My garage gets used for three things : making things - my bench and vice are in there my weights and bench are in there drying the washing in the winter - I can do this in the washer/dryer but a couple of fans are much cheaper to run and it drys fine With that, the car sits on the drive outside. The weight bench takes up about 1/3 of the garage and more if you include my wall mounted chinup bar. The bar also gets used to hold a safety post when I want to use by cycle rollers. Here's a pic - the bike is my Brompton. http://images.yuku.com/image/jpg/b850f07645634649b14a3646b36cd967_r.jpg

We've found the generic W10 graphics driver to be pants - better to use one from the graphics card manufacturer. For my ATI Radeon HD2400 Pro there is no W10 driver but the W8 version works just fine.

We experienced less problems back in the big iron and mini days. The problem is computers these days are cheap and nasty. I was only thinking the other day, how I never experienced o/s crashes on the £60,000 (that's 1997 pounds), IBM RS/6000 that was my development machine. I really miss the days when I regularly worked in £1,000,000+ boxes, and you had to know what you were doing before you were even allowed to look at one.

I run openSuse on my home box; I've been running it for three years. It's great except for the dreaded systemd. I'm going to reinstall it soon and try PCLinuxOS - the only rpm distro without systemd. 17 years of Linux at home now (I've never owned a Windows box) and I first used Linux professionally in 1997.

I watching the season of Laurel and Hardy films being shown on Talking Pictures TV. I don't know the last time that any where on the TV, except for The Flying Deuces which pops up sometimes. Yesterday was Block-Heads , still very funny.

Why do you hate the way Apple work? With Apple you buy the complete solution. With M$ you buy an o/s and then you have to buy some hardware to run it on. Different marketing strategies. Apple is akin to buying a car. Microsoft is akin to buying a kit car. Kit car are usually unfinished and unreliable.

At one place I worked, we used a combination of the odd job man (who was a body builder), a sledge hammer and a cold chisel. Guaranteed destruction and very cheap!

I used to sort of have one. At one job that I had for a year, my desk was a monitor on the wall with a shelf underneath for keyboard and mouse. It was in the server room, with no windows but on the plus side it was great in the summer. I used to spend as much time as possible visiting the users - anything for daylight. The standing up wasn't too good either. A good chair will help your back no end. I have a BackApp Chair on loan and I'm finding it very good although I still get up and walk about a lot. The downside is they are quite high and I had to put my desk on bricks. I went to the Back Pain Show a couple of months ago and saw one there, and tried it for 20 mins or so. Felt great. When I had one delivered, it didn't feel too good for the first week, but I gave it time and now I love it. I have to convince the college to fork out for it. One of our teachers sits on a Swiss Ball. They are quite cheap. Several years ago I used to sit on one off these https://www.amazon.co.uk/Teknik-Ergonomic-Kneeling-Chair-Charcoal/dp/B00359Z8VE and I have one at home, but my knees don't like it much these days. If you go for a stand-up desk, perhaps consider a stand-up stool? Stand Up Chairs & Office Stools from Posturite There are some saddle chairs on this page which I also tried at the Back Pain Show. They seemed OK but I didn't find them as confortable as the BackApp. This company is the one that loaned me the chair. What about this for the ultimate in back support? I have no idea as to how you get in and out of it and it looks to me to be very easy to fall asleep in. http://furnituresonlineusa.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/the-awesome-along-with-interesting-proper-office-chair-posture-with-regard-to-residence-proper-idea-for-kitchen-table-500x578.jpg

I've never been a fan of marmalade or strawberry jam (as far as I'm concerned anything labelled strawberry is a waste of time). Give me raspberry or apricot jam on toast anytime. Honey is good too.
