No issues. SIMS works fine (and has done for a decade or more) without admin rights.

We're having the same issue, only with serial boards, since moving to Windows 10. Tried both the latest driver and the last supported version of the serial driver, and it still happens. Sometimes immediately, sometimes after a number of days.

Ask Progresso and Diagnostic Questions what data they actually need. Restrict the Wonde user that access your MIS so they can only access the stuff needed. (EDIT: That post to GrahamB!)

I created a custom group with one user in it. They have access to as little as possible there - student and staff basic details, curriculum, timetables, reports, third party reports.

The "trick" with Wonde is to create a specific user in SIMS and only give that user access to the bare minimum necessary. Basic data protection principle. Why Wonde don't do this by default, especially given GDPR, baffles me. FWIW, we went to Hegarty Maths this week having used Wonde previously (with this setup) for Diagnostic Questions, and adding Hegarty involved an email from them saying Wonde will email me asking for authorisation, and that email from Wonde. So I'm all for how easy it is, but horrified at the lack of basic data control in place.

Not sure that will wash in front of the BBC employee who will be here in a few days, that we'll be showing stuff from iPlayer in front of!

We have this problem now. Staff want to use iPlayer, but need a logon. Obviously can't provide a school one as it'll be shared and the password changed. Did anyone find a way round this?

OK, it's time to ask... How the heck do you get this to work? I've done it "the old way" (set a folder redirect GPO). I've followed every guide I can find. I've created brand new users, brand new machines, just one single setting on a single policy. I've checked permissions. Tried giving my user admin rights and full control even. Upgraded to 1709 because "that fixes the issue" (which somewhere also says 1607 did too - it didn't). Eventvwr says the policy has applied. GP results say it has applied. The damn registry has the right settings too! It. Doesn't. Work. What I want, is a start menu that picks up shortcuts from a network share. That's all. Same as on XP and 7. I don't care about the tile layouts (they can go, actually), and can probably sort getting rid of the useless built-in apps. Instead, I have something that works, then the user logs off and back on (the same machine!) and variously ALL the shortcuts are gone, or they're reset back to the defaults. Then sometimes when I log back on, they're back and correct. And sometimes they're not. It's maddening. I've read up a lot and the consensus seems to be: don't bother. Stick all the shortcuts on the desktop or don't use roaming profiles or something. But surely someone must have this working?

Looking at Class Charts ourselves, but in the Groupcall setup it's pulling staff personal address data out of SIMS! I don't think so!

Hmm. Alarm bells! Had a call back from "Pupil Asset", name given as the same person at Wonde who I'd spoken to. We have no dealings with Pupil Asset.

I seem to recall SeaQuest DSV also used Amigas and video toasters. And, I think, Space Precinct did too.
