[sims] Urgent Capita SIMS Data Issue - Issued by childrens services
Jawloms replied to vikpaw's topic in MIS Systems
This used to occur if the email was read in a preview pane and then deleted having never been marked as read. They might have read it. Sounds like even if they have, they're not doing anything about it though! -
Uninstalled, rebooted, now waiting........ Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

Thanks @Skelacia. I'll look at that. We don't have a sixth form. Does anyone know what the standard/recommended practice is for when year 11s leave in the way of attendance marks and date of leaving? They certainly aren't coming back here!

One of my office people wants to run an attendance report on the current year 11 students. Our students are considered on Study Leave from May half term until June 29th (this year) so get the appropriate attendance mark. They then are just ignored and given no attendance data at all until during August when they are given the leaving date of June 29th. This is so that we can still communicate with them apparently. This is skewing the figures as the report she is writing is one of her own, not an existing one which lets you choose start and end dates. The best it offers is an effective date, but this of course still takes the entire years data in to account. I hope I have described this clearly enough. How does she create a new report to pull attendance data out and only take into account the data up to June 29th? Stuart

I shall await your outcome I think, but thanks for letting me know. Stuart

[sims] Urgent Capita SIMS Data Issue - Issued by childrens services

For clarity - that's patch 24157 -
I'm getting quite a few event 36888, source "Schannel". They say; Sometimes the internal error state is 10 rather than 1203. Any clues? I've obviously done some Googling, but nothing obvious is leaping out at me. Stuart

@tosh74 - Thank you, I think I'll uninstall it once we have broken up. @mjk - Hell no!

4.7.1 is on and has been since March. Are there known issues with Exchange and 4.7 then?
-
It only has a C drive with everything on it. (I didn't set it up)
-
230GB of disk space free. I'll look at defragging over the summer. All patched up to date.

Morning, Weird problem with my exchange server. It stops delivering email. It seems to receive it all, just stops putting it in mailboxes. I reboot it and all is then delivered after only a few minutes. It then works for a few hours and then stops again. Anyone got any suggestions? All the services are running. Restarting the Information Store makes no difference. I can't see anything obvious in the logs. It did it the first time on Wednesday, and won't go 24 hours without stopping. Where to start?? Thank you Stuart

Tried that as that is what I thought too. Didn't work Still got Page 1 and Page 2 on one side, and then again on the other...... I have now done it though. Printed it so that I had Page 1 and Page 2 next to each other, but printed two copies. Then on the copier did 1 sided to 2 sided copy, and rotated one through 180. Done! I get my chocolate.....

I have a Word document. It is portrait, A4, and there are 2 pages. I want to print it with each page A5 size, on a piece of A4 so that I have page 1 twice on one side, and page 2 twice on the other side. I can't copy and paste as there are borders and drawings which just don't paste at all correctly, otherwise I'd have just made it a four page document with page 1 twice, then page 2 twice. How on earth do I do it? It must be possible, but I'm blowed if I can figure it out. Please! Me receiving chocolate depends on this...... Stuart

@Net-Ctrl told me how many APs I'd need when I gave them only plans. Stuart
-
Ceiling mount them all. That is where they are designed to be. Get someone to do you a survey to tell you how far apart they should be. Any company who thinks business will be coming their way should do this for free in order to give you a quote for the APs.

Similar - we do surname, initial, year in to Y7. e.g. bloggsj18

I can ping by address, but it isn't resolving names. This would point to DNS, but what do I do with it?
-
Many months ago I got DirectAccess working but never actually used it. I have decided to re-look at it and it doesn't work, it says it can't contact the DC. It can via IPv4, but as far as I recall it relies on IPv6. I can't ping anything via IPv6. Each device can ping itself, but nothing else. where do I begin looking? Do I need anything in DNS? Thank you Stuart

Netsweeper with Schools Broadband
Jawloms replied to TMBS's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I got the same response from SchoolsBroadband on 23/5/18. Haven't had it for a while though here to be fair....... -
I think the argument is not who is right or wrong, it's who is right and based on what evidence documented where, rather than "I'm right because I just know". @PhilNeal may well be right and I'm sure Capita are completely allowed to do what they are doing, but where is the documentation which says "You won't need permission, even though you currently only hold your data on your own site, because x, y and z"? Documentation, physical evidence, something I can show parents and the DPO as I don't think they'd accept a thread on EduGeek, however good you lot all may be.

Yes it must. But for the purposes of data collection must it upload it to the cloud when the data collection sheet is available? That is the arguement.
