    Hi folks, I am having an issue with a 2012 VM whereby the Virtual Disk Service keeps stopping and failing to properly restart. It works again after a reboot but then after an indeterminate amount of time, the service stops and doesn't restart. When we launch disk management, we get the 'Unable to connect to Virtual Disk Service' message at the bottom of the window - no further pop-up dialogues to say there's a problem. When I go to Services, the Virtual Disk Service is stopped. When I start it, it shows as running. However, when I then re-launch disk management, I get the same message as above and once again, the service has stopped. I have thus far been unable to find a permanent fix to this problem. I have tried the hotfix detailed at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/virtual-disk-service-or-applications-that-use-the-virtual-disk-service-crash-or-freeze-in-windows-server-2012-53bfc3b4-011d-f64f-c927-b4222ab025a8 but this has not fixed the issue. Setting the service startup to both manual & automatic has not made any difference. Any further tips would be gratefully received.

    We moved away from the old Birmingham BGfL provision 3 years ago - saving an absolute ton of money in the process. The only issue we had at the time was access to CRISP - a tool used by SEND teams to access funding for students with EHCPs. That tool is now defunct so no longer an issue. We're with CoConnect now and have just renewed for 3 more years saving even more money and increasing our bandwidth at all sites at the same time. We're moving from 100mbps fibre leased lines at all sites to 200mbps for primaries and full 1gbps at the one secondary. They also supply our managed firewall and filtering - moving from Smoothwall to Fortigate and Netsweeper at renewal.     Afternoon folks, Apologies if this has been covered on this forum before. Has anyone found a reliable way of deploying printers that are managed by PaperCut via Intune? I am certainly struggling - it is the one thing stopping me pushing more devices onto Intune. I've registered one of of PaperCut printers - a virtual 'follow me' queue with Universal print and deployed the CSV file (packaged into the .intunewin package) and Universal Print Printer Provisioning apps. According to the device/user install status, it has had decidedly mixed results. The device I have been testing on gives me the pop-up to say it is downloading the packages but then ultimately fails to install. I've tried deploying the printer via PowerShell as per https://powers-hell.com/2020/04/25/installing-printers-with-intune-powershell/ but that has failed also. Mobility Print has also been unreliable as our staff normally operate by selecting a shared account from the papercut client popup.

    Good afternoon all, Been trying to deploy Sophos Central endpoint to 2 test machines on Intune. I followed the instructions at this link and it keeps failing. One laptop was a factory reset DfE laptop and the other was a freshly MDT'd with only built-in windows defender. I have the win32app deployed to 'All Devices' The Device install status page for the app in Endpoint Manager is giving me a status detail of 'Error downloading content. (0x87D30068)' Has anyone seen this error before either deploying sophos or other Win32 apps?

    We use CoConnect at all 7 schools in our MAC (6 primary and 1 secondary) all with 100mbps leased lines and hosted Smoothwall filtering. Give [email protected] a shout, he'll be happy to discuss any of your requirements.

    I'm getting this problem on 13 of these. Whilst it's obviously fine on HDMI to HDMI, it doesn't work when going through HDMI to VGA - which 80% of our projectors run on. Other suggestions I've seen from other posts suggest using powered VGA splitters - which is not really an option as I don't think we should need to spend more money to get the laptops to project.

    We use CoConnect across our MAC. All sites have 100mbps openreach leased lines (on gigabit bearers) along with Smoothwall web filtering. Shayne ([email protected]) will happily discuss options with you with a view to providing a quote.

    Give Shayne Grove @ CoConnect a shout ([email protected]). He'll talk you through all of your options and would be happy to give a good deal. We (our mac - 1 secondary and 6 primary schools) have an MPLS provided and managed by them with 100mbps leased lines at all sites.

    I can certainly vouch for CoConnect. We've been with them since April 2019 and the service has been excellent - pre/after sales, account management and technical support are all great. Shayne will very much look after you!

