Same, all SIMS data going back to xxx was transferred to new MIS for us. I still have the old SIMS server, but its not been getting any updates and i'll shut it down soon.

These are the basic steps I completed. I am away for the next week, but if you need more info about any of the steps, let me know and ill help you late next week. Set static IP on new DC Set external time service Check if old server is FRS or DFRS - Needs to be DFS-R. Run DCDIAG on old DC Join the new server to your domain Install the Active Directory Domain Services role Promote the new server to a domain controller Check DNS forwards and scavenging settings Update NIC settings on both DCs. Primary DNS = pointing to other DC, secondary = itself 127.0.0.1 Add new server to DHCP server options Update devices with fixed IP addresses with new DNS info Move Flexible Single Master Operation (FSMO) roles to new server Move DHCP from old server to new server De-authorise the old DHCP Server At this point I tuneded of the old server to see if clients couls still log in. Whan all good I turned the old DC back on. Remove old DC server from new servers DHCP scopes Demote your old domain controller Raise the domain and forest functional levels on new DC

Think i have worked out a nice, very simple solution. Simply add the modified column to AD window. Not 100% sure, but I think the modified date is the last time the device accessed AD.

Same. We had all sorts off issues with them. Once I contacted our account manager (who is no longer there) with a restore issue and he came back a week later with a sales pitch, trying to get us to buy some dark web password checking products. I was not happy.

I thought that targeted 2fa on 365 was not part of the free version, and conditional access was not part of the free Google Workspace version. I always thought that these security systems should be free for schools, after all, being able to say your system is more secure for schools than the competitors is a win win.

So it does oddly seem to be the gestures causing this. Not sure why its an issue on just these laptops, or why the issues comes back shortly after the profile has been deleted. I went through and disabled 4 finger gestures, 3 finger gestures, all standard gestures and those laptops all seem fine now.

We use Google Docs for this on different device types.

I don't think its this as the mouse sometimes jumps around even when nobody is using the mouse pad. I might give this a go when I am next in anyway, just in case the extra functionality of the gestures is causing it to go crazy. Yes

Sorry, forgot to put that I have tried this, the laptops are fine for a few weeks and then it starts playing up.

We got 8 new Dell Vostro laptops about 6 months back and 3 of them keep having mouse pad issues. Basically the mouse just jumps randomly around the screen, clicking and moving items, which makes them unusable. Its like the mouse button is stuck down. When I start to go through the very long list of things to check before Dell will take a look, they start to work, but then will have the same issue a few weeks later. Its very random at which point through the Dell list the mouse starts working. One thing I have noticed is, if I log onto the laptop as a different user, that new user doesn't seem to have the mouse issue. Currently the users with the issue are using an external mouse. Anyone else have this issue? Any idea what is causing this?

I thought you could also choose "different model replacement" and you could keep the license, is that not the case?

I went from Plex to Emby and it worked fine so was probably a plex thing. TBH Emby was way better than plex anyway IMO.

Windows backup which is free even does entire VM backup, that also lets you extract individual files if needed. No need to do individual drive backups in any backup app.

It does help if you manage another Google Workspace system that you can check against.

What will this actually mean? Does this mean schools will have no choice but to buy licenses?

I didn't have 'Domain Computer' in the GPO originally. It only started working after I added that as read only. Always good to know its not just me

If I look at the 'Authenticated Users' rights under delegation, it lists read in the main window, but if i then click 'Advanced' it also lists 'apply'. One of the links has this - My preferred method is to configure read permissions on all existing GPOs to "Domain Computers", - although it doesn't go over the reason why. The last link doesnt open = https://azurecloudai.blog/2018/12/31/most-common-mistakes-in-active-directory-and-domain-services-part-1/ this is interesting as it says not to use 'Apply' for the authenticated users, but the other site says the opposite, grrrr
