    Hi I have WSUS on Server 2008 R2, is it possible to distribute them to my clients? I can only find information regarding an update for server 2012? Surely this is not the case? it dose not appear in my WSUS updates Thanks

    Hi Edugeekers, I have a Windows 10 build as we have upgraded from Windows 7. When users login to our Juniper VPN web based client in Internet Explorer they have to install an add-on through Internet Explorer but are being asked for administrator credentials. This never happened in Windows. Does anyone know of a policy that will allow users to do this without being made an admin obviously? Many thanks

    So I have made a little mistake and accidentally deleted the whole testing folder from my build share in Deployment workbench. All the wim images are still in the build$ share in the operating Systems folder. Do I have to delete all the wim files, re create the testing folder and re add the wim images back in? Thanks

    I put the shortcuts in the public desktop folder in c:\users\Public\Desktop on the reference image, then create the deployment image for MDT

    Morning guys, I have an interesting problem, I build my machines via a deployment image using MDT. Recently I have noticed the machines I build are getting the desktop quick link to the administrator. I have no idea why this is happening. You can see in the picture what I mean. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening? It didn't use to happen and does not happen on any of the other quick links? Thanks

    Yep we currently use Impero Sentry Stick utility to allow only 3 encrypted USB sticks for staff to use. Very simple to use, check out Impero's Youtube videos. How I would be lost without Impero :-)

    Hi guys, I am currently working on my Windows 10 deployment build. I set IE and Adobe Reader as my defaults on the reference image but after sysprep and deployment EDGE returns as the defaults for all new users on the machine. Anyone know how to get around this problem? Thanks

    Morning all, I have MDT2013 update 1 and am deploying Windows 10. I am able to deploy my custim wim file to a new machine but the litetouch application which runs after the deployment does not run automatically? So Office or updates etc do not get installed automatically. In the C drive there is a litetouch shortcut, when you press this litetouch does start, instals updates and restarts. Run it again and Office installs and restarts. Then I have to run it manually a third time and it installs and the process is complete. Is there something I am missing? My original build worked fine. Thanks

    No it's the original IE 11 install from 2014. I wanted to test it on a couple of machines in my test group but somehow it deployed to everything. :-(

    Hi all, made a little boo boo. I have approved IE11 update for all my computers rather than test group and 30% have downloaded the before I could decline it. The computers have not been restarted yet. Will the computers know not to install the update now I have declined it even though they have downloaded it? Or do I have to log onto each machine and uninstall the update after the restart? I have Server 2008R2 and Windows 7 desktops. Also the reason I am worried is that a major website does not like IE11 and only like IE9 currently Thanks!!!

    Hi all, I am trying to connect a WIndows 10 Nokia 950 to my Windows 7 Pro machine via Windows Mobile Device Centre 6.1. Doesn't seem to want to connect. Anyone else have a similar issue with this? Many thanks!

    Hi guys, I have been using Imagex for capturing the data partition for Windows 7 image capturing fine. What I now want to do is capture the whole disk. i.e C drive and System Partition I can't work out the command do this even if you can. Anyone nkow of a way to do this? Either with Imagex or DISM? Thanks

    Hi, I am configuring a reference image for our laptops. One of the things we did for Win 7 was disable IE 64 as a number of our web applications do not work in 64 bit. To do this I simply renamed the IE 64 bit .exe so the users could not use it and everything was fine. On Windows 10 I have just done the same and the 32 bit IE .exe will not work if the 64 .exe is renamed ,a little bizzare. Does anyone know why this is or a work around for this? Thanks

    It will be to do with apple ports. It connects via a certain port but the download obviously comes via another unblocked cloud storage. We had this same problem when we first implemented iPads with the iCloud and other service. If your internet is managed by the local authority you probably have little to no chance of them unblocking the ports in my experience with Norfolk Shared ICT Services, but you can only ask, another school may already have a similar configuration. We only got it to work once we left them and got our own Smoothwall box and were able to open ports and test them. Good luck!

    Hi guys, Just a quick query really, going to google afterwards anyway but like to hear your thoughts. I want to upgrade our MDT2012 to the new 2013 Update 1 for our Windows 10 roll out. I am just wondering whether I can just install the 2013 Update 1 install straight on 2012, or do you have to install MDT2012 update 1, MDT2013 and then then install 2013 Update 1. Also is there anything people came across that might be helpful Thanks as always. Dan

    When they try to save do that get an error? Something like you do not have permission? We had an issue where students could open files on their home drive, but when they went to file save as and selected the mapped drive an error came up. If so I will rack my brain to remember what we did.

    Do you have a Group policy group for wireless? Sounds very much like the computer does not have permissions to authenticate

    We installed Chrome on our image a few years ago and had a problems with it running and crashing (Think this was version 22, they are on 46 now) Anyway we downloaded the ADMX templates and rolled it out via Group Policy it it worked a treat. Maybe give this a try. Also check the permissions on the profile folder, had a similar problem with Adobe CC6 a year ago where the Profile folder needed special permissions.

    I have approved some November Windows updates and tested them on a select few machines. For some reason update 20 of 25 is taking 3 hour to install on 25% of the machines. I cannot roll this update out to the whole network. Does anyone know a way of finding out which update is (update 20) so I can stop it being deployed. I do not believe these updates save anything in the event viewer logs and the WindowsUpdate.log in WIndows does not seem to show any update kb numbers or anything useful? Thanks guys!

    Spiceworks is a great free option, used it for 3 years then moved to OSTicket which is a more complete helpdesk which is also free!
