I think you're question really is "Are my members of staff GDPR compliant" and the answer is probably "no" from the sounds of what they're doing.

I had speed issues for a while and it was simply the driver for the disks. I know it's a basic and obvious thing, but it is very easily missed and regularly assumed "it won't be that". Always worth checking it's got the latest manufacturer's driver and not some creaky Microsoft.

I had thought of just static IPing everything, but the trouble is this network is for a couple of select students who could be connecting different devices to control the light and sound desks. It's because of this I'd like DHCP to work, and also because it's students I don't want them to have Internet access, or connect to the main network.

My network is flat. We have recently bought new sound and lighting desks and both are capable of being driven by an app. I have set up an AP with a different SSID and put the ethernet port it's in, and the two the desks are plugged in to in to their own VLAN on the HP layer 3 switch. The VLAN has an IP address. I have setup a DHCP scope on my server for it. Every port on the switch is "untagged" in the default VLAN and "No" on my new VLAN. I have untagged in my new VLAN the ports which my desks and AP are in. Which VLANs do I tag/no/untag the ports (NIC Teaming) the DHCP server is plugged in to? Do I then do anything about VLANs on the servers NIC settings? My new VLAN doesn't need Internet access so routing through to there is not an issue. Hope that's clear enough. Thank you. Stuart

Hi all, My exchange server receives emails directly from external sources. We aren't receiving all emails from outlook.com addresses. Nothing sitting in the SPAM filter, not even getting to the server according to the message tracking. Is there anything else I can check? Thank you Stuart

Slightly hi-jacking the thread as this is a different supplier, but I logged a ticket with @SchoolsBroadband on Tuesday that none of my new year 7s can get on the Internet. Quite a severe issue. Still not fixed, and have heard nothing since Wednesday despite me chasing today. I also shoved in a ticket yesterday of my Internet being slow and have had no response at all other than the automated "Here's your ticket number". Back to Capita, sent an email to them Tuesday and have had nothing at all back, not even a reference number.

Figured it. I hadn't added any exceptions to my proxy. Added the spiceworks server, now fine.

I've had Spiceworks running merrily on my network for quite some time. I've just tried to install the app on my phone but can't login. If I specify the servers IP adress it comes up with "Error: Socket closed". If I try it with the servername.domain then it says "Error: This operation failed. Please try again." I've tried with and without ":443" on the end. No difference. I have "htttps://" at the beginning. Any suggestions? Stuart

SpiceWorks. You can set it up with different sites, but they communicate with each other.

You're right in that there's nothing they can do particularly, but it doesn't stop them trying when they should be on task.

We did! They can't get to PowerShell, Xbox, or anything else we don't want them to. I just didn't think to check the command prompt as Impero blocks it on all the W7 devices. I know you should never assume, but alas that is what I did. This thread is not so much a "How do I" as I'm aware of GPOs etc, it's more a "WTF? It blocks OK on W7!".

I've rolled out Windows 10 in a couple of our suites and now the students are back, some of them are getting in to cmd.exe. How?? They can't on the Windows 7 machines. Anyone got any suggestions please? They are simply clicking the search magnifying glass, typing "cmd" and then clicking on the result! Thank you Stuart

I have used @Net-Ctrl at multiple sites for years and always been very happy with their work.

The big one was where the responsibility lies. When we got ours from the LA, a lot of the responsibility of kids getting on stuff they shouldn't be was with them. When we came away then it is now entirely with us.

OK so thanks all for your input and suggestions, however fresh eyes are a wonderful thing! Allow me to re-answer this; dc1 = x.161.x.11 dc2 = x.161.x.12 DNS on dc1 is x.161.x.12 and x.161.x.11 DNS on dc2 is x.161.x.11 and x.162.x.12 Bugger! What is curious in my DNS though is that for both of my DCs I have two entries, one in caps and one not, but other than that identical. Anyone else got this? Any thoughts as to why I might? All have recentish timestamps. As I say, much appreciated those that have spent time looking at this and coming up with suggestions, and apologies for the schoolboy error.
