I've just faceplanted into this. Is the above still the way to go? -
Hi all Any recommendations for suppliers of brand new business laptops that do trade accounts? We have Ebuyer but looking for others.

I have something similar. We have Cambium wifi, so its all cloud hosted. Whenever someone logs into our staff wifi on mobile they get the unsecured non ssl login page, then they login and after a while they get timed out and have to login again. So would a new CA solve this?

How much are you paying for Impreo Classroom Pro?
ITGuyNW replied to Jaan's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Is anyone having any trouble signing up to Impero?? Wanted to renew an expired account 2 weeks ago and virtually radio silence once you're past the initial sales sign up. -
Inventry sign in system > door security, recommendations?
ITGuyNW replied to ITGuyNW's topic in Physical Security
Sounds promising. Do you use ID Cards too? -
Inventry sign in system > door security, recommendations?
ITGuyNW replied to ITGuyNW's topic in Physical Security
We already have some sort of card printing to go with the Inventry system but I don't know yet how that would change if we had door access. Chip? barcode? Not sure. -
Inventry sign in system > door security, recommendations?
ITGuyNW replied to ITGuyNW's topic in Physical Security
Yeah I've seen the Paxton integration. All I know so far is the business manager has arranged for Inventry to come in during half term to spec up door security etc using id cards. Lucky I caught wind of it.. -
Once an image installs via WDS/MDT, It then goes through a base PDQ package which does settings, activations, edge/chrome/adobe etc then after a reboot it'll split off to either a staff package or a student package and install software based on that criteria such as staff get Teams, students don't etc Generally, the amount of software I'm having to install is getting less and less as the years go by. It's mainly settings, activations and workarounds these days. I notice on there you install SIMS via PDQ. Does that talk back to SOLUS? When I've tried that in the past, its never really worked properly.

Hi all The school has Inventry as their sign in system in reception. The business manager is now looking into installing fob/card security access for all doors. Initially they are looking at the product offered by Inventry to tie it all together. Has anyone been in a similar position and can recommend the best cost effective way of adding a secure access system onto Inventry please? Is it worth looking at Paxton and the other competitors instead?

Anyone else going to the Play Expo Blackpool 2023?
ITGuyNW replied to Dos_Box's topic in General Chat
Yeah Sunday was good. There was some bloke kicking off at the start as he hadn't bought a presale ticket and didn't want to wait until 11am. Some people..... I made a grave error though, I waited until later on to get Johns book and he'd sold out!!! My son went up on stage a couple times, he seems to love doing that! Roll on next year.. -
We have 40 Yealink MP54s with Teams/Gamma. After a few months of updates, restarts, proxy configurations, fault finding, everything seems to have settled down now.

I've had a few issues with them.. a few reschedules, the bin they delivered had a massive split at the bottom so couldn't be used properly, then they thought they were picking stuff up when they were just dropping off and now just had another reschedule. Bit of a shame really considering..

This is probably the way I'm going to do it then. Not all our printers have papercut so I'll have to run the pc client at start up on every PC. Thanks! EDIT: Did you have to configure each staff member @Boredguy ? or can shared accounts be applied to a group?
-
Hi all I want to run monthly reports on staff usage in school so departments can see how much they're spending. However some staff mix departments. Papercut runs very simple reports and I can't see if it does what I want. Is there a way of tagging staff as different departments and/or set proportional cost? (say Teacher A splits costs 50/50 between 2 departments) or am I having to resort to excel-fudgery?

Anyone else going to the Play Expo Blackpool 2023?
ITGuyNW replied to Dos_Box's topic in General Chat
Yep, me and the eldest are going on the Sunday. It's always a nice day out, even if it is at the dreaded Norbreck! Hoping to get a signed copy of Johns book. I got a signed poster last year like you. He was a super chilled guy to talk with. -
So is the net2 system still the way to go then? I think they're looking to overhaul security here so they are looking at doors, signing in etc

I was thinking about going to BETT for the first time in January but with it being hours away, navigating London and remembering how pushy they were last year. Gonna give it a miss. Anyone ever been to the edtech show in Birmingham? Looks kinda similar but smaller.

Hi all I'm after a PSU for an Extreme switch. Does anyone know of any contacts/suppliers who are good at finding parts like these? It seems to be largely unavailable to buy online... for reference 10925 | Extreme Power Supply | Summit X670 Series – NetworkTigers

3 months before I took over as Network Manager, the school chose Teams and Gamma. £7.30 per user and £9.99 per SIP (if documents are correct) Already looking at moving to 3cx even though the school have just got 40 Yealink (utter crap!!) handsets

Hi all Is there a thing as special educational licencing for Veeam. I literally just want to use Veeam to regularly backup 5 or 6 Windows servers on site but the licencing is confusing me a little. Can anyone recommend me any resellers?
