Which you can solve using FSRM - use an Audit policy to deny Administrators read access to the desktop.ini files and the folders will have the right names. Or, redirect to \\server\share\%username%\Documents. That way the %username% folder won't be affected.

Out of curiosity, is that a technical thing (i.e. ESXi exposes some part of the host computer to the VM which says 'I'm a real Mac'), or just a licensing/EULA issue?

How exactly is this better? If they're talking about fructose vs sucrose, doesn't the former have more of a negative health impact?

Further update: Replacing the copy of jQuery in the ~\Scripts folder with v1.8.3 downloaded from the official site fixed the 'unexpected end of data' messages. To anyone else who does this, I'd strongly recommend not using v1.9.x or greater, as they made some major changes which may well break HAP. v2.x.x is 'worse' in this regard, as it has simply no support for IE 6, 7 or 8.

I reinstalled HAP+ v9, but did not apply the v9.2 update, and things seem to be OK so far. To apply the 9.2 update the first time around, I just copied the 9.2 files into the HAP directory, overwriting what was there - is that the way to do it or am I being a twit? EDIT: Partial correction - the upload error appears to be resolved, but the folder creation error occurs exactly as before.

Use the 'Redirect to the user's home directory' option (assuming you're doing this via GPP - if not you can use the %homeshare% environment variable).

Been setting up HAP+ today, and encountered various AJAX glitches. Server runs WS 2012 with IIS 8, ASP.NET 4.5. File uploads I get a 'File exists' message when I try to upload any file - the message has two spaces where the filename should be, implying a blank/null filename. If I click 'OK', I then get: Upload of has Failed! Value cannot be null. Boot the machine with a Linux live CD, navigate to C:\windows\panther\unattend.xml and remove the IE10 bit from the [specialize] section. Failing that, nothing really wrong with redeploying the image to the machine, going through the OOBE process and then resysprepping.

Anything with a SOCRM-NNN machine name - these are the rubbish RM P4-era pieces of junk.

I've decided to just generate new passwords for everyone - exporting them is turning out to be far more hassle than it's worth.

Isn't that for prioritising certain types of traffic/packet sizes (e.g. VoIP traffic, which will be composed of smaller TCP packets), rather than limiting bandwidth? (honestly not sure!)

You are quite correct - it's best practice to have the edge links at least 1 'step' below the trunk links. That way, as you say, one person trying to save 30 GB of MP3s to their user area won't clog the link with 1 Gbps of traffic, the maximum they'd be able to hit is 100 Mbps, leaving plenty of bandwidth available for other users.

P2 - Mission statement This could just be my overactive pedantry gland, but the narrative mode doesn't seem to match up: "We aim to provide our customers (3rd person) with the best value and service you (2nd person) have ever experienced from any supplier". P3 - header quote The header quote "We want your experience..." is almost identical to the mission statement used on the previous page. Do they need to be so close together? I've seen ultra-short-throw units, but that one appears to be about 4" from the wall... is it going to work? (I could be talking rubbish and it'll work perfectly, in which case, I will whack myself with a cluebat). There are also various places where the line breaks don't appear to be necessary. As text doesn't seem to be justified as a rule you could push the word onto the next line and avoid the anno- ying line break. Hi guys, We're moving from a WS2003 domain to a WS2012 domain over the summer (brand new domain to avoid any glitched caused by the alternate path of removing CC3, then upgrading to 2012). Is there a way to migrate user accounts with passwords from 2003 to 2012? I've looked at ADMT 3.2, but that doesn't work on 2012, and the 'recommended solution' of spinning up a 2008 R2 DC, lowering the functional level and going from there is a bit convoluted, and I'd like to see if there are any other options available. I've also tried Sys-Manage Copyright2, but that just crashes every time I try to actually migrate anything! (A two-way trust exists between the two domains, and they can talk to each other fine)

Why should you have to convince the MSP to buy machines with SSDs? If you want them, and are paying for the MSP's services, they buy what you want within a certain budget surely? (assuming you pay £x per year and it includes a PC refresh every N years, that sort of thing) If it helps, we've had around 40 machines with SSDs running fine for about a year. Hardly long-life yet, but it's another data point for you I guess!
