Ah nice! I wanted to get one of those top of rack switches to replace our aging DES-660 chassis, but do also have a DGS-6604 Chassis when we expanded on 10gb links.

I'm using D-Link for L3 inter-vlan Routing, so a couple of things to check: Whats the model of the switch? Did you add a L3 IP Interface address into the switch for the VLAN? Once you have done the above, if you point the clients default gateway to the IP of the switch you can then test ping all the Interfaces on the L3 switch to confirm routing.

We have a fully managed wireless system, but it's by D-Link. Occasionally we get the same issue where even though nothing has changed, the laptops will run fine, get 30 students logged on no problem, then once in a blue moon we get 15 connected, some don't get network access and ping's to the laptops are in the thousands. Typically, I don't do much, just reboot the nearest AP, which forces them to another AP, then when the closest one comes back on they start connecting properly. Just how it is, but 99% of the time class fulls have no issues. Not switched to 5ghz. 2.4 is adequate, 5ghz doesn't have the range and power of 2.4hz and shouldn't be an issue if you don't have other devices causes interference.

The server still looks of good spec - just renew the warranty if you can. I'm still running 12 x HP servers with a mix of ML350 G5's and G6's - came with their 3 year warranty, never renewed so out of warranty - only had the odd HDD failure. HP servers are rock solid. It's all I've ever had.

To me if everything moves to the cloud it does away with needing on-site technical staff! Would make the job quite boring! A good way to keep staff costs down too.

I'm not looking to go Hybrid yet - I still want to have emails locally, I just need 365 accounts for online services and this seems the easiest route to go for users to use their existing AD login. If I check the users properties they already have the proper school domain set as SMTP:[email protected] as the primary.

Hi We have a local exchange server with email addresses in the format of [email protected] Having setup the AD Synchronization and all accounts showing in O365 admin, it's changed the email addresses to [email protected] Our AD usernames are surname space initial: bloggs J How do I get 365 to use the correct email address format? Can this be done for WSUS rather than having to decline the latest version?

I've got it sorted now. I have forgotten to the UPN Suffix in the AD user account properties , so all working now :-)

So i'm looking to sync our AD users and passwords with Office 365 , but still remain with our local exchange server. The sync tool has uploaded the users to the office 365 admin but have an issue. In the Service manager installed locally it only shows my local ad DNS name and the onmicrosoft.com domain , not our official school domain. However, during the install of the service tol it verified that our schoolname.org.uk matched. When I log in to the admin tool it has created all the users, but all their email addresses are set to @nameonmicrosoft.com although in domains I have our .org.uk set as default. Can someone who has this installed help me out possibly so that the users being uploaded are set to domain.org.uk I can login with the AD users name and password ok with the onmicrosoft login just not our official domain. thanks.

Our school uses Remote Desktop to connect to PSF. When we were on Windows 7 we discovered that the session was disconnecting when the session was minimised, and when restoring the window after a few minutes it would come up with reconnecting and then the session would continue and not completely disconnected. If was solved by adding the remote URL into the proxy bypass settings, and it cured this. However, I've now upgraded the staff to Windows 10 and the issue has come back. However, the proxy settings assigned are EXACTLY the same, and I know that the other exceptions are working as can access those without any issues, and if I remove them, it tried to access through the proxy. We have to use a proxy to access the internet, however on Windows 10 if I disable the proxy, connect to the remote session, it doesn't have to reconnect - you can just bring the window back up and the session is still there as our firewall provider allows this connection directly without needing to go through a proxy, but we do need a proxy in for the internet to work. What else could be causing this as I know they'll want it sorting but I cannot work out why it should be any different. Any help would be great if anyone else uses PSF and had this issue or been reported to them.

Indeed it was the PSU! I swapped it with another server I had 2 in as this one only had 1 and now it's booted. IT is weird! PSU failure but still got LAN lights but no iLO light or access! Never mind now back online! Thanks.

Single PSU network lights show activity on the rear of the server but the iLO is unreachable. I do have a single HP SIM server installed showing server as offline. Not going to get any output as doesn't boot or accessible via ilo as that management IP is unreachable too even with power applied to the server. Was working fine and monitoring shows the ilo and server being unreachable at 4:30am this morning!

Came in this morning to a monitoring notification saying one of the servers down - HP DL360 G5 and amber light on the front power button. On pressing the button I get 1 second of green LED, fans start to spin up then goes back to amber and off mode. Pulled mains lead for 2 minutes, connected back, tried to power on, same as above. No Health LEDs on the front or pull out info.. Any ideas?

Still do, still will. quicker logging on with a roaming profile (after initial login) than waiting for a local profile to be created each time.

Why not add a vbs script file to the logon section of GPO. If I have any important messages I do that so they see it when login and have to close it.

I don't use cached credentials, even with the clients. if the network isn't there, it cant login.

We have MyConcern - seems to work ok but I had no input on what the school went for.

All my DC's are Physical, Would never virtualize. Unless your Hyper-V hosts are on a workgroup, surely a DC would need to initialise first before the hyper-v server can login/authenticate. Always got physical DC's so at least users can log on even if I had a failure of application servers.

I've done some testing between 2 switches and if I physically disconnect a cable from one of the LAG ports I get 1 ping loss then traffic goes over other cable. However, in the event of a dodgy link and I want to disable one of the ports, I see that this is not possible as it disables the entire LAG . Is there any way round this so in the event of a dodgy link I can remote in and disable the issue link keeping the other one remaining?

Does the Active/Passive settings matter? If I get a faulty module which results in intermittent pings will it automatically still failover to the remaining link, or does the link have to be physically down (connection wise) for it to take place?

I'm looking into testing some switch redundancy using multiple links,. Am I correct that Link Aggregation is the best way to do using this using an LACP type rather than static? Also, on both the source and destination switch should the ports be set as active or passive? As it's a switch to switch link, are there 2 different configurations required whether I want this to be: Scenario 1: 1 link primary active - if that experiences issues, switch to the second link Scenario 2: both links active and traffic balanced across. In both scenario's is a link has an intermittent ping issue or fault/loss of connection, the remaining link we continue working almost immediately? How does the above fit in with STP? Thanks.
