Yes I have, we have BE12d, although for some stupid reason I only bought one licence not 2 (have two backup libraries...) Time to beg for more money... One irrititating issue I'm having is creating the SSL certificate, it's taking ages to generate. We can't get the one from JANET as our domain name is held by us not the LEA and we can't request it ourselves

We haven't used public folders, so haven't checked if that's okay! I would have waited until half term as well, but our old mail server has 150MB free (and dropping fast) on the C drive, and that's after deleting everything possible and moving the page file to the d drive, so i didn;t want to chance leaving it too long. Damn Windows updates and service packs!! Only minor issue was that the IE shortcut I put out didn;t work as the 'do not use proxy for these addresses ' didn't update. All sorted now (I hope!) Now to get the documents link working in OWA2007

HOORAY!! Stayed behind tonight to move all mailboxes from Exchange 2003 on Server 2003 to Exchange 2007 on Server 2008 and it ALL WORKS!!!! It only took 5 hours...... There should be an opposite forum to FFS for when things unexpectedly work!! I just hope this server isn't going to be like the other Fujitsus we have and randomly hang

Was hoping to join in on this peer support group. but I'm starting on the 2008 track not 2003 I've had the MS study pack for a while now and started it (even bought a server to play around with!) but haven't got very far. I'm hoping the 5 day course in November will spur me on with this!

Shows your willing to cooperate, but not be pushed into it!? As for teachers getting the same treatment, doesn't a lot of their funding come from central pots rather than school budget? I've only ever bought official replacements. TBH I didn't know there were compatible ones around, doesn't surprise me that there are though! I'd be wanting to know if the UPS monitoring hardware and software picks up how much charge and run time the battery has okay with the compatibles. I don't see why it shouldn't but you never know if APC have tied it down to their own batteries.......

Okay I'm jealous! Management here have just put aside £40k a year for hardware. 1250 kids, and around 540 PCs/laptops/thin client. I'm looking at a 4 year lifecycle, but haven't had time to look into it too much yet.

Edit: Typo on topic! I haven't time travelled and seen MSs future offering! - Fixed (Ric_) I've been trying to bring 4 of our 5 Fujitsu-Siemens RX300s online with 2008 std 32bit server. Unfortunately they all randomnly freeze. Our existing 2003 SP2 servers are all fine. Fujitsu have taken one back to bench test and no surprise it is 100% fine for them! - 3 servers are running 2008 with TS 32bit installed and Office 2007 enterprise(will be running 100 Thin Client) - 1 server is running 2008 as a DC (demoted before sending this server to Fujitsu for testing), Backup Exec 12d and is destined to run all our apps - 1 server (not online yet) will be running Exchange 2007 Our event logs show nothing unusual, the fujistu tools show nothing either. The servers are not under load, at the moment we only have 29 Thin client online. And the apps server does naff all as there's no point when it freezes! As all is well with the server at Fujitsu HQ I can only assume it is something on my setup causing it, but surely if it was a config issue it would affect the 2003 servers? I've thought about a pwer issue, but the new servers (and old file server) are plugged into APC UPSs which don't show that they're overloaded (old DC's are on own UPSs). And I think the Fujitsu tools would show if it was power. I'm at a loss to this and it's now starting to cause us a problem as we need the Thin Client online, and our old Exchange server is out of disk space so the new one is desperately needed! I'm open to all suggestions no matter how obvious they maybe to try! HELP!

Our LEA (same as Pooley) doesn't have an education IT dept any more.......... I went to the BCBC IT forum a couple of months back and Jenny from ESIS was there, she was talking about e-learning pathways and it was agrred it would be put on the agenda for a future meeting to discuss further. I assume this would involve some kind of VLE.... It could be worth a few schools getting together to combine knowledge and costs? Assume you are in a secondary school?

IMO having experience of the outside world before heading into teaching is a good thing! It's easy to spot those who've always been in teaching and those that haven't in my place!

The Esprimo PCs we installed over the summer (and still are!) seem pretty good so far. Having problems with their Primergy Servers and Win 2008 server, but it's too early to say where the fault lies....

I think for S Wales and what I do I'm paid a fair wage, especially as my hours are 8-4 and I get 29 days leave a year. Industry would probably be a lot different (unless you're v lucky!)! I think our place is just starting to realise what we do, as we're three weeks into the new year and we still don't have all the IT kit up and running in the new school. I wasn't allowed to buy in support so two of us are setting up all the old and new kit we have. Our LEA helped us move the old kit at the new school but that's all the help we've had! I've done one weekend, but quite frankly I'm so knackered by Friday that another weekend is out of the question, especially as overtime is unheard of......... Apologies for going OT............

Same here. I don't have an extension socket to try either....

We have two Monarch (Lapcabby?) trolleys here. They look good compared to the rubbish we had before, but having only just put one trolley into use it's difficult to say what the long term verdict will be!
