I think, although it's been a couple of years since I've looked at Outlook/Exchange and not in a hosted solution, you need to go along the lines of an Outlook Preference file - a quick guide here, although I've never had to set one up myself it was already there when I started. Create an Outlook Profile File (*.PRF) | Outlook Daily Tips Once you have your preference, if you have the Outlook adm/admx gpo imported you should be able to specify the preference file location to automatically configure the user's Outlook system.

I've just spoken to the helpdesk about this (didn't get chance on Friday) and was told that 3.4.64 was the latest version available and that the Solus 3 update was withdrawn also.

I know it doesn't point to the cause of the issue but I had one machine that did this. I modified the local GPO to Enable the "Allow system to be shut down without having to log on." policy under Security Options.

I know you've got this sorted, but just in case anybody manages to achieve the same spectacular thing I did, if you have WDS automatically create a name and it is longer then 15 characters (netbios limit) it will still create a computer account for you in AD but will always fail on the specialize pass because it can't apply the name to the computer.

Out of interest, would you say these describe your issues to an extent @robknowles? Remote desktop sessions do not completely exit, and you cannot establish new remote desktop sessions to a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 The Group Policy preference settings for the "Terminal Session" item-level targeting item are not applied in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2 The First did for what happend yesterday, but the hotfix doesn't apply to SP1 apparently. I think I'm going to have to bring forward my complete GPO rewrite from the summer :/

Well it has happend again just now, using the 2nd card in the server, different port on the switch. I've had the issue with Internet Explorer and it's always been the proxy policy not applying and logging off and logging on again normally sorts that. I'm the Remote Desktop Host Manager I'm seeing a lot of disconnected seesions build up with no usernames there so something is going on somewhere. Our server is a Dell T410 and has Broadcom Nic's in it and not Intel. Core switch is a 2910al-48g.

My Autumn Upgrade still shows as Withdrawn in Solus3, does anyone else's or just me? Just wondering if I need to go and knock on Support's door....

I was having such a good day today until 3.15 when someone came and said they couldn't log on to the server - strangely everything worked fine when I logged on. The message the student got was along the lines The RDS service is currently busy. Please try again later, other users should be unaffected by this. This was true because I could log on, so I thought I know I'll restart the server. Cue the same problem as last time. I've managed to salavge it currently though, Removed Sophos, disbanded the team and removed the network adapters from Device manager, scanned new hardware, connected one network adapter up not in a team and reinstalled Sophos and touch wood it's working normally. Now nothing has changed, everything has been ticking over nicely for almost a month but yet it suddenly and inexplicably occured once again. I'm just concerned it's going to happen again, obviously it's down to either Sophos or the Network Card but guess I'll have to wait and see what happens.... :/

I'm going to ask probably what is a really stupid question, but I'm trying to improve our setup again (after several modifictions of other bit's you've posted). I notice in the Top Screenshot you have 3 User Policy Settings, management, staff and Students. What is the security filtering on the policies to make the changes to the different user groups? Does just removing all users and adding the Server and the relevent user group do that filtering? (and not really relevent to this but might as well ask here - what difference does having the Run is User's secuirty context have? I've never ticked that on any of my printer deployments yet....)

If it couldn't activate against the KMS after 6 months it would cease working until they brought it back in to activate it. Or are you wondering more about the Home Use Program (staff purchasing use on their own computers)?

Our Solus3 worked quite well during the summer upgrade apart from two silly users who left SIMS open which caused Solus to mark the update as complete when it should have failed, but the last Solus update of being able to redeploy an update should sort that if it happens again hopefully. My only real criticism of it is the fct it seems to take an age to deploy updates now and move onto the next stage, but can set it off and leave it going. The only other problem, which I haven't had chance to track down yet is Capita keep claiming we haven't done the summer upgrade, which we have so something musn't be reporting back properly. Will see what happens after the Autumn upgrade comes through properly...

Have you created a .htpasswd file? Authentication, Authorization and Access Control - Apache HTTP Server

Does it do the same if you autologin onto the pc with an account using a password? If it does, doesn't explain why it does it, but might be a way forward?

What about one of the Kodak ones? I've set a couple up recently for people and they seem ok (couldn't tell you the model though). Only downside is the tricolour ink cartridge instead of seperate cartridges, but £25 for a black and tri colour doesn't seem too bad....

Well today I've formatted and reinstalled the server and touch wood, everything seems to be working perfectly once again so really not sure what's gone on. For info, the server was ready to logon after the group policy client took 1 hour to be ready according to the event log when I looked before demolishing it this morning. Thanks for the help/advice all.

Haven't tried deleting the team, internet access worked fine on it, could ping it, could ping out, could access resources on it (c$ ect) but couldn't log on to it at all (it's always the Group Policy Client it says it's waiting for). Antivirus is Sophos and there's no other monitoring software installed on the machine. :/ Cheers
