Not going to complain about that to be honest - drive-by scanning means that I keep mine in my pocket anyway! Happy to give my email to anyone I'm interested in talking to!

This. Run any plans past the Bursar/Facilities Manager first!

I'll be there tomorrow & Friday!

On the ICT-Direct stand I think you can pick up a squishy worm - not sure whether you need to beat @ICTDirect_Dave at Worms to get one or not! Will find out tomorrow I suppose!

But we have to have the innovative blue-sky joined-up solutions so that we can action the deliverables!

We block domains at the request of the head/her PA/the office staff if they spam any of our mailboxes. My anti-phishing quarantine rules have a nice side effect of catching a fair bit of marketing crap as well (the ones that block the "display message" nonsense - check the Phishing Emails thread for a regex).

There is absolutely no reason for non-commercial entities to be reviewable at all on things like Google Maps. Things like schools, hospitals, government entities, etc. There are appropriate places to 'review' such places, and a directory isn't one of them!

That way they can have a home folder if they need it, but no access elsewhere.

Create a network user without share access? That's what we do for external presenters here.

Dumb question, but have you tried different pens on the board? Could it be a bad pen?

Storage for large files created by art students
FishCustard replied to Millsy79's topic in How do you do....it?
Is there real pressure on storage on your servers? Could you increase the quota for those certain students to say, 15 GB? They have a genuine need for the space - obviously if you can compress files or teach them how to make them smaller, that's good, but 2 GB seems rather low for creative course students.- 7 replies

NEC M230X stuck in Standby/Powersaving mode
FishCustard replied to Ripleys's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Can you just pull the power cable out to reboot? -
I'll be there Thursday and (probably) Friday. I've booked both days off - if I see everything I want on Thurs (very unlikely) then I'll stay at home and do nothing* on Friday. * - by "do nothing" I mean "start to sort out the immense amount of crap in the house ready for moving later in the year"

Possible to disable 'Like' feature on Office 365 emails?
FishCustard replied to themightymrp's topic in Cloud Services
I can't see any 'like' buttons in our 365 web mail - can you grab a screenshot? -
Who will be giving Microsoft a loathsome scolding at Bett this year?
FishCustard replied to mikkydoos's topic in BETT 2026
What problems do you have with roaming profiles - we use them here and don't really have any issues that we didn't have on 7. -

Am I the only person who actually quite likes Windows 10, and wouldn't go back to 7 if you paid me? Don't get me wrong, there are many things that aren't great, but there are workarounds for these. I guess every environment is different. -
I tend to just read EduGeek - can't stand Twitter, but I can find most news here. I miss subscribing to computer magazines though to be honest - I remember when I was young reading things like PC Pro and Custom PC and being amazed at how fast things moved. I think I still have their Windows XP release special edition somewhere!

It's Luther, of course it's NSFW Of course, that's assuming you know who he is.

How to completely remove all Outlook profiles?
FishCustard replied to abillybob's topic in Cloud Services
Yeah, I'd probably just blow away the profile (on local PC and server) - delprof2 is great for this. Take a backup first in case there's anything there that can't be easily recreated, but I've never actually had a user need anything from them! -
Comment comment comment. Do I get three entries?

We have the same issue here - seems that if it can't load Google Translate the whole page just stops loading. Whoever built that didn't do proper testing!
-
That would be brilliant, wouldn't it? We offer IT INSETs and other training, and I'm totally open to teaching people new skills, but it seems many don't want to know!

We use a Fire TV - works brilliantly and is only ~£30.

Bleh. And yeah, I've tried with and without live cable. Will try restoring the BIOS today, otherwise it's going back as "DOA"....
