I think it might just be normal flu. Everyone just got into a panic when someone came back from their Mexican holiday and said, "Yeah, it was great but I've a swine of a flu". Everything just got blown out of proportion since then. Like a Chinese Whispers thing. :D

I've just been approached with another bizarre idea so I thought I'd throw it open to you lot to see what you think. Every department now and again has some surplus equipment which could be useful to other departments. Instead of throwing it away, they would like to make it available to others if they want it. Someone has suggested maybe an online system where an offer of some equipment could be make and other departments could either bid or offer something in return. Kind of an internet eBay/Freecycle/Swap Shop thing. Any idea how I could do this???

Just received the result of my Stage 1 review for my job evaluation and to say I'm livid is an understatement. To cut a long story short, they think that a reasonable salary for a "Systems Manager", as they call me, is just over £19K. This drops me down about £5K from what I'm currently on. It appears that they've completely ignored everything I highlighted on my appeal. They've told me that it's a valid point but not enough to alter what they originally proposed. Just downloaded the Stage 2 review form and I'll be filling it out... using my 2 A4 pages to the max. I can't work today. I'm just so fuming. :censored::mad:

Just come to install something on our web server which requires PHP 5+. Our website runs with PHP and I've only just noticed that it's down to PHP 4. Obviously, I want to upgrade to 5 but don't want to mess up our website so I'm a little wary. Can anyone give me a few pointers to maybe convince myself that it's ok? LOL

I now have LogMeIn Ignition for my iPhone 3G. It works like a dream over a 3G network! Response time is brilliant, easy to use. Everything seems to be just like using LogMeIn from a PC. Good times

With regard to our current VLE solution provided by RM and the LA, what I would like from it is for it to WORK! It's constantly slow, constantly being updated and constantly not working. I'm not sure how they expect it to be a main teaching tool when it's off.

Our school don't support Comic Relief. Something I completely disagree with but what can you do?

Good news... I've managed to get around the fact that Twitter is blocked. I can now tweet to my hearts content.

I found this guy after reading about him in Metro last weekend. He aims to travel around the world as far as possible only by means offered to him by people who follow him on Twitter. Travel, accommodation, anything. All has to be from his Twitter followers. We're almost clean. Just a few more to do on Monday. Also showed me just how much staff DON'T listen to us.

We got pounded by this this today. Spent all day with eveything off cleaning everything. Continuing tomorrow and banning the use of USB pen drives unless they're scanned by us first.

Just contacted the LA to try and get Twitter unblocked. I claimed that it was a good point of contact for other "geeks" around the country. Unfortunately, it "contravenes our filtering policy (RM filtering policy) and therefore remains filtered". Rubbish. Still, I update via text so it's not too bad.

Need this to be a quick one because I need to try and sort it for tomorrow. Any way of slowing slide transitions any further? The "Slow" setting just doesn't seem slow enough. Thanks.

Has anyone had a look at this? My line manager just showed it to me because it was bundled with the latest Reader. It's looks pretty. It can play lots of types of media including flv files. I'm thinking of giving it a go.
