    This is a 12.5" dell 7290 a new panel is £70 and well that puts it beyond economical repair. The LCD panel that is in this picture however is a 13.3" panel from those broken DFE covid laptops (a dynabook) Were not quite there yet but thanks to the 30pin embedded display port we might get more choice in the future and save more devices from the bin.. if this was my personal laptop I'd double tape the screen on and use it

    The devices roaming aggressiveness is too mild! a work around could be to: set the network minimum data rate control in Unifi. The AP will boot the device if it cannot maintain a certain speed. This may force the device to reconnect.

    I got past a big hurdle, that is the constant need to update. I had to push the batch file in to the fusion location as their instructions, and deploy a scheduled task that can execute it. The hurdles for me were: allowing batch files to run and restrict where from, publishing a scheduled task that couldn't use the local admin creds or a domain admin creds, having the non-intercepting proxy allow exe's to a non-user & got lucky that the system account could run the batch file. the batch files content and location are as the autodesk lab install 2022 update. but the published scheduled task, I had to alter to use the nt system account as I'm not publishing a task with domain admin credentials or local admin. I've had 2 test machines update autodesk whilst not logged in, so I think the largest hurdle is done. I can use a simple script to deploy the admin install once and let it update.

    I don't want pupils turning on the mac wifi and hot spotting the mac. pupils are using a standard user, not admin.

    I've disputed an invoice they sent in October (for new Broadband), it took 32 days to get a reply, their billing team got hold of me last month wanting paying. it got escalated to another person... its been 2 weeks and no contact. The business is falling apart.

    you want my 101 Hero, the plastic fantastic delta printer! A truly terrible printer, I bought to torture myself with for only £25, too see how bad it was.. lol.. bad! (has a ramps1.4 board and 3 nema 17 motors, so not all bad.)

    We control our DNS (through RM.com) and we run a wix website, they've been complaining about DNS settings for a while I have a cname record that points to wix but they want an a record as well for ssl?! I'm not sure what is going on though as our website fails to load now with an unable to establish a secure connection. The cname record name =www and the value is www143.wixdns.net can anyone guess what the a record should be? any pointers? boom boom.

    The teachers were rating supermarket Yule logs, co-op is the best followed by Tesco and avoid the Sainsburys. There was a log from a company called "cook" it was an amazing 10 out of 5 Yule log (apparently) but was £18 so disqualified.

    I have around 4 V2's and a couple of 4k versions. They are the best at what they do. The headline feature is that they can run off any usb port as they have a very low power requirement. (unlike a firestick for example) I use them in rooms where a cable run would be massive, the bonus is that any laptop can connect without special hardware or software. (you can choose a background image and give them a name, they do nothing else, making them end user simple.) even if Microsoft ware not making them anymore I doubt that the functionality is going anywhere. EDIT: errr ok the price of these have gone wayyy up, I guess people like them. ebay someone has bid up an old v2 to £84! and going, people are asking £200 for the 4k.... I may have to zip tie these things!

    I started on my local PC, I have a local folder with no restore points in previous version. I manually created a system restore point, the local folder now has a previous version! All good?!! A few minutes later the previous versions is gone.. System restore is allocated 10% and the (c drive system) drive is half full of the 500gb. The manually created restore point is still available but previous versions for the local folder is gone. Any ideas why this is so? Also how would I get it to make a restore point daily? cheers!

    stick to a brand, Logitech or Microsoft. You'll find off brand keyboards (and mice) use cables that are too thin and poorly attached so pupils damage them really quickly. Pupils will get the cable stuck, pull on the keyboard and if they don't drop it (the keyboard) they pull harder until the cable is free. On a cheapo keyboard this'll rip the cable out of the keyboard and its gone!

    running a passive hub at the end of a long cable will probably always be an issue regardless. Some webcams like the logitech style need almost all the 500ma a single USB port usually provides. A powered hub would be the better solution. (or a monitor with an intergraded hub is my choice)

    I'm really just grumbling but in 2021 I bought 32 Acer NITRO XV2 monitors. In the last 2 months I've had (so 18 months old) 6 fail on me some are developing black lines others are outright loosing their picture and will not display. The return process is via a form on the Acer website is buggy and sometimes the turn around is 2 months to get a repair, now they claim they are out of warranty. Just annoyed at myself for not sticking to form and buying a business class monitor. btw stock for monitors and prices in 2021 were weird at the time and more basic VA or IPS monitors (with height adjust) were quite expensive. So the cost (£133 ea) and time availability of these justified the purchase.

    Does anyone know what dictates how or when the LOCAL version of previous versions is working. on a network version you enable shadow copies and a schedule. I don't see this option on say the C drive of a laptop where restore previous versions for folders is available but often empty. (yes yes I know its been available locally for a decade but I never needed it)

    Wonde are going to charge £360 a year for their service. They're going to send out invoices in the next 30 days.. BUT if you keep reading they offer now Wonde Basic.. which is free. https://www.wonde.com/wondeplatform/ (scroll down for the table) I think I only need the basic, so will not pay the surprise £360 invoice. My impression was that the platform providers were paying wonde (classcharts, TES, libresoft) ((via me paying them)) to use their platform. Now Wonde want to double dip.

    Usually get some laptop backpacks from Amazon. Anyone know of okish bags that hold up.
