  1. I want plastic chair, skids and no gas ram.. suggestions? No fabric, durr, no wheels, double durr and we used to have chairs that you had to spin to adjust height so pupils wouldn't play with the gas ram and wear it out in a year.
  2. Something most people can't grasp.. I need the pupil to make / run any code they want BUT not do anything that would not do anything malicious... This is just someone who isn't even trying to understand what they've asked. Some web sites let you make code and run it on them, so no local access at all, disable command prompt. not too worries about powershell, time wasting yes, escalation attack probably not. A real attack that I couldn't mitigate easily is the shift+reset.. as the pupil could get the PC to boot from usb, even though it is disabled in the BIOS.
  3. bought a cloud key 2+, will see how it goes. EDIT: I swear if they EOL this thing next week, eeeerrrrr.
  4. damn, I just am not familiar with linux.. Don't suppose they have a VM appliance, I've missed Cloud Key 2, is the easy option then, just use a backup of the current windows system on it
  5. A little mis-leading, but the Unifi as a windows service is no longer supported on Windows Server, only windows desktop 10/11... You can still run it in the foreground as an app.... So every reboot, you have to login, run the app and exit BUT not sign out.... This is why I didn't post this as an enterprise software issue.. Running the software from a user account profile is awful enough but as a foreground app.. FFS. https://help.ui.com/hc/en-us/articles/205144550-Self-Hosting-a-UniFi-Network-Server-as-a-Windows-Service-Advanced-
  6. looks like they're real busy
  7. Look at this bold faced lie! I've been looking at this for a few weeks and it's always been £38-£42 now it is reduced from £106.99! I was going to make a complaint to ASA but they want you to read a 17 page form before a submission. (basically made so no one bothers them)
  8. I'd like an SSD for my steamdeck. shorty 1 or 2TB
  9. You can get an alert system for my epson projectors, if they are on the lan they can wake up and display a message! Also the Unifi, cameras I have, do have an AI function to alert if it hears a fire alarm. (not tested though)
  10. I used compatibles, that were "altered" to work with my HP switches. Worked for 7 years no issues. (1/10th the cost)
  11. I bought rust, watching someone play on youtube, looked fun.. 200GB download.. so I've never player it
  12. Whilst your here Darren got some Windows 11 drivers for this thing!
  13. I think the file server resource manger can help with this.. you can create a file screen for the file type, this can make an event log, that can trigger a scheduled task. aaand as above.
  14. I'm trying to add a 2019 DC to my existing 2012r2 DCs, they've done the DRFS migration "eliminated" (and are all in the same state, dfs is happy with no errors) and now have sysvol_DRFS as the sysvol share on the 2012r2s When I go to add a new 2019 DC and promote it, it creates a sysvol NOT sysvol_DRFS and DFS will not sync correctly the new server. (dfs has a timeout error with new server, possible error) I've tried with a second (new) DC and I'm getting the same result... (it want to make a sysvol not sysvol_DRFS) what gives? The new server does create a sysvol folder with files in it, so it is syncing... so it is doing something. is sysvol_DRFS only for migrated servers? and it is the share name that is important not the location on a given server? Then why does dfs get upset?
  15. Something with Wonde integration then it wouldn't matter the MIS system.
  16. We are currently with Vericool Legacy offering.. They want over £18,000 for 5 years licence, support, hosting and 2 tills for the new cloud version. would include, £1k a year to run a single azure VM. The crazy greed of these companies. £18,000 to run 2 tills for 5 years.
  17. my goodness, thanks for the iphelpers idea. I don't know what they are but I do have DHCP Guard on the switches.... wellp it worked straight away. +1 apologies to M$ on that one.
  18. dunno what an ip help is. but I have a flat network, so maybe it does not matter?
  19. I'm not having luck with 2019... ok installing wds look JUST like the 2012 version... BUt critically does not do anything. Roles installed, checked the boxes added the boot and install images.. Server is running... clients couldn't give a fig. it is a pure WDS server not running anything else.. no DHCP options selected or authorised. (I copied settings from the old server before removing its role and membership) So how to troubleshoot.... clients won't PXE and server is totally happy. google fixes all seem to lean on the youre running dhcp on the same server! selecet option 60 or 67... I don't recall setting anything like this for the old server and can find no mention (the old server) of it in the dhcp server. how do I troubleshoot this thing!. ((part of me is thinking this is yet another server 2019 ooops broke it passive agressive setting from m$)
  20. phew.. all day fix. ADSI edit on the affected DC.. Your Domain CN=System CN=File Replication Service CN=Domain System Volume (SYSVOL share) ((Below your local server name)) Right click on CN=Domain System Volume (SYSVOL share) and go to the security tab, the everyone security group has a Deny checked.. uncheck and apply, (the everyone group will disappear) Wait for the DFSR service to twig the change, (few minutes) then check the status and it'll al be finished. This was all the way out of my comfort zone..
  21. I have my PDC stuck at eliminating, (doing a DFSRMig level 3) the other 2 DCs are fine. (its been 8 hours) The error on my PDC is "DFSR Migration was unable to delete the NTFRS local settings on Domain Controller" I think I need to edit a permission somewhere but I don't know ADSI edit, a little guidance?
  22. Thanks everyone, I got stopped by the new DC I was trying to add complaining about FRS being in use. doing a dfrs migration now! could have been messy if I tried an upgrade..
  23. I have server 2019 members just fine the domain controllers x3 are 2012r2 the forest and domain are functional 2008r2. I think I can just go for 2019 in place upgrade but people are mumbling about SMB1.0 needing to be enabled. Do I raise the functional level to 2012r2 (can i) just to tickle some memories for those who did this 5 years ago Once I get them to 2019 I can raise again to functional 2016? cheers
  24. To add a new 2019 server to the domain... I just couldn't find it.. We are not going to be friends. in 2012 you right click.... in 2019 you chuck guess words at it for a few minutes the google it, then stumble into the old control panel and find it looking the exact same it has been for over a decade but buried.....ffs
  25. thanks, I think I'll make a new wds server and bring across my images. probably the same effort at this point :0
