  1. That is so baaad I think a could be in order
  2. Yes! I know I'd get a severe beating for doing that here!
  3. < Couldn't find a worship smilie, have this one instead
  4. If memory serves me right, we don't get the recovery console option when using our Evesham recovery disks, but do with the volume licence version
  5. If the (my) car is stolen, rest assured I'll be on the case
  6. Fallback is using a local Primary school's network. We're handing out paper results there anyway, and if our network (or rather the link to county) isn't up and running, we will be packing up our server and 1 PC and shipping them down there as well. Worrying about SIMS updates is a headache we can do without at this time!
  7. Not much chance of an install here, don't even now for definite our network will be up and running in new school by then
  8. Um, don't think the NUT would have been too pleased about that
  9. Well apart from the jobs left by the boss of the house, I'm now about to start working through my 2008 server MCITP training kit. Fun days ahead! What are you guys up to!? And for those in work, trust me I'd rather be there to, we're packing up to move schools and there's loads left to do by 4:00pm Friday!!
  10. That's what we're doing with our laptops until we get 1GB in them! My tech mentioned it runs on 512MB but is a bit sloooooooooow!
  11. A whitelist for banned pupils is something I'm thinking of introducing, though I do agree that it is a classroom control issue, not a technical one....... I also think we need a discussion on this in our school, I may raise it at our next staff forum meeting to get a spread of views before discussing it with management. As others have found, the banning one lesson, and then unbanning next, etc, etc is a right PITA
  12. Found this thread whilst looking for something else! Fascinating stuff!
  13. I think RussDevs idea of something you wouldn't have thought of is a good one. PCs, printers, etc are going to be covered by your replacement program. I would be tempted to look at something different, perhaps software or hardware a dept would really like/need but can't afford, or perhaps something completely way out (extra curricular, etc) they couldn't justify financially!! A key thing will be to get the dept/teacher to justify how it will improve teaching and learning, and to evaluate it's use - Management like it
  14. Quality!! I particularly like
  15. I think Faith of Heart is a good one Another one is Praise You - Fatboy Slim "We’ve come a long long way together, through the hard times and the good....."
  16. School's out - Alice Cooper I've been dying to use that smilie for a long time!!!
  17. Foam packing
  18. Have you setup a trust relationship between the two domains?
  19. Before deleting anything I would be inclined to check with staff that the work is definitely not needed! There are some cases where courses start in year 9, and portfolis are built up over years of work!! If you have quotas set on their home directories then space shouldn't be an issue.
  20. Well done matey!!!
  21. It's Sophos and you can kill it, I do when it starts hogging too many resources I would check what groups the admin account is a member of.
  22. Couldn't resist
  23. Network Manager at Atlantic College Sounds like a good gig to me! £27,500, not too big a setup, nice location, VI form only!! I asked about the start date and salary, here's the response:
  24. How long ago was this? A good few months back we were having to ship faulty laptops back to them (that have on site warranties ) Our issue is a room of 17 PCs of which most randomly fail to completely boot up, reinstall of Windows hasn't helped. To start with it was only a few, very occasionally, but as sods law would have it it's got a lot worse
  25. Resurrecting an old thread....... Has anyone had any luck recently with Evesham support. (I know they've gone completely under now and their offices are up for sale.) Have the warranties been taken on by the muppets that now own Evesham, or are we Their website still exists but support e-mails are bouncing back, I'm going to try ringing tomorrow (don't hold out much hope)
