  1. Then id be looking through the SLA's and clawing back what you can and if its so often as to be a common thing getting out of that contract as they have failed to provide you with an uncontended service if other users can this easily impact you. oversold the service, underinvested the backend.
  2. if its a contended service then isnt that part of the risk for using cheaper services? its clearly going to be contended with their other users(schools) who will all be hammering it at the same time. if you dont like that then buy a leased line that is uncontended?
  3. i dont know if things have changed for you, but i called the guys i got our ees from and asked if i could activate my office 365 entitlement and they sent me umpteen hundred faculty/student licence key to activate on the o365 portal?
  4. it allows downloads of the desktop clients
  5. no, if the site has ssl turned on the only thing you can see as a mitm is once google decrypts it on their end they have the full request, and thats why decrypt/inspect is a must on google otherwise google image search becomes a safeguarding minefield
  6. IDNS are our main go to, Debra is our account manager and always bends over backwards to sort what we need. and will always give us the best quote first... i dont understand how people can even tolerate the likes of softcat, you mention a paperclip to them and they have 7 expert calls booked in and hastle you for months
  7. offline files are not allowed for our staff
  8. i used pdq deploy free edition, went out without issue here. could probably get creative with a startup script if thats more to your liking. it is a bit stupid that an msi hasnt been provided though
  9. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/behind-red-door/189815-school-website-hosting-costs.html#post1623217 thats what we do
  10. Whered you find those? every time ive considered meraki in my schools the licence per AP has been several times the cost of the AP alone. in the end we ended up going with aruba instants, if i want to tack on cloud management i can and if i dont feel like renewing a few years down the line i have them back as instant clusters... though HP aquired them recently and ive noticed the ap prices start to creep up - couldnt be happier with how they perform though!
  11. had this with the bosses laptop the other day, tried the mdns thing, worked for a few minutes then dead again. updated to high sierra and it appears to have resolved itself
  12. Wonder if file stream is included in the latest google GPO's might be something there -edit GFS is there, but only the thing to allow installation - see how it pans out
  13. Has anyone had issues with the file stream app not opening at login, and thus the google drive not appearing... seems to be very random
  14. imho the phone shouldnt be in the classroom. unless hes paying the teamviewer licence its not allowed to be used other than home/Testing purposes.
  15. same, cant deal with the relentless sales calls from every enquiry. theyre always over priced anyway.
  16. theyve changed their licencing again by the way, ive just had a quote for a smart site licence and it came in at <£400 pa (100% smart boards)

  20. i usually get all of mine from IDNS or Jigsaw24 never had any issues with either
  21. they have the ttl set that high? https://mxtoolbox.com/dkim.aspx put in your domain, and the selector "google" and it should print your dkim key
  22. couldnt the authority just point the nameservers to route53 or something? then you control it?
  23. the txt record should be named "google._domainkey" and have the contents of your dkim key from the google apps control panel set as the value. be careful thought, iirc its easy to hit the wrong button and it will regenerate the key. if it helps heres out entries on the dns: SPF: DKIM:
  24. i had to disable authentication/inspection for a google api url to get it to connect at one of our sites apis.google.com
