I'd say - good luck with that. The only way to reduce printing is to remove printers, use pull printing and make people walk to collect their jobs. Ideally, you want one printer, in a basement room, behind a locked door, with a sign which says "Beware of the leopard". We've tried signs saying "Only print what you really need" without success. We also have a printer credit system. Ideally, once you've used your allowance, you go to SMT and plead your case as to why you want more. SMT have washed their hands of it and told us just to allocate more on demand.

Possibly! I used to record the Naked Vicar Show and one night it was running late. I telephoned the station and was put through to the announcer. He said "It will be on after this advert. I'll give you an extra 30 seconds." He obviously knew what I was about to do.

Pre-recorded tapes were baffling. Blank tapes were great - I've got hundreds of hours of vintage radio programs that I recorded when I was at uni. Also, some episodes of programs such as Hancocks Half Hour have only survived because of tape and people like me. The BBC wiped many of their tapes have have been on a quest to recover as much missing stuff as they can get their paws on.

When I was in a park in St Petersburg, the toilets had doors marked M & F (as you would expect), but the doors both opened into one big room. Also, the gym I used in Australia had communal toilets and showers. Toilets were easy - just cubicles. Showers more difficult - you either took your bathers or were broad minded. I've never understood vandalism in toilets. As has been pointed out, we all need to go sometime. Perhaps that's the answer - don't fix them and see if there is an improvement in behaviour.

Moodle works fine on WAMP if it helps - that's how we run it. It's a doddle to setup - there's plenty of docs available on moodle.org. It really does just work.

We use an old version of https://flippingbook.com/ I don't know if it can handle youtube vids. One nice feature is the ability to produce a self running usb stick for Mac and Windows.

VLC won't play it and it's a region 4 disk. No joy with AnyDVD or DVDFab - although free download, there is no trial that I could find. Any copy protection is CSS/CPPM from what I can tell. I'll have to try resetting the DRM. What I find really odd is that a DVD player won't play it, not even my own which handles every disk (except this one).

A teacher has a DVD of "I, Daniel Blake" a film by Ken Loach. It says the disk is copy protected, which is the reason, I think, that it won't play on the PC on her room, or indeed any PC that I've tried. It won't play on a DVD player either which is puzzling, yet it will play just fine on my Mac. Any idea as to why this is so? It's a genuine DVD. I can't really have a classroom full of students watching on my Mac.

That's the problem I have. The science techies have an engraver that we could use. We used to have DT as a subject and the teacher said he was going to make me a stencil that I could use to guide the engraver. Sadly, he never did. One option for plastics is an electric branding iron - smelly but permanent. I haven't marked any plastic items for ages. We have the white compound and it worked fine but as you say it might well scratch off modern plastics. The aluminium compound works very well on iPads and similar tablets.

My sister has it in Australia. Pros are that you don't have to water it, mow it (although you do need to vacuum it - she does) and it is always green. Cons - it 's damn hot under foot in the summer and if you have a dog, the poos sit around. My last school tried in one on of the play areas (before my time). It had been down a couple of weeks and a heavy wind tore it up and deposited it on the main road that the school was on. I don't know if the Dodgy Bros installed it.

It used to the essential telephone accessory, but not now. I can't remember the last time one was delivered; it automatically goes straight into the recycle bin, as does the Yellow Pages and the Thompson. Come to think of it, I haven't seen a Thompson for ages - maybe they've gone too.
