I have recently been made part of a team of 4 to research and develop the process by which we might implement Office 365 into a school. We are all novices and thus know little about it. Is there anyone out there with any tales to tell of their experience in getting an organisation started and how, if any, many problems they have encountered since it was put in? How long did the whole process take? Does anyone have any experience tying Office 365 in with EES Licensing? What feedback have your users given you? We have a school who are itching to be a guinea pig for our trial. However, we are unable to give them an accurate time frame on long it might take us to get them started due to our limited knowledge.

I do not have the option for that path...the only path for Adobe I am seeing is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\POLICIES\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\11.0 and then the option to set a value

I visit a school once a week to look after their IT needs and they are having issues with Adobe Reader prompting users to update. However, the system is currently setup to not give them the ability to update and therefore they requested for that to be suppressed. A colleague of mine added an ADM file to an All Users/All Computers GPO to stop these updates but users are still being prompted to update. Does anyone have any ideas as to what else I can do to sort this out? I am there this afternoon (16/01) and have a lot to get through so would like to be prepared as much as possible FYI, they are a Server 2008R2 with Windows 7 Pro x64 clients

it is only a middle school that covers the ages of 9 to 12 so the whole library only covers a small corner of the school and is ran by one lady who works part-time so there's no need for any terminals

I ended up installing the same version I was trying to deploy (11.8.800.94) and it all worked!!

I did both. In the end, the man from Softlink who ended up remoting in, quietly mentioned that Alice apparently does not work very well on Server 2012. He then proceeded to make the software run locally. This made sense as it is the only machine in the school that uses the software so didn't have any inherent need to be networked. The content still gets backed up to the server however!

Forgive any potential noobness with this query. I'm still in the learning phase of my job as an IT Technician. Anyway, I am configuring the backups for a school. They have 2 brand new QNAP TS-212 Devices and I am using Windows Server Backup to do the backing up. So far, I have setup a schedule and selected both devices as the destination disk(s). What I want to know is will it backup the same data to both devices or will it pick at random or pick only one device to do the backup? If the latter is the case, what would you suggest I do if I want to utilize both devices to their potential?

Firstly apologies if this is in the wrong feed. My Windows Server 2012 system uses Windows Server Backup along with a QNAP TS-412 device with 8TB of storage. For the last few weeks I have been having issues where the schedule "completes with warnings" where the warning is that the system state has not been backed up and the only error message I get is "Copy of the files failed. Detailed error: The specified path is invalid". My initial thought was that the QNAP was shutting itself down before the backup had time to finish (the previous Tech before me had set it up to power on half an hour before the scheduled start time - 6.30pm for a 7pm start - and then shutdown at 7am). I tried extending that time to 9am but I was still met with these warnings. Upon further exploration, WSB (Windows Server Backup) tells me I am only using 1.8TB of space but if I look on the web console for the QNAP, it tells me I only have 17GB of space remaining. Any thoughts as to what I can do to rectify these errors? If there is anymore information needed then just ask

I am trying to update the Plugins, namely Flash, being deployed in my school (I only recently took control of it IT system) through Group Policy but I'm getting the following error: "Add operation failed. Unable to extract deployment information from the package. Run validation on the package to ensure that the package is correct" The server is 2003 R2 with SP2 with mainly XP clients. I have read through Googling it could be something to do with the version of the plugin that is installed on the server itself. However, according to Adobe website, my server is rocking 11.5.502.110 but the version I am trying to deploy is 11.8.800.94. Also, to prevent Flash from uninstalling from clients because I removed the old package, I tried putting it back on and was met with the same error so I feel a bit stuck!

I visit a middle school once a week to look after and sort out their IT problems and one such problem that was reported to me this week was that Google Chrome will not load their school website, yet IE will load it perfectly fine. The school were insistent that they be able to use Chrome for their website due to various extensions and auto-updating capabilities. In my 'googling' to find the cause of this error, I came across an extension which emulates Internet Explorer. What I want to know is, is it possible to package/include extensions within a .MSI installer so that I could roll it out to the whole school rather than have to install it individually on every computer? If so, any tips? I know you can obtain basic Chrome MSIs. p.s. apologies if I have got this in the wrong section! Feel free to move it to a more relevant place, if there is one!

My school's library is using the Alice library system and in the last week, they have incurred an error when logging on to the software. When typing in their credentials and logging in they are met with the error message: File Error A required file was not able to be opened The details of the file are as follows: Name: ALOCK.D Path: P:\OASIS\.\OASIS Indicies: 0 Mode: Read Write ***"P:\" is a mapped drive to a shared area for apps/programs/software on the server*** The school has been on the phone with SoftLink who have suggested various fixes such as: replacing alock.d with alock.mas Downloading a new version of alock.d and replacing the old with the new Restart computer and/or server (which is MS Server 2012 FYI) Make sure the person logging into Alice has full access to the OASIS folder and all its subfolders. None of these fixes have worked. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could try next?
