012r2 and the group policies that had help me lock down my previous RDS servers no longer work. Is there a GP update i can put on my 2012 server? I'm pressed for time and not sure if I can get the AD/DC upgraded to 2019 in time. Any suggestions

Hi Alll, Just trying to do a tidy up on our Hyper-V Environment and came across this. I am unsure on how it got into this state but would be nice to fix. Server:Windows Server 2012R2 VM Generation:1 Guest OSWindows Server 2012R2 As you can see from the screenshot bellow, replication of a VM is "Not Enabled" but the Primary and Replica servers have been filled in. When browsing to the VHDX files using Windows Explorer, you can see the HRL files, from a Replication. I can not simply right click on the VM and navigate to Replication and disable, the option simply is not there. I can only set up a new replica. Any help of advise would be appreciated.

Our system is a mix of 2008R2 and 2012 R2 servers/DC-s and recently we had to edit a setting for IE11, by using server 2012R2 gpo editor. I have added the IE 10 and above in this section (User Configuration\Preferences\Control Panel Settings\Internet Settings) as per: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/2898604 Settings were for browsing history, temporary internet files, check for newer version of stored pages = every time I visit the webpage (due to a request by custom site developer). Previously all gpo settings were edited in server 2008R2 gpo editor, so this was the first time that we used server 2012 method, apparently this is "recommended" because IE settings are readily available (although this particular setting can be changed using registry fragment). And now for the strange effect: Changing this setting under 2012 editor has immediately backfired, with all users on the network affected by this gpo, being unable to use Office software. Error was to do with absence of %temp% location as we quickly found googling for error text. Literally a can of worms was opened, unbeknown to us. Because this method of gpo editing in Server 2012, wipes all previous customisations for IE browser including home page, location of users temp folder, several clicks away, deep in the IE control panel. Everyone had to log off and log back on to be able to use Office software, after settings were put right. Now, I have never seen such strange behaviour of gpo editing, which resets previous customisations to detriment of all users. One could say, test it first but who would expect such consequences i.e. use of Office 2013 software). And, still no safeguard exists, so that this method can adversely affect anyone using gpo editor in this particular context. What has also happened is that power shell scripts security warning is persistently annoying anyone trying to run a ps1 script. When this gpo is unlinked, the warning disappears. Nothing will remove the warning, including policy bypass command or adding unc path of the script to intranet/trusted zones. Well, it seems that server 2012 method of gpo edits of IE settings also changes some power shell security context, that no one has been able to undo (rewriting the gpo is last resort). Any similar experiences or advice how to deal with this unforeseen gpo fuss?
