  1. so your child domain DNS servers can forward request to your root DNS servers for external lookups.
  2. that's fine, all your resources are in child domain and you should set as mentioned.
  3. Yes, point each DC to itself if DNS is also homed on it What's in the root domain?
  4. Also, you may have to update your MX records if your external IP is changing, and NAT address, but seems like youre keeping the same IP. Which I dont know how you can do without bringing Exch down therefore you will have downtime and users will receive NDR if you ISP can park messages for you.
  5. Agree with the above, Exchange isn't really designed for POP3, SMTP is the way forward. There is no way of giving your users what they need because your management have said that yu must use this provider. Tell them simply they cant unless you bring email in house, i.e Exchange. Do not use PST files on shared drives, not supported at all and they will cause you issues, trust me, you will then have more issues to deal with, possibly financial/security. PST are long gone, dont go back there, too many cons than pros. Move over to Exchange/MAPI/HTTP or your users carry on as they are. Dont waste your time with a POP connector, as mentioned too much agro.
  6. why not use OWA? Why directly?
  7. there might be some cost involved but use live@edu or your current messaging system? What do you use now?
  8. what do you mean rebuild the domain? Are you not doing a intra migration then? Sounds like you're going to scrap everything and start again?
  9. Would have been easier with 2007/2010, with 2003 it's a bit of a pain, you will have to set restrictions, consider writing a script to set this attirubute, maybe try admodify too Or uprade to 2007/2010 and use transport rules.
  10. 1. How may Forests do you have? 2. How many Exch Orgs do you have or plan on having?
  11. 1. Well I think you know as you've already mentioned this. Configure Exch so it ill accept emails for both. Create a policy with the new smtp domain and stamp all users with this, leave the old one smtp domain for a few months and make sure the new domain is set as the primary so users are ware of it. Update siganatures etc..
  12. 1. Test your autodiscover from Outlook. Seems to be an issue with Autodiscover. 2. Test and Verify Autodiscover & 3. Check and set your internal URI for all three - Security warning when you start Outlook 2007 and then connect to a mailbox that is hosted on a server that is running Exchange Server 2007 or Exchange Server 2010: "The name of the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the sit
  13. Exchange unleashed is good,
  14. only on user with the issue or more? Create a new Outlook profile and tets Create a new windows profile and test
  15. Can you pos the complete NDR or PM me. Can you send to this receipient use OWA (internally? Create a new Outlook profile and test. Can other internal users send to this domain and/or other recipients at this domain?
  16. . It can work but each tiem themessage goes throug it will be at the bottm of them email not at the bottom of thee recent message. 2.
  17. 1. What veriosn of Exch? 2. Five full mailbox permission to micheleh on the mihu mailbox and also give the send as permission to be able to send as that user.
  18. 1. Disable active sync for this user who set the message. 2. Check the Outbo in case the message is sitting in there whichcan cause a loop. 3. Close Outlook and check via OWA to see if the message is being sent. 4. I have seen some issue with Iphone and duplictae emails
  19. 1. Wait for SP2 you can use GAL segmenatation which should be out Oct/Nov hopefully. 2. If not then you can mess around with address lists and permission them and hide the GAL for year 3. May have to crate a group for everyone bar year 3 to read the GAL and dont put these this year in there. Quite messy.
  20. Wait for Exch SP2 to be released later on this year, should help you. GAL segmentation is hwat yu need. You can set perms via adsiedit but that's about it. You can mess around with this and maybe get it right but it's quite abit to do. Maybe put all your staff into an OU and restric who can send to the,, use features like moderation if you wish. GAL - is there for it;s purpose.
  21. Have to have Uni groups, methoid above is a good idea.
  22. 1. Cant do it with a GAL, a GAL exists for the entire Exch Org (all domains) 2. Exch SP2 will have something called GAL segmentation which should allow this but it isnt out yet. 3. You can may create address and maybe mess around with permissions on that. Not supported though.
  23. There's a few links in the net - see this Installing, Configuring and Testing an Exchange 2007 Cluster Continuous Replication (CCR) Based Mailbox Server (Part 1) & Cluster Continuous Replication: Exchange 2007 Help If you get stuck, post back
  24. do you want to use CCR replication or SCC. Seems like SCC which is legacy, you should consider CCR. Decide what you want 1st, I'd recommend CCR. It;s the way forward. If you havent deployed 2007 yet, then I'd go for Exch 2010
  25. SMTP connector address or smarthost?
