BIOS updated, no different. All driver settings appear to be set correctly under Advanced and Power Management. I'd like this to work as we fire up the PCs in the middle of the night, tell them to do Windows Updates and then shutdown again. At the moment I'm going to have classes of kids coming in to screens saying the PC can't boot. Argh!

But it's the fact it states it can't find an OS on the hard disk which gets me. That isn't telling me it's trying to boot from the NIC and failing. I'd say that it's trying to boot from the HD but can't see the OS. I've checked the NIC driver in Windows and all seems to be set correctly.

The closest I can see is in Advanced -> Power-On Options, which says "Remote Wakeup Boot Source" and it's set to "Local Hard Drive". There certainly isn't anything called "Network Boot Order" or similar. Stuart

HP Desktop 280 G2 SFF. If I shutdown a computer by going through the start menu, when I press the power button it boots back up fine. If I shutdown a computer by going through the start menu, but then try and WOL it using Impero it tells me it can't find a boot device. Without turning the computer off, if I simply press CTRL+ALT+DEL then it boots fine. Thanks, but that appears to be redirecting depending on the security group the user is in. I only want to redirect for students, and I want it based on which OU the computer is in. Or am I reading it wrong?

We're going through a transition at the moment of Office 2013 -> Office 2016, and have different computers with different things installed on anyway. Because this means different icons work in different rooms/different trolleys, I'd rather have the desktop redirect to a different place depending on where the student is logging in. I tried setting a desktop redirect per computer OU and just couldn't get it working properly. I did the loopback processing mode thingy. Has anyone done it that can give me some pointers please? It is very costly as you need to buy entirely new hardware throughout. If you're in our position where the kit is so old you need to do that even with your current provider then it's expensive whatever you do. NRS told us that as our kit was so old, even if we stayed with them we would have to redo everyone's fingerprint so we definitely have nothing to lose by looking at alternatives. You'd have thought knowing that, they would give us a reason to stay. They didn't.

We're going through this process at the moment. Currently with NRS (now Civica) with very old kit they will stop supporting soon. We asked around a few places; - Civica - Dearest and we know their support isn't very good. Nothing seems to be included in the support cost. It's all extra! - BioStore - Very quick, very professional, very good looking tills and software, good price. - (We told this guy we'd got in touch with Cunninghams and he said "Oh, you won't hear back from them") - Cunninghams - We didn't hear back from them. Eventually we chased, and they got a quote together, but it was a struggle. - LiveRegister - Product looked dated but technically capable. Worth a chat. Stuart

I have a file server with deduplication on it. 1.36TB partition. It says it's saving me about 31% at the moment. Marvelous! It had around 38GB free earlier. I moved off 50GB of photos which I know aren't duplicated anywhere else on the drive and now I have 29GB free. What did I miss? Is there a clean up utility I can run to tidy something? I don't have as many previous versions available as I would like at the moment. Thank you Stuart

Hi all, I have a lady in the office who "Can no longer send out data collection sheets in paper form due to GDPR" so wants Capita's app - Yes I know, but that's not what I'm here about. Have people successfully used the app for data collection? Are there any aspects you can't get through it so you have to ask the parents anyway? Do you have many who can't/won't use it? Having looked about, opinions on the app generally from staff and parents don't seem brilliant, but if you can't do data collection on it either then it seems a bit of a no-brainer not to use it really. I would get it changed at some point it's just for the benefit of getting more IPs now, I might leave the DG where it is until a holiday. Stuart
