I wonder if anyone can answer these for me please as @SchoolsBroadband don't seem to be able to; If I add new users to AD, how and when will NetSweeper find out? Everyday at 21:15 since moving to Schoolsbroadband, I receive an email from Microsoft telling me "Azure Active Directory did not register a synchronization attempt from the Identity synchronization tool in the last 24 hours for Debenham High School". How do I run a report to show what addresses the server is trying to get to so I might be able to see why it's failing? Thank you Stuart

Not that I know of, but all set up before I started here. I didn't need this when I was with the LA and they routed all my email? Would that mean they would have the cert I need on installed something, or does it work differently if you're routing someone elses mail? Presumably if I don't have the cert, I need to purchase one for a few hundred £s? Stuart

It looks like I have a cert for mail.debenhamhighschool.suffolk.sch.uk in there. Do I need one for debenhamhigh.co.uk? Once again, all our outgoing email addresses are @DebEnhamhigh.co.uk, but the mail server presents itself for OWA, mail clients on mobiledevices etc as mail.debenhamhighschool.suffolk.sch.uk.

Set up to receive email from all IPs. This may be wrong, but should at least work shouldn't it? Presumably on "Server Configuration" -> "Hub Transport" -> "Receive Connectors"? "Transport Layer Security (TLS)" was ticked, I have now ticked the box underneath which says "Enable Domain Security (Mutual Auth TLS)". "Basic Authentication" was ticked, I have now ticked the box underneath which says "Offer Basic authentication only after starting TLS". Is that what you mean? NDR here;

I have recently moved to Schoolsbroadband. I used to get my Internet provided by the LA, who also provided a Smart Host for my mail relay. Now I am with Schoolsbroadband I am not going through a Smart host. I am not receiving all my incoming email, as you may have seen in another thread. Schoolsbroadband are being no use whatsoever and don't seem to deem it important that we aren't receiving emails from the DFE, some parents, and other places. My external IP is 85.92.188.117. The PTR record, according to mxtoolbox is for mail.debenhamhighschool.suffolk.sch.uk. All of our outgoing email is from @DebEnhamhigh.co.uk email addresses. I am tearing my hair out with this, and the head is getting understandably twitchy. Should my PTR be mail.debenhamhigh.co.uk as that is what our email addresses are? Should I have two PTRs, one for mail.debenhamhigh.co.uk and one for mail.debenhamhighschool.suffolk.sch.uk on different external IP addresses which then forward to my exchange server? What else am I missing? Are there other settings I should have changed on my exchange server now that I am not going through a smart host? Do I need to do anything with any certificates anywhere? My clever techie has mended it. In IE settings, under advanced, she has ticked "Play sounds in webpages". "That sounds pretty obvious" you may be thinking. Why was sound working on ALL other webpages then? Grrr...... Stuart

When I log on as a member of staff now and try and watch a YouTube video, the volume control is greyed out and if you click on it says "Your browser doesn't support changing the volume". Video plays fine though. On Chrome it's fine, and logged on as an administrator it's fine in IE. Nothing has changed in group policy, we have just changed our broadband provider so are subject to new filtering. Flash is up to date. Windows 7, IE 11. Any thoughts anyone? Stuart

I'm guessing not as I've barely done anything with Office 365 other than make the accounts sync with my DC. Like I say, we don't use O365 for email so would it be turned on? I've just had a look around the Exchange Admin Centre and can't see anything obvious.

Morning, I have just changed to schoolsbroadband (late yesterday) and am after some help with my mail relay. When I asked what the mail relay server address was I got told that they wouldn't recommend I use it as they get blacklisted occasionally(!), but also told what it was. I used to get my broadband via my LA, who also were my mail relay. Now I've come away from them I have to change it. I changed the "Route mail through the following smart hosts" in my send connector (Exchange 2010 SP3) to the schoolsbroadband address and now nothing will send. It bounces back saying; What do I do? Also - We have Office 365 accounts, but don't use them for email. Do they have a mail relay I could use instead? I've done nothing with the incoming email yet as I need to speak to my LA to update this. Thank you Stuart

Hi all, I've got a primary school with a Server 2008 R2 server, with IE11 installed, but I can't see the settings in group policy. It only offers me "Internet Explorer 5 and 6", "Internet Explorer 7", or "Internet Explorer 8". Tracked it down. It was Impero. One of my techies had made a change, but done it in the wrong place. What was confusing me though was the fact that Impero wasn't throwing any error messages.

Sorry, probably should have said - There's nothing wrong with the sticks. They work fine in a standalone PC.

Yesterday, all was fine. Today when a member of staff puts a memory stick in a computer (we've tried a few computers and memory sticks) then it shows the contents of the stick for a few seconds, and then the window closes. If you go to "Computer", you can see the memory stick listed but it just says "FAT32" underneath it rather than the name of the memory stick. DISKPART can see it, and see it's size. Impero isn't reporting anything. If I log on as domain admin then the same thing happens but when clicking on the USB it says "Access Denied". As far as I am aware, nothing has changed, but clearly something must have. I have two IT technicians who aren't in the habit of doing things without telling me, but who are also both not here for me to ask at the moment! I've done a Group Policy Results Wizard and can't see anything in there blocking USB stuff. Windows 7, latest Impero, Server 2012. Where do I begin to look? Thank you Stuart

Can you insert a new column A, then put "ren" in column A, then do a column D which is column A & " " &column B&" "&column C, then copy column D, then paste values in to a new sheet and save it as a .bat file?

I have done this a number of times. Once with 50 devices and twice with 30. Works very well. Trade in anything which is newer than seven years old and works. They knock off a few £s if there is excess damage, keys missing, no power supply for laptops, DVD drive not working etc, but generally it works out very well. I budget £12K to replace 30 devices. With the trade in scheme I usually spend £13k-£14k ensuring I know I am going to get back at least the difference. It usually works out I get a lot more back. Make sure you remove any BIOS passwords as they won't give you any money at all for a device with one. The biggest problem I had was when they arranged to pick up my 50 trade in devices on a pallet, and then sent one bloke in a sprinter without a tail lift. Durrr....
