I've done the "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object". System has Full, Admins have Full, Users have "Read & Execute", Everyone has "Read & Execute". Stuart

Sadly no. Event log says; EventID 1542 Windows cannot load classes registry file. DETAIL - The system cannot find the file specified. I'm also getting; EventID 1505 Windows cannot load the user's profile but has logged you on with the default profile for the system. DETAIL - Insufficient system resources exists to complete the requested service. It's a 2008 R2 VM with 32GB of RAM and 6 processors available to it. Plenty of spare HD space too.

I'm getting this and I've tried deleting all profiles, tidying the registry, and copying a default user folder from a different server. I'm still getting the problem and can only log on as the local admin, and even that logs on with a temporary folder. Has anyone got any suggestions please? Stuart

I've just purchased 30 laptops as I have a trolley set of them which need replacing. I budgeted around £400 per unit. I had seven different companies send me quotes, all came in around the £10.5K-£13k mark with varying specifications, makes and models. Then I got a quote from someone offering me "food for thought". Bearing in mind they received the same spec requirements as everyone else did, their offering was £690.30 per month for three years to lease the kit, after which I give it all back and lease new stuff, or I can pay a "fair market value" to own the kit. That would mean well over £25k for kit with a lifetime limited to three years. They asked for feedback. Here is my reply so far; Any suggestions? I thought doing that would stop the governors emailing the group itself, but they'd still be able to email directly the individual members of it. I am more than happy to be told I am wrong!

Hiya, This is also possible via the GUI, but if I can do it on the database I'd prefer it as then I don't need to remember to do it for every new student, it'll just apply automatically. It's looking like it can't be done per database though.

So do I, that's why I'm trying to enforce it.

Yeah, that's where I was going. Anyone know if it's possible to apply the rejection ruling to a database as all the kids are in a seperate one from the governors? Stuart

Morning all, Exchange 2010 SP3. The head has asked me to make it so that the governors can't email the students. They don't know the vast majority of them and there's concern that they could send something sensitive to a student's email account rather than a member of staff with a similar name. This is complicated very slightly by the obvious fact that some of our governors are teachers/support staff in school so do need to email the students. I've had a look and it seems to me that to do this I could add the non-employed-here governors to a new group, then on the student's mailboxes use the "Reject messages from" and select my new group. Is this the best way? Thank you Stuart

Assuming your switches are layer 3, you give each VLAN it's own IP, setup some DHCP helpers pointing at your Windows server, setup a scope for each range you want and you're away. Windows will see where the request is coming from and assign an IP from the appropriate scope. "netsh winsock reset" at an elevated command prompt, then reboot. I've still no idea what it does, but it seems to fix a multitude of problems! Might work.....

169.254.x.x means it couldn't be assigned an IP address. Do you have availability in your scope still? You've not run out of addresses? Stuart

I've got the SPF record setup now as that's the external IP, the DKIM is pretty straight forward to do too, but the DMARC requires an address. Our emails are all @DebEnhamhigh......, but the email server presents itself as mail.debenhamhighschool.suffolk....... Which do I put in the record please? Stuart

I've spoken to them and it is now blocked again, but that's for me, not globally. The guy I spoke to said he believes some new categories for YouTube have appeared which may have caused it. He's logged me a ticket to investigate how it happened as clearly it can't. Stuart