    I 2nd this! I also recommending checking out CoConnect as a provider to move to away from BCC/BGfL/Link2ICT. They provide great account management and technical support at a fraction of the costs Link2ICT will charge - e.g. Link2ICT want £14,400 for 1gb/1gb in a secondary school but CoConnect will provide the same at a much lower cost. They also include hosted Smoothwall filtering and for an extra cost, they can also provide cloud hosted VoIP! Drop Shayne an email at [email protected] and tell him Will O'Reilly recommended your services - FYI, we moved 1 secondary and 6 primaries over to them for the 19/20 year onwards!     We are trying to change the restriction status for all students in PaperCut (version 18.3.1 on Server 2016, synced with AD) and it is not applying. We go to bulk user actions, select the student group and tick the box to change restriction. When we click OK, we get a message that the group operation has started and to see the progress window. This is great, only nothing is happening and there is no window - even tried turning off pop-up blocker just in case. It allows me to change the user credit in bulk but not their restriction status. This issue has stumped out MPS provider and apparently even papercut themselves. Has anyone ever seen anything like this? EDIT: We are seeing a lot of the following in the server.log file: · Caused by: org.hibernate.exception.ConstraintViolationException: Could not execute JDBC batch update · Caused by: java.sql.BatchUpdateException: Column 'EXTERNAL_USER_NAME' cannot accept a NULL value. · Caused by: java.sql.SQLIntegrityConstraintViolationException: Column 'EXTERNAL_USER_NAME' cannot accept a NULL value. · Caused by: ERROR 23502: Column 'EXTERNAL_USER_NAME' cannot accept a NULL value. Java has been updated

    I have RSAT on ICT suite teacher machines with control delegated to student user OU for password reset for all staff.

    One of the requests from the resident teacher in the room is that students could still access work done on the macs on Windows machines (where software compatibility allows) so we're trying to avoid forcing them down the local home directory route. I currently have "Traverse folder / execute file" & "List folder / read data" for "This folder, subfolders & files" on the route of the curricdata share. There are then separate folders in there for each intake year. Each intake year's folder then has the home folders for each user in that year group. When checking one of those subsequent intake year folders, it looks like inheritance has been disabled so it is not getting the same Traverse & list permissions set at the level above. FYI - I inherited this setup 2 months ago when I started the position.

    Surely if the home folders map fine like they do on Windows machines, then it can't be a permissions issue? Unless Mac interprets NTFS permissions differently? (There are 2 shares - staffdata for staff home folders & curricdata for student home folders. Share permissions are identical).

    We have a bunch of 8-year-old macs running OSX 10.6.8 (they are being run until they die) which are bound to AD. When any staff member logs in, their AD home folder gets mapped fine, their desktop shows fine too. However, when a student logs in, it fails to map their home folder. Moaning about it having been removed or can't be found etc. When the user logs in to a Windows machine there are no issues whatsoever so to me it can not be a permissions issue. Can anyone nudge me in any form of direction as to how this can happen?

    Just wondering if anyone out there has managed to successfully deploy any managed app settings to iOS devices through the Meraki MDM? Specifically, I'm looking for automating the adding of a device to the Ricoh Smart Print&Scan app. Otherwise, any app you have managed to do this for will be a start. NB: I have left an enquiry on the Ricoh website. If they respond to me, I will leave it here for all to see.

    My Apologies. We run Hyper-V Generation 2 VMs. We had to disable secure boot in the VM settings. It is something to do with Digital Driver signing. https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/configurationmgr/2017/04/14/known-issue-with-the-windows-adk-for-windows-10-version-1703/ Although looking at this article, there seems to be a fix for that.

    We have found that with ADK 10 - 1703, you have to disable secure boot on your MDT/WDS server before you can update your deployment share and generate a boot image.

    Could you not have just changed the DHCP Lease to a reservation for your WSUS server?
