Action1 - pushing out 23H2 update

Think I have just found them. They are listed in the app deployment section, rather than the Windows update section. -
Action1 - pushing out 23H2 update
TwistedHelixis replied to TwistedHelixis's topic in Enterprise Software
Hi, That one is on 22H2, but just noticed some are on 21H1 :-( -
Just recently moved over to Action1 for client updates / patching. I was just on a client PC and noticed that on its updates page, it lists the 23H2 update as being available, with a click here to install. All other monthly updates are being download & installed on client machines. Just wondering why the 23H2 update doesn't seem to be installing itself?

That Pixel 7 deal is a great deal, if I had some spare cash I'd get that.

I have 3 kids and have no money for black Friday :-(

Its never going to be a proper test, as the MX record will still be pointing to 365. Suppose you could use the Google Workspace migration tool to migrate one or two users emails over to Gmail, just so they can see how it might work. LeMarchand idea is probably better and simpler, just forward some emails to their Gmail account. Although if you have used the same domain for both 365 and Google (like I have), this could be an issue.

Just noticed that a few devices around the school are still running Office 2013 pro. I wanted to individually target each device to uninstall Office using Action1, then install their new Office version. When I select a device, click to uninstall Office it doesn't actually uninstall it, so I wondered if anyone else had used Action1 to do this.

It does mention the following, For Chromebooks released before 2021 and already in use, users and IT admins will have the option to extend automatic updates to 10 years from the platform’s release

I read an article yesterday that Google are probably bringing out a different system to Flex, for extending the life of Chromebooks. It didn't say when it might come out.

Google admin asks 365 Admins a question....
TwistedHelixis replied to Jaan's topic in Cloud Services
I also have this happening. How are staff able to create accounts in our 365 domain? Surely it should only be an admin that can create accounts. -
On our old 2012r2 DC I could access all the Bitlocker recovery codes in AD > device > After moving to server 2019 there is no tab for this in AD. I found a forum that said I needed to install 'BitLocker Password Recovery Viewer feature', but cant seem to find this as an option anywhere. Any ideas?

So just keep it the way I have always been doing it. The reason I mentioned it, I seem to remember someone saying its best to separate out the partitions onto different arrays, but could be remembering that wrong. Thanks

I think the size of the drives will depend on which option in my original post (a or b) is best. Do any of you have your hyper-v OS drive setup in Raid 1, or raid 10?
-
Previously I have purchased 15k SAS drives, but thinking of getting SSD drives. Have not sat down and worked out space requirements yet, but guessing the Hyper-v C drive needs to be 100gb, and the D drive for both the VMs to live, needs to be around 500gb total. Plus any hot spare drives
-
Just thinking forward to when I need to replace our Hyper-V server. The VMs running on that server are DC vm and Data vm. The Data vm doesnt have a great deal installed as most of our data is in the cloud, including our MIS. In the past I have always assigned all the drives to a single raid 10 array, with a hot spare. I was thinking about separating out the OS © drives from the Data Drives (D). Is this a good thing for a Hyper-V server? I assume it is, but wanted to check. I was either thinking of: a)OS © on 2 drives in RAID1 + hot spare or b)OS © on 4 drives in Raid 10 + hot spare The Data (D) drive will be x amount of disks in Raid 10 + hot spare, for the VMs to run from Is there a preference for a or b setup?

Had a teacher start at one of my primary schools that had come from a private school, the first thing she asked for was a Chromebook as her previous school were 100% Chromebooks, even in the office. One of my other schools, all pupils in KS2 (200 pupils) have had their own Chromebooks for about 4 years now. They tested in year 6 and it just spread. The feedback I get is fantastic.

Student Appdata folder - redirect or not?
TwistedHelixis replied to mdrabble's topic in How do you do....it?
I stumbled onto a post on Spiceworks that said it was fixed, then stopped working then fixed, but stopped working after an update this summer. Think I might do some testing, but I'm a really busy ATM. -

Are you referring to the GPO method? -

This would be very helpful. I have found a few scripts online, but they are all different and I would prefer using a script that I know works. -
Hi, I have a teacher that cant use the Smart TV pens to draw or write on a Power Point, all other apps like Word or Smart Notebook are fine. We open the Power Point ink tab, but the pen tool is not selectable, the arrow icon is always the selected icon, which I believe means click n drag. Any ideas?

Yep, same issue :-( Starting happening over the last few weeks.

I was under the impression that this GPO no longer works properly, mainly due to Windows updates resetting the time on user.dat file and also some new security feature added recently to lock user profiles down more. Has this GPO been working OK for you all? -
Just wondering if I can use the idrac card from a Dell PowerEdge T420 in T430 server? Ar both cards identical? The reason is, I believe the T420 card has the full management licence and the one currently in the T430 has the basic licence. I assume the licence is stored on the card???

Have you tried any of the other MIS Demos? Out of the 4 separate primary schools I look after, 3 have moved to alternatives over the past year+ and the 4th is moving in a few months. This is after a few demos. I have been trying to get them to jump for a few years but obviously failed to explain how much better the alternatives could be. TBH I am surprised how fast they jumped once they had seen how an alternative MIS works.
