UPGRADE Azure AD Connect before September 2022!
chazzy2501 replied to psydii's topic in Cloud Services
I found a 2012 server, had to do the 2016 route... well that took an age! got the credsccp error on RDP now... (on server 2016) -
it is still shrink wrapped, also behind is a BBC Micro game on 5/14 floppy called Exile. On a shelf below that are some Acorn tape games. Never know what you'll find at the back of an old cupboard! (I saved stuff back in 2005-6 that was being chucked), I had no room back then for 5 old laptops, that I still regret. (1980's/90 lugtops with full size mechanical keys)

Entra Cloud Sync or Entra Connect Sync... I just want the service to continue as it did before but it recommends I use Entra Cloud Sync (as I choose none of the options) but the Entra Connect Sync sounds more like the old AD Connect.. user and password sync from the local domain...

Just installed an 86" Benq in the Library... it states that it is a 400nit display but is just bright enough.. £2000 with self install (80Kg). Single USBC on the front that works ok for a laptop (4k, touch and charge) but the TV came with a rather short cable so I bought a 4m one. No integrated wi-fi same as the clever touch(es) I just bought, why are £3 wifi dongles not just integrated. The clever touch one is magnetic and can be removed easily by any passing pupil, I didn't get the Benq one, my newline has an ugly white usb dongle just begging to be yoinked. (wi-fi for wireless projection and updates) airplay, chromecast and miracast would be handy (in a meeting room) but with the clevertouch displays I could never get to work so I abandoned the idea. (brand new last month with updates.. just spins like a lemon when connecting, so I deemed it unreliable and now is now disabled) (clever touch beats the benq for options as you can lock settings and disable apps) Newline is cheap...that is all. Interactive projectors are going up in price and TVs are coming down. 86" is massive and 2k isn't far off the £1500 the projectors cost. The Benq came with a wall bracket already half installed and took 30 minutes to unbox and fit (amazing btw) EDIt: the Benq came with no installation instructions (for hanging onto wall) and we had 2 large screws left over, that we couldn't place but the site manager assured me that it was secure... EDIT2: the wall is thermalight so that's neat.

put back into old laptop, use external screen, make a backup, restore to new laptop.

Whilst I can't point to a certain static death either, I can say that things that did work, didn't after being handled or moved. I just sold a working GT1030 on ebay, put it in antistatic bag and when the buyer got it, it was dead... The PC he tested it in was on carpet... So I'm out postage and a £50 note..
-
Just a quick grumble at every 3rd seller on ebay... if you are smart enough to build and sell PCs parts, why... why, do you insist on putting the motherboard on the carpet! CARPET... The Electro Static Generating king! It'd be safer to take a picture on the lawn, the bath tub. omg, the other day I think I saw a 4090 on a rug...

Getting a 20 year old email from an EDB file
chazzy2501 replied to chazzy2501's topic in How do you do....it?
Dang, it took a while but after getting Veeam it has declared that the EDB is not a valid exchange database file... So that ends that. -
I'm testing some Windows 11 clients and with them Office 2021 LTSC, in this configuration I can't use Onenote for Windows (Formerly Onenote for Windows 10)... This is really rather bad as it is the only good way of managing class notebooks (copying large sections and wot not) I'm confused as Office 2019 works just fine with Onenote for Windows 10... if I ask Office 2021 LTSC to install Onenote I get the ancient Onenote for office that looks like its from 2013! if I try and install Onenote for Windows I get the error that I can't install it with Office 2021 LTSC installed. Help!

I have a need to access an email from eons ago. I know the staff member left before we migrated in 2017 to office365 (so was not migrated). I have the last backup of the exchange database from 2017 but it is just a large EDB file... How would I go about accessing, sorting searching this thing... 131GB of it.

what is the approx cost?

I updated one of my wireless networks in Unifi to enable all the modern features like PMF, fast roaming, proxy arp, bss transition and others. MOST laptops were fine but some became really poor and very unreliable... The oddity is that I buy my laptops 20 or 30 at a time and I couldn't pin it down to any particular driver or hardware device... My feeling is that there were a few marginal devices that pooed the bed when I enabled these options but were fine before. All the laptops were 10th gen intel

Hi, I want to setup mfa for only teachers and staff. I need the ability to set conditional mfa?? I guess I need a subscription, would this subscription be for just me (the admin to make the changes) or everyone affected by my changes? cheers

The RX5700 XT cn be had for £150 and is a power house without ray tracing. A cheap B450 AMD mobo and a Ryzen 5 3600 (6 core 12 thread) both for £150 and some fast ddr4 3200+ 16gb ram for £40 1tb crucial nvme on amazon for £38! Well under £500, I've just built this exact system. good luck

"evolve" "national college" and "wakelet" enterprise apps for office 365 ok, members of staff have access the above apps just fine, BUT every now and then it'll ask one of my staff to "request access". When they do it'll spam previous users with that consent request. I've never had a consent request but today I found a bunch in the "admin consent request" page in azure. Now none are in "my pending requests" but are in the "all (preview)" what is going on?

I actually use the wpad / DHCP method, the DNS method conflicted with Direct Access. it has been solid for years. (windows only)
