We're looking to standardise our printers and thus save money and hassle with toner. I've had many recommendations for mono printers, and that side of things is getting sorted nicely (HP 1022s and 4250/4350s), however I can't seem to find a decent medium-use colour laser that people generally like. I did think of using Hp cLJ 2600s seeing as we've already got 3, but after realising they were host-based printers and cause all sorts of hell when shared from a server, decided to reconsider. So, fellow geeks, what colour laser printer would you buy, given that they'll be used in ICT suites and Art, and will therefore need to be reasonably resilient (speed less of an issue, as colour printing by students is kept to a minimum). Low TCO is also obviously important. Thanks!

I'd recommend lowering the frequency of the autosave, as it seems to lock things up for a few seconds, and having that happen every minute or so gets a little irritating.

Hi guys, I'm Richard, and I've recently taken on a NM post at a London school. Nothing like a call on the Friday before you're due to start saying 'the network's down, help!' to get you flying out of the starting blocks! I think I learned more about the network in 9 or so hours yesterday than I would in a week normally! Anyway, I've been a lurker here for a while, so nice to finally say 'hi!'.

What program are they using, and what's the exact error text?

Absolutely. Some bits of IT are a bit like flying an airliner. When everything is going fine, very little needs to be done beyond keeping an eye on various metrics and pointing things in the right direction (i.e. autopilot does 99% of the work). However, when the excrement hits the AC unit, that's where specialist knowledge and experience is really necessary. When 3 of 4 engines are on fire, you want an experienced pilot at the helm. When your PDC explodes, you want an experienced IT techie putting things back together.

Does it give an error message beyond 'DB non-existent'? How is the database stored, can you check that the files can still be read?
