Check disabled status of multiple mailboxes (and then Delete them)
sukh replied to RabbieBurns's topic in Enterprise Software
1. If you just delete the accounts it wont just delete the mailboxes. What you should do is remove the user from the EMC which will delete the account and mailbox, or if you disable the the mailbox it will just mark the mailbox for deletion and leave the user account alone. Perform these actions via the EMC. Although you can do it via AD, it;s cleaner via EMC. 2. -

Cannot add entry into public folder calendar but can on others???
sukh replied to ranj's topic in Enterprise Software
1. Check the DACL state of the PF folder using PFDAVAdmin and fix the DACL if it's not right. 2. Do the permissions for this user stay there or do they disappear? I.e as owner? 3. Do you have the same issue when trying to change in OWA? 4. As a test, create a test user and give it owner permission and test, does that work? -
Problems with Outlook authentication and Exchange 2003

How much did your Exchange 2010 mailbox store size increase by?
sukh replied to gshaw's topic in Enterprise Software
1. There will still be an increase so expect that, there isnt actually a formula as such but you can expect at the min of 20%. SIS was lost ion 2007, only attachments were kept, now this has been removed from 2010 too so there isnt going to be that much of an increase. If from 2003 then yes, there would be. 2. Dumpster changes in exch 2010 will also contribute towards the increase in storage, exch 2010 dumpster v 2.0 ismore disk hungry. 3. If you have quotas and semd.receive lmits in place then I wouldnt worry, but plan and make sure it meets your RPO/RTO SLA. Sukh -
1. High Availability - So this would mean SMTP if your using app relay, OWA, CAS services, HUB's will automatically be FT/LB in the same AD site. MBX, , you can use DAG Groups with native exch 2010 replication. And I dont think your using edge for your gateway? 2. For 700 users you could have all the roles (HUB, CAS & MBX) on the same server, however you wont be able to provide HA for the MBX and CAS server if you intend to use WNLB as they both cant exist in this configuration. You will then have to split the roles. Also, if you plan to use edge you cant have this co-exist on the same server as CAS/HUB/MBX, it must be in on it's own server (even virtual) on the dmz. You need to know what the requirements are and how critical the email services is, it could be that you only want to have DAG and leave the HUB and CAS servers alone.

New exchange server on new domain - how do I do it?
sukh replied to sidewinder's topic in Wired Networks
1. I take it this migration was all good? 2. For the large imports either do it via Outlook or import request, you may have to play with bad items count which may cause some imports to fail. Sukh -
1. For exch 2007/2010 - Outlook should use autodiscover to configure MAPI profiles, it will use the internal SCP to discover and configure.
-
1. Do you want HA for Exch? I assume you plan on using 2010? 2. Do you want to split the roles up? 3. Really depends on your requirements and usage per mailbox. 3. 1. If all your mailboxes and PF are moved over to exch 2010, then you dont really need exch 2003 as it seems like you want to decomm anyway. 2. So leave your InterOP connectors the way they are and your exch 2003 internet connector. 3. Make sure you have a send and receive connector on Exch 2010 so all mail is routed via Exch 2010. 4. Disable exch 2003 services, leave off for a week then if all is good decomm exch gracefully following the instructions on technet. (Add/remove). 5. Before you do point 4 make sure that you have moved all components over to exch 2010, like OAB, EAP, accepted domains etc....

1. You sholdnt be able to see the enteries, only there free/bus which set the default permissions. You can't easily changes theses, not sure why this is an issue as if one wanted to book and meeting you would want to check the availability.

1. By default exch 2003 wont allow relaying unless a config has been changed, 2. GFI will prevent spam but that doesnt mean it will prevent relaying, only spam coming into your Org. 3. It could be spyware/virus internally on your network. 4. Have yoyu got AV deployed on all your desktop and servers and are they up to date? 5. Can you verify point 4? Do you have centralised reporting for your Av to show update status? 6. When messgae are sent, are t hey sent internally to users or externally? 7. Can you post a message header of one? 8. Check Exch 2003 MT and SMTP logs (if not turned on turn on now). 9. KB posted by Bart is good, follow that. 10. If your concerned then describe your mail setup? Exch? gateways? Firewalls, how meesage flow internally and externally. Thanks Sukh

Backup Exec 2010 reports corruption in Exchange Mail Store.
sukh replied to RabbieBurns's topic in Enterprise Software
1. What do the logs say in event viwer, I have seen issue where 3rd party backups have suggested they have failed but havent. 2. Check ESEBAckup and ESE in the event logs and see if exch backup is a success or failure, you should see event id's, like 212,213,214, 215, -
1. Users can do this and so can exch admin. There was an issue with exch 201 SP1 where users couldnt do it but SP4 should address that.
