[sims] Solus3 Summer Release - Agents not updating if offline
Cache replied to Wayne_K's topic in MIS Systems
And isn't it typical, went to work on a computer today that hadn't updated - switched it on, logged on, sat talking to a member of staff about something else, low and behold, it starts updating! -
[sims] Solus3 Summer Release - Agents not updating if offline
Cache replied to Wayne_K's topic in MIS Systems
Yeah they were all on .118, reported as Offline and appear as Offline in the Agent Status box. Definitely worked fine last time.... Will have to have a bit more of a play, still got the discover update to try with. -
Prevent UAC popping up on our new PS Financial Portal

Could try this thread: SSRS 2008 R2 client print control prompt to downloads every time I click on print button in report viewer which links off to here: Administering the ActiveX Installer Service in Windows 7 Seems like a lot of faff though.... :/ -
[sims] Solus3 Summer Release - Agents not updating if offline
Cache replied to Wayne_K's topic in MIS Systems
I know our offline agents aren't automatically updating after doing the update - previously they did do. The science labs are typically an area where power is normally off so don't get updated and that was the case this morning - had to setup a redeployment for them to be able to get the update. -
Yep, all 3 are configured in Solus and I even deployed a new machine before hand and it pulled all the correct ini files before the upgrade so don't know what was up, tried altering the times and didn't seem to make any difference. Eventually got it pushed arround everywhere apart from a few offline machines I can't get access to to switch on and start a redeploy (since it's not doing them automatically when they come online)... Edit: Just checked something now, and after deploying the update, it's gone and pushed some other packages out to clients, whatever they are I don't know since we've done the AMPARK update but the auto-download seems to have started again....

We're planing to do our SIMS upgrade tomorrow and reading this, I've just spotted our clients haven't downloaded the update files in advance either - but they always did in the past! Think tomorrow might be a long day....

Anyone deployed Sibelius 7.1 over a network?
Cache replied to Sheridan's topic in Educational Software
Not done it, but linked from that article @K.C.Leblanc linked to is this: Installing and using Sibelius Sounds across a network The regkey itself could then be easily installed manually, GPP or script deployed. Edit: neve mind, read you already did this. It does say within that document that it will only pull the sounds needed within the score though? -
Brill! Thanks

Looks good, although could I request the return of a style without the tabs (I personally really don't like them, just makes quickly browsing the forum harder to me)
-
Thanks for the offer @mats - might be in touch.

Just one to watch - after configuring Discover to update through Solus 3 arround the same time the scheduled tasks vanished from the machine so the automated transfer wasn't happening. Might just have been coincidence but I didn't realise for a little while...

Sainsbury's were selling £180 for the 160GB at the weekend when I popped in, so looks like most of the offers have finished. It's already been repaired once so as much as I like having my original console, I'm starting to face the fact it's going to need replacing at some point soon but will take another stab at repairing it. Otherwise I guess it's back to watching the shops. Thanks all.

My PS3 up and died on me on Friday night, so I'm out looking for a new one. There seems to be a distinct lack of stock in shops at the moment and online for a 320GB one, prices seem stuck about the £240 mark. (have seen one slightly cheaper at shopto.net but they are on backorder atm) Anyone seen any decent offers on anywhere recently? Lack of stock starts to hint that either there's a shortage or a new model on the way, but having just got a load of blu-rays ordered and a couple of game sjust arrived, kinda screws things up in a way...

You can still select a closed session in the Generate Student Profiles screen by changing the drop down - now whether that allows you to regenerate and edit profiles for a closed session or not I don't know (haven't got my test system upto date so can't play with it), I've a feeling possibley not which is why we tend to keep all our profiles sessions open but locked until the 1st half term of the following academic year. :/

ProCurve 2910al vs 5406zl for InterVLAN/IP Routing
Cache replied to Davit2005's topic in Wired Networks
I bought a 2910al about a year ago and asked my supplier when I bought it specifically for one which could do inter-vlan routing and that was what I got. I have to be honest and say I haven't ventured very far in the actual setup of it, currently I only have the default vlan and one extra vlan which is used for our guest wifi (which plugs into one port then out into another to act as a mini firewall/proxy). -
I think this is it. Follow the settings in this blog post Pass-through Authentication (SSO) for RemoteApps « Angela Creason's Blog and then you'll need to have a CA which can sign your RemoteApp files which should remove any and all warning messages as indicated at the bottom of the post.
-
I looked into it but don't think I implemented other then on a test machine I later wiped. I think a big part of it was all the remoteapp files needed to be signed by a certificate authority and then there was a group policy you could apply which then allowed you to tell the machine to ignore any prompts for details. That or I'm getting mixed up wth another rdp project I was tying out - I'll see if I kept my notes together when I get in tomorrow.

Or why not a couple of HP Microsevers, so you've got a little bit of redundancy built in? Couple of HDD in each one, sync files between each so if one dies it all keeps running? I'd have thought it should be ok with such a small load.... £110 cashback until the end of June. (The one @SpuffMonkey posted might be a better option though)

Morning All I'm busy looking for a half decent A4 Colour Laser PSC for our sports partnership as we don't have any colour photocopiers. It shouldn't be doing a huge ammount of colour photocopies, but for example last month the printer did about 800 pages in total (partly due to a newsletter going out). Currently it's a HP Colour Laserjet 2600 which is almost at the end of it's life. So, does anyone have any recommendations (other then a colour photocopier which no one is willing to stump up for) as to a decent PSC? I have been looking at the Oki MC361dn because it uses the same toners as another printer we have in school, but wondering if anyone else has any decent recommendations for one? Budget ideally under £500, but could stretch a little bit further if need be. Cheers

I just tend to buy mine from CPC when ever I'm doing an order to them and running low.

Link for more details in the flyer I was sent: Oracle and Virtualization | Oracle Virtualization The vdi they offer is virtualbox based.
-
I'm wondering if anyone else has heard of or uses Oracle VM? As we're looking into Virtualising our servers, we've looked at Citrix and looked at VMWare and then another company is currently coming up with a solution using Oracle VM as the hypervisor and management. It's not one I remember seeing discussed on here before so just thought I'd post it out for info. Thanks

Yup, I've got one. PM me your address and I'll get it stuck in the post for you.
