All the HTs around here seem to have iPads. My own HT bought his own though -
[Poll] Is it true that Older Fathers have Geekier Sons? (Or daughters?)
witch replied to elsiegee40's topic in General Chat
What do they consider "older" though? I can't see it in the article. my mum was 29, my dad 34 when i was born. My own children were born when both mrwITch and I were 29, 31 and 33. The middle one is now geeky in terms of software development, but the other two are engineers so I don't know if that counts -

We are not doctors - but it could be epilepsy, or even something as simple as ME which needs to be addressed as soon as possible. just make sure you tell the doctor EVERYTHING - however small Good luck

RIP Brian Cant - Play School presenter dies aged 83
witch replied to elsiegee40's topic in General Chat
I loved Play Away even though I was actually too old for it - a very clever man - will be missed -
A friend was staying in a local hotel for some months due to a flood in her home. She woke up one night and there was a man standing at the bottom of the bed. She described him as having long hair, a loose waistcoat and baggy trousers. She dived under the covers and when she looked again he was gone. She laughingly mentioned it to the staff the next day - thinking they would laugh - and they looked at her and described him! This was the Bridge House Hotel at Longham, Dorset

I thought it was the book from the original Mummy films

We have used Dragon and once you have done the setup it is pretty good - but the setup is a complete pain in the rear, particularly as you are likely to be asking children to read out quite long passages of words. It may have changed a bit since we bought it though

Did you call? Think you might mean "which" :)

Dark Matter comes back tonight- yay! Have started watching "Ransom" - not bad so far
-
The Mummy Absolutely dreadful - no acting to speak of,dreadfully edited, bad CGI in places. Why call it "The Mummy" anyway -giveit a new name.

A big part of my childhood too.

Well it was a bit "it was all a dream" ish but it was good

It is basically an IMAP migration. I have done it twice BUT we do not integrate with AD so things might be different. I did it with a CSV (i think easymail gave me info on how to do it?) The HT in this school basically told me that he only wanted SLT and a few choice accounts migrated, everyone else got a month to go through their emails and then it all went and they started afresh. Certainly saved me a lot of hassle - my other school wanted them all migrated and it was a pain. Microsoft 2nd line support were absolutely brilliant though

Problems with RD after account re-creation
witch replied to bondbill2k2's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
Change the name? I usually put in a middle initial or a random number when recreating an account as I have had this or similar issues many times before -
If you are sure you can pay it off before the o% offer finishes, then that's fine.
-
@Tesla Don't get tangled up in thinking about paying off bits and pieces at 0% interest. You aren't getting a credit card for that. Just go with those of us who say get one, get the rewards, and pay it off every month. @john does a DD so that he doesn't have to remember to do it.
-
Like elsiegee40, we have had credit cards for years and years and we always pay off the balance every month - we have never had our credit limit reduced - raised if anything. We use the credit card for most things - we have a Tesco credit card and so we get Clubcard points for using it. My advice is to think of it as just deferring your payment for a few weeks (until the bill appears). DON'T put anything on it that you cannot afford with cash - this means you won't be able to pay off the balance and will have to pay the very high interest rates. There are some good 0% deals around but if you are inexperienced then it might be hard to remember when the deals end etc. My son was advised to get a card to increase his credit score and it did work. Now he puts food and petrol on the card and pays it off every month

Yep - and I have told my 26 year old son just that

That's the other thing - in my experience people who play vinyl use decent amps and speakers, whereas many (I didnt say all) CD players have rubbish amps and speakers, and if you play them through a computer - well you get what you get. As @jthompson says, the mixing these days is very different too. @synasthesia So you can't ever listen to live music then? As for the warmth varying - it does, but then again it does in real life. To me it is quite obvoius which is CD and which is vinyl - except possibly the new stuff which has been remastered for vinyl - so it is still digital
-
Just for info - part of the reason for the resurgence of vinyl is musical. Digital CDs are cold and perfect - but music isn't like that, and analogue records have a much warmer feel to them -the music sounds better. If you listen carefully, you can hear the difference. But cassettes - nope, can't see any reason for that

Depends where you are and who you use. We have a maintenance contract with them as well so I can't give you a price for just the backup. But lots of people do it, including our Local Authority. Where are you, @sydborn ?
-
I have a cloud backup with a local support company. Prior to this I backed up to an external drive
-
Me too - it was a bit of fun
