  1. I don't think drinking from a mug is as bad as using a mobile phone. Drivers on the phone tend to concentrate on the conversation, not what is beyond the bonnet.
  2. I buy most of my work clothes from https://www.ctshirts.com/uk/home - have to be neat at work, 'cus at home I dress like a slob.
  3. Found it! Uninstall update kb2693643 - it's so good when an update breaks something!
  4. This morning I messed up AD tools on my W10 PC, so I reinstalled them. Now I am missing most of the tabs on ADUC. For example, if I click on the properties for a group, I only see the security tab (not the members, etc) and if I click on the properties for a user, there is nothing useful. Any ideas how to put the missing tabs back? Thanks!
  5. You're sitting down ready to dip those soldiers in your egg, but you need to crack the shell. What do you do? Buy a Eierschalen-sollbruchstellen-verursacher of course! Video of one in action Further googling reveals this is the trade marked name. Sensible Germans call it a

  7. https://opensource.com/article/18/4/open-source-apps-windows#comment-153841 Now that W10 has SnippingTool.exe, the Greenshot screen capture program probably isn't that useful. Not sure about QuickLook file previewer, however Ditto clipboard manager finally plugs a hole in Windows. On Linux (KDE) I can have upto 10 entries in my clipboard and I am constantly frustrated that Windows doesn't have this. Now if only we can have multiple desktops and proper multiple logins.

  12. I saw it on the big screen when it was released. Excellent film, and accurate too from what I remember of the events. There are, of course, a few production goofs.
  13. What about if the reader had to go into the room naked? Would be painful to smuggle in a camera As has been said, this is a policy issue.
  14. Short answer - even further down the pan than it has gone in the last 15 years. Experience has always shown that when a perfectly good simple, mechanical system is replaced with technology, the result is a disaster. More sensible answer. More fairly useless technology will make our job more difficult. Case in point. We, like many schools have classroom doors controlled by swipe card, which are forever refusing to open for the teacher. So IT have to go along and use a key to open the door. If just key locks had been used in the first place, we wouldn't have any problems. Somebody in SMT decided that having teachers take the register was too difficult, so we moved to a swipe card system so the students can clock themselves into a lesson. The boxes are USB powered and sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. I think if they had the capability to plug in an external power supply they would work, but they don't. The old register system (class list printed on a piece of paper and a pencil) never, ever failed. Final case in point. We have interactive whiteboards that have been around since the XP days. They still work so they haven't been replaced, but the PCs have been. W10 comes along and we have to jump through hoops to get the interactive whiteboard to work. I have two Prometheans which work. I have an identical Promethean on an identical PC with exactly the same W10 image and it refuses to interact. It used to work fine under W7.
  15. Abandon weights and try Kin Shi-Hai Do - you have to be disciplined to get benefits. Alternatively, try The 15 Minute Equipment-Free Muscle-Building Workout - I do bits of it in addition to my weight training, which is pretty much all body weight. I love my dips and pull-ups.
  16. In a follow up video, Joerg attaches the camera to an arrow and shoots it at things. Amazingly, the camera survives a number of impacts.
  17. The (IMO) far superior Battlebots is due a return to Spike later in the year and you can catch the repeats of season 7 on Saturday 10:00am on Spike.
  18. I have an ancient Brompton, and I'd quite like the forthcoming Brompton Electric. https://www.brompton.com/Brompton-Electric I can't afford (or justify) the £2,595 to £2,755 price tag, especially as my Brommie was £495 when I got it.

  24. IMO she isn't a patch on the ageless Lynda Carter, who really hasn't changed much in 35 years.
