  1. I have what i feel is a silly question about Python and looking for advice from those that do use it, as i feel the disagreement with my colleague who teaches CS will be fun. Our disagreement comes from what should be used to access IDLE, i am told that when Python is launched it shouldn't open Python's black command line window, that it should automatically open IDLE. I, on the other hand have said, launch IDLE and you have access to IDLE. So help me Obi-Wan's and what are your thoughts? Thanks Mark
  2. I can log into 365 as the user account and send mail directly. Checked using Powershell and the flag is showing False, so it should be enabled correct?
  3. Hi All, I know i am missing something within Office 365 and authentication to FMS and our printers scan to email. With the depreciation of one of the Office 365 basic authentication. I have on the user account Authenticated SMTP ticked and the account itself works when you login and send mail but not via our printers scan to email function nor FMS and it automatically sending the messages. My brain keeps leading me in circles so any advice would be great. Thanks mark
  4. We migrated to Vericool the other year, our catering manager was pleased with the experience.
  5. I found when i was setting up some new machines i had something similar, i followed this https://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/116689-install-sims-solus-3-agent-manually and then found after 20 minutes or so it had re-communicated back with the SOLUS tool and then pushed out the latest SOLUS agent and then the client to the machine.
  6. This was the SOLUS client on the server trying to do the upgrade to the Spring 2021 release for the main databases. I did find that article when i was doing a general search. I did find in testing on a non live backup VM that i could do the dbupgrade manually without errors, so i have at least narrowed it down to it being SOLUS being a picky bugger. This is weekend work to get it upgraded.
  7. Plenty of drive space, but good shout.
  8. Hi All, After some of you lovely people to sanity check this process out for me. As the title mentions my SIMS Spring 2021 failed doing the update via SOLUS. The message i received was Tolerance not met for Target Database. This was the same for both FMS and SIMS. Would i be right in thinking that i can extract the updates from each deployment task. So FMS Database only and FMS Client, and then the same for SIMS. The do DBUpgrade, point to the extracted folder pop in all the details and apply the patch manually then update on the client, do that once for FMS and then for SIMS. Then verify that you can log in and job done? PS - I have run through this process in a non networked backup VM and it works as i expected and has completed the upgrade, with no errors in either upgrade. Is my logic sound? Thanks Mark
  9. Thanks for the replies, i emailed my reseller who has passed it back to Jamf support. What i have discovered is that when then device does go home, it wants you to manually refresh the device and then it will update its location and unhide/hide depending on where they are. I have three year groups enrolled which amount to around 500 devices, and i am not clicking on that many devices manually. I had tried the time restrictions in the past but with some students having to self isolate, for me the best solution is based on our fixed external IP, and then another device group that did the opposite of the on-premise device group. For ASM, logged into it most days so everything is up to day for any EULA. That adds to my other annoyance that i can no longer use the old store which has a slightly different domain address but is linked to ASM to purchase apps, i can no longer even get past resetting the phone number as it rejects all the codes that are sent to my phone, but then the number is linked to another account. I think it is going to make me create a new purchasing account which will be a pain to do.
  10. We use both of these MDM's to manage our iPads which are 1-1 in school. Both of the them since i think Summer have stopped processing the Off-Premise policies, so where we hide non essential apps in school they should get them back while at home. This is for students as nothing is applied for staff. For those that do something similar where the devices are coming in and out of school, are you having the same thing? I have logged the issues with both support teams, and as always with Lightspeed, it has been passed to their Dev team with no indication of when there will ever be an update from them. I dont know if Apple have change something in the background infrastructure, but the fact i have similar issue on two management platform and both a behaving in a similar manner feels like there is something relates them both. Hopefully i posted this in the right place. Anyone have any ideas?
  11. Ill give that a look. Cheers
  12. As far as i am aware it was done by sharing to one specific person. Ive not seen any other place to see this document outside of using the iOS Outlook app. The landing page for Office that shows you recently opened documents doesn't show it.
  13. Just been shown some peculiar behaviour with file sharing and was wondering if anyone else has seen this because of using OneDrive etc. A member of staff sharing a document with a colleague so only those two people having access permissions wise as the file is located in OneDrive. Its an older file that contains some mock results and is referred to when the second person who had access to the file is asked a question by a student. Student is using the Outlook App downloaded from the App Store, not one of our managed MDM apps, as students are normally advised to use the browser to access email. Now the Outlook app has the search function and on that page the document that is shared between the two staff members is available as a trending document that the student can open. Now i get that this is sort of expected behavior due to 365 collaborative nature, but how can this be turned off? I have found these https://onedrive.uservoice.com/forums/913528-onedrive-on-the-web/suggestions/38379085-turn-off-popular-around-me https://office365.uservoice.com/forums/273493-office-365-admin/suggestions/38724409-option-to-disable-popular-around-me-in-onedrive and the current outlook is not good that it can be disabled at any level. Have any of you come across this before within your settings?
  14. Yeah, more monitoring. With Online Safety being a huge thing, and some of the promises that this software can do this or that. Its the odd thing of trying to be proactive which i don't think can be done with relation to students searching the internet while in school. In my mind as long as the filtering is blocking all the sites that it can from a global classification list, it would be after the event reports being generated that would be emailed to certain staff to follow up. We trialed Fastvue with our current UTM and i did like what it could to supplement the reporting direct from the UTM. Its like the blocking of VPN's/hotspotting to bypass rules, the students have far more time than we do to look at circumventing things. There are times where technology cannot fix a person issue if there a looking to bypass rules that they should be following. For those that do currently have XG can you show some images of the reports?
  15. Can you elaborate any more on not liking Netsweeper? I am trying to wrap my head how to have a proactive approach to internet safeguarding. Our current filter blocks a lot of things, but the reporting on the UTM is quite poor.
