  1. One day, long, long ago....... there lived a woman who did not whine, nag or complain. But this was a long time ago....... and it was just that one day. The End
  2. 44 updates today, might be a record! I'm sure I'm only set for English and no IE8, but they're definitely there! Time to recheck the settings
  3. Has anyone used the video-editing features of Photoshop CS3 extended? If so what are they like? Use here won't be much more than taking video from a camera basic edting, possibly a soundtrack and outputting to DVD, wmv or MPEG. I'd rather not have to buy premiere as well if I can! Cheers!
  4. It takes a while here, maybe 1-2 minutes, but not 5 minutes that's
  5. No to the June update, waiting for LEA to do that @ Stewart, I thought it was just me who had those problems, glad I'm not alone
  6. When I saw the ballot was for two days action, the first thing I thought was whether or not I could afford two days without pay. As oe emember of staff here said, hopefully it will only be two days rather than months of one day at a time. I also have a wedding to save for, but luckily no kids (yet!) and the missus has recently moved in so her salary should help ease the situation. Hopefully it will be resolved and we won't have to strike (I'm trying to be optimistic today!!)
  7. Monthly for me, weekly and I'd end up ignoring them! Case studies, and a day in the life of a different tech would be interesting, along with latest relevant news - software, hardware, policies, etc, etc (with policies, initiatives, etc, please bear in mind some of us are in Wales and we abide by the WAG not Mr Browns education bods on the plus side it means no BSF )
  8. LOL!! If most, or all, of the support staff are out you'll find the school's shut anyway (canteen staff are UNISON in our place as well) If the school is open a strike in Sympathy by the servers could easily be arranged, 'must have been a power outage in the night'
  9. I think that calls for use of the emoticon! Thankfully there are some decent people around - apart from us edugeekers
  10. Thanks, just looked into that, but unfortunately the free version is only up to 100 responses. I don't think the school will pay for the higher response version, also not sure we could pay by Purchase Order and queries need to be run on the information, etc, etc................ I've no experience of Sharepoint, and my Apache and MySQL skills aren't too hot either........... It's going to be a steep learning curve! Thanks again, guys
  11. I've been asked to setup a Questionnaire on our Intranet which will talk to an Access or SQL express dB. It'll be used to ask questions about routes to schools for pupils, and will possibly have up to 60 (or more) pupils accessing it at the same time. The queries, etc, are being done by our head of IT and I'm going to be doing some googling and playing today, but does anyone have an idiots guide on where to start!! It's been years since I've done any Access work........... TIA
  12. Agreed, DON'T DO IT!! See here I'm sure it is possible if you read up and test beforehand, personally I'd leave it alone though!
  13. I did wonder, but still it was one of the better hoaxes I've seen!
  14. Are you sure they're safe!!?? Tlphone Portable + Mas = Pop-corn
  15. Only techies here have admin rights, there is two of us though. Could you compromise and put the admin password in a locked safe, so if the unfortunate happened to you, and someone else had to step in they could?? As for day to day stuff, only give him the access he needs not wants!!
  16. I'm happy for it to stay Could you just block the left hand side please
  17. I know bonkers!!! That's the first thing I thought when I heard how much they earned!! I can't read the article due to the f word!!
  18. We're going thin client in a few suites, and the servers are running the new greener Intel chips (forgotten model number), that's about as good as we'll get for a while! As for eco cars, aren't the Prius batteries made in a factory in an area with the highest pollution in the world and transported long distances? - not very eco after all!!
  19. That sounded like a bit of fun, until the last bit....... Think I would have politely declined!
  20. Walk into school one morning this week to be asked by member of (attractive female) staff who's covering reception if I can see her 'bum' through her white trousers. Being a professional I carefully take a look and inform her that unfortunately I could not. Apparently her husband was away that morning so she couldn't ask him and she was paranoid that they were a bit see through........
  21. Have to agree, and glad to see Phil has had a word With the bytes free error, is it down to permissions? Just a stab in the dark...........
  22. Sorry couldn't resist
  23. Who me!?!
  24. As my sister now has mine as her home PC (she paid me for it though, I'm not that generous!!) I need to buy another one for myself. Any good deals still out there? I've given up waiting for our supplier to come through with a promised quote
  25. I've just put speedfan on my PC to test before using on a laptop to identify if it's overheating (it keeps freezing), according to it my PC should be on fire!!
