This is my dream setup :-)

I am just setting up a new print server running on Windows server 2022, this is for a very small primary school. I'm having problems deciding which MFP driver to download from the toshiba site, so wondered which you would go with, as the choices don't seem that great to me. https://www.toshibatec.eu/support/drivers/SearchDriver?searchString=e-studio3515ac Cheers

No, but when I mentioned this to the office staff, one of them had a mini meltdown :-)

There was a reddit post about this last year and someone posted up a list of all the main companies with dropped products and MS were just as bad :-) FYI - MS are dropping Publisher in 2 years

I'm 'actually' considering giving Google's Window MDM solution a go at one of my schools. Staff can log into Windows with their Google creds, and possibly no domain controller needed at some point. Been reading up on a few schools that have already done this and seeing as the pupils at this school are on Chromebooks, its just staff that currently need domain stuff anyway.

EDIT, she already has a splitter, which I will remove when next over. -

Its Smart technologies. I'll pop over tomorrow and see if I can upgrade the firmware. Thanks -
Teacher keeps having issues with the smart TV switching off when she changes her powerpoint. Whenever I drive over the issue doesn't seem to happen, so I cant even investigate the laptop or TV. She is using a Smart TV and she has Office 2021 installed. She is getting rather annoyed now. Any ideas?

I am just setting up some new Chromebookks at a primary school. When I just logged in as a pupil and then open Chrome, on the bookmark bar under the URL bar is a folder named School Bookmarks. In this folder are a few websites, but I need to remove one. I have been looking all over in their Google Workspace admin settings and just cant find where this setting is coming from. As they have never had Chromebooks before, i'm guessing its not a Chromebook specific setting. Its not in Devices > Managed Browsers, as that says, Subscribe to Chrome Browser Cloud Management to continue, when I open that page. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

I was reading a Reddit forum last night with the same question. So many said they had moved away from APC and over to Eaton's UPS devices.

Been having a bad week backup wise and looking for a quick fix. I have one host server running 2 VMs. The host backs up both VM's to an older server acting as an iSCSI target. I was thinking of testing Veeam Community Edition, but on the free downloads page they have 2 options. Veeam Backup & Replication Community EditionAchieve fast, flexible and reliable backup, recovery and replication for up to 10 workloads in this FREE Community Edition. Veeam Agentfor Microsoft Windows FreeGet Veeam’s FREE backup solution for Windows-based servers, desktops and laptops. Easily back up your data to an external hard drive, NAS share or Veeam repository. I only need to create a backup of the 2 VMs on the host and send it to the iSCSI target. Which version do I need?

I have a NewUser OU with all Google apps disabled, except Gmail. 2FA is also disabled on this OU. Any new users I create in this OU. I email any new users with the steps needed to setup 2FA. In the email I explain they will not be able to access any Work files etc, until they have setup 2FA and emailed me to let me know. When I get the email, I check their account does actually have 2FA enabled, then I move them into an OU with all Workspace apps enabled. If needed, I can check the NewUser OU every once in a while to see who hasn't emailed me back.

Not really sure which forum to put this in, as it seems to be an issue for lots of servers and clients. MS released a security update in Jan that would fail due to the Windows recovery partition not being large enough for the update. I blocked the update until I could see if MS were going to fix the issue, but it now seems like MS are just going to deploy this update as part of the monthly CU updates in Feb. I have just done some testing and managed to resize the recovery partition on a test 2022 server, using cmd diskpart, but I don't really want to have do do that on production systems. Just wondering how many of you have, Already come across this issue and have you already increased the recovery partition size? or are you waiting to see what happens in Feb updates?

New Dell server - internal fans going crazy
TwistedHelixis replied to TwistedHelixis's topic in Hardware
I was just about to give up when I read that newer Dell servers don't turn down the fans while in the BIOS, idrac or lifecycle systems. They only use the temp settings while running an OS. Just installed Server OS and the fans have turned way down. -
I have just unpacked and turned on a new PowerEdge T560 server. The fans all sound like they are taking off and are not throttling down, like they do on my older server.I have installed all available firmware updates using the Lifecycle controller.I have opened idrac to check for any system issues. Initially it listed intruder sensor alert, but after clearing the log, that is no longer displayed.I can also see in idrac that all the fans are running at a constant 50% PWM. They are not going up or down from this. I have not tried to install the OS yet, as I want to get the issue fixed first. I have just sent Dell a message, but got a reply they are not available until Monday. Problem is, I was booked in to get this up and running with host and VMs OS's installed on Monday / Tuesday, as the school is not open for staff or students on those days next week :-( Anyone come across this issue before?

I am also just setting up a new Hyper-V host server like you, but just read the following in regards to the 'read ahead' policy and wondered what everyone thought? Hypervisors are sometimes referred to as "IO blenders". They make it very hard for any algorithm to predict what they'll do next because they don't let each VM have its own real SCSI disk. Because of this, you definitely don't want straight up read-ahead.

I had 4 schools using FMS before. 3 of the schools love it, the other is having minor issues, mainly around the difference in where items are located, the differences in naming, for example in FMS you had Suppliers but in Arbor Finance they are called something else. Also, she was having difficulties with the way funding is displayed. I don't actually use these systems, so I am wondering if that one school hasn't got it setup correctly, or she just doesn't cope well with change, especially as the other 3 schools don't seem to have any issues and the feedback has been very positive. When I am next with one of the bursars, I'll ask how they both compare.
