My iPad is excellent for helping me run the network: Spiceworks app - gives me access to helpdesk and inventory Impero app - nice way to monitor what people are doing while I'm on the move. Have my diary, task list, email, etc. all in one place. RDP to every server. Pretty much everything I can do sat at my desk I can do on the move. I used to do it all from my iPhone but an iPad just makes it bigger. Certainly increased my productivity.

We have lots of destroyed ones but this is the only one I've found intact. It's like going on an archeological dig.

Just tried uninstalling and reinstalling but with no luck. Trying to understand the GSpot results.

Thanks for this. I've run the program and, from what I can see, the codecs are installed. GSpot tells me that a codec dll in our Serif program plays the file but in Media Player, it plays upside down. I'm now stuck as to how to get that in Windows Media Player. I'll keep playing.

Hi guys, This is now doing my nut in so this is the last resort Various movie file types (mainly VOB files) are playing upside down in any media player. I know it's a codec issue but I can't seem to find the right one to apply. Any pointers?

Interesting. I think I'm having the same issue. I've trawled the Serif Forums and posted something myself but nothing positive. Strangely, it's working on other machines. I've got a few error logs but nothing special.

I'm quite happy with iBooks on my iPad. I'm not a massive reader but the books I do have are great to read on the device. I don't read enough to buy a Kindle.

We have 5 servers running Hyper V on each along with a gateway server. This lot serves our Remote Access facility and our 10Zig thin clients. Quite a few teething troubles but all working well now.

I recently saw a demonstration of SIMS Emerge, an app available for iPad/iPhone (possibly Android). It's a paid extension to SIMS but looks useful to PE staff, staff on trips with pupils and, at next update, parents.

I really, really, really want to roll out an online helpdesk - Spiceworks, preferably, as it also has an iPhone/iPad app - but it's getting the staff to use it that's the problem. Last time I tried, my boss didn't give it a chance and forced me to go back to paper based rubbish.

We use a service called Teachers2Parents (Teachers 2 Parents). Can't give you any figures at the moment but parent response has been excellent. We have around 950 pupils.

Hi guys, This year we've introduced netbooks for teachers to use wirelessly throughout the school. Although not initially specified, they've asked if they can be connected to projectors. No problem at all. However, they use remote desktop to connect to the servers and, by default, this is full screen. When the netbook is connected to the projector, the remote desktop reduces to a window. After some research, I found I could make it full screen again by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Break/Pause which works. However, the session has scrollbars. When the VGA cable is removed, the remote desktop screen goes back to normal and everything is fine. Is there anything I can do to remove the scrollbars from the remote desktop screen when a netbook is connected to a projector? Cheers.

Hi guys, Firstly, I'm disgraced at how long it's been since I've been on Edugeek! No excuse. It's appalling. So, for that, I apologise. Secondly, I seem to have made a slight booboo when it comes to adding our new Year 7 pupils this year. The first class logged on and had no permission to create or modify folders in their user area. After a little investigation, I've found the security for that folder was set to allow full control to "server/username" instead of "domain/username". My fault entirely. Now I have to change all 184 folders to have the right security permissions. Is there anything out there that will allow me to do this is bulk easily rather than going through all 184 folders individually? Cheers (and sorry again for neglecting Edugeek for so long!)

Evening guys, Recently found a couple of "splodges" on the right hand side of my HP Pavilion dv7 screen. It looks like maybe some liquid has seeped in but I don't know. If it is, would it be easy to sort myself or is it best to take it somewhere? I wouldn't mind taking it apart and doing it if it was easier. Cheers!

Sidestepping away from the seriousness slightly, I'd love my racks and patch panels to be this tidy (and empty) and, with that few cables, do you need that amount of concentration?

See, that was going to be my last resort but I was thinking it may have been something else. It was working fine first thing this morning. It's been working for months. Also, it's printed to a printer of the same make and model on the network. If I don't get anywhere, I'll resort to replacing drivers, etc.
